Volkswagen Tayron to launch soon The brand is preparing to launch the Tayron in the Indian market. It will replace the Tiguan AllSpace in the portfolio. It has been spotted on testing on the Indian Tayron is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of 2025 and it will mark Volkswagen's return to the three-row SUV space. The design elements of the Tayron largely resemble those of the Tiguan R-Line. Nevertheless, its length has been extended by 231 mm to provide additional interior space. Skoda Kushaq And Volkswagen Taigun Facelifts: Skoda and Volkswagen kicked off their India 2.0 journey back in 2021 with two big launches, the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. These midsize SUVs have since received a few small updates and special editions, but a full-blown mid-life facelift has been long-awaited. Now, with test mules of the updated versions spotted on Indian roads, the facelifted models seem closer than ever. Here is what we know about the upcoming facelifted Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun so far. Skoda Kushaq Facelift The refreshed Kushaq will come with several updates inside and out. Spy shots reveal a sharper front design with a new grille, redesigned LED headlamps, new alloy wheels, and updated bumpers. The rear section also gets a fresh look. Inside, we can expect slight tweaks to the dashboard layout, new upholstery, and several new features. According to the latest spy shots, a panoramic sunroof is finally making its way in. It is also likely to come equipped with Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, and more. No changes are expected to the powertrain options. It will continue with the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines, with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift The Taigun facelift has been spotted testing for the first time in India and is expected to arrive around early 2026, right alongside the Kushaq facelift. Just like its Skoda sibling, the changes will be more about looks than mechanicals. Expect redesigned headlights and taillights, new bumpers, a revised grille, and fresh alloy wheels. Inside, there will be minor dashboard changes and feature upgrades like Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera. The same 1.0-litre TSI and 1.0-litre TSI EVO petrol engine options are likely to remain unchanged.

VW shareholder Porsche SE eyes higher defence exposure as auto sector flails
Volkswagen 's largest shareholder, holding firm Porsche SE , said on Wednesday that it planned to deepen its involvement in the defence sector, while reaffirming its core focus on cars and industrial technology. The move aligns with a broader trend among German auto and car parts makers. Companies like Volkswagen, Daimler Truck and Schaeffler have been exploring the defence industry as a potential growth avenue as Europe ramps up military spending . The holding vehicle of the Porsche and Piech families, which owns 32 per cent in Volkswagen and 12.5 per cent in luxury carmaker Porsche AG , said it intended to launch an investment platform in cooperation with other investors and partners, targeting emerging companies in the defence space. As part of this initiative, it would host a "Defense Day" event to connect German and European family offices with investment opportunities in the sector, it said without giving further details. Independently of the platform, the company is intensively exploring investment opportunities in areas such as satellite surveillance, reconnaissance and sensor systems, cybersecurity and logistics, it added. "The sector is hyped at the moment and likely to experience continued strong growth in the foreseeable future," said analyst Fabio Hoelscher from Warburg Research, though he noted no capital commitments had been made so far. Porsche SE outlined the investment plans after cutting its full-year earnings forecast, weighed down by a weaker half-year performance and an outlook cut at Volkswagen, its largest portfolio company whose performance is heavily reflected in the holding firm's results. While defence investments would counterbalance its cyclical automotive exposure to some extent, the sector is unlikely to become something as large and material for Porsche SE as its stakes in Volkswagen and Porsche AG in the short to medium term, Hoelscher said. Porsche first flagged its intention to expand investments into the defence sector in March.
