Erykah Badu talks new music, love of touring

Singer-songwriter Erykah Badu is opening up on what's next in her illustrious career.
Badu discussed new music and her love of touring in an interview with Billboard while attending the Billboard Women in Music event over the weekend.
The five-time Grammy winner was asked in the interview what it was like to work on a full album for the first time since her 2010 release, "New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh)."
"I mean, I've put out other music but it feels good, it feels natural to me," she said.

Badu then discussed her love of playing music out on the road, calling herself a "touring artist."
"As a touring artist, we create moments. As a recording artist, I create memories, but those moments are very important to me," she said.
Badu recently expressed similar sentiments in a separate interview with Billboard published March 19.
"That's what I do. I am a performance artist. I am not a recording artist. I come from the theater. It's the immediate reaction between you and the audience and the immediate feeling. The point where you become one living, breathing organism with people. That's what I live for. It's my therapy. And theirs, too. We're in it together. And I like the idea that it happens only once," she said at the time.

Badu performed at this year's Billboard Women in Music event, where he was honored with the Icon Award.
On being an icon, Badu told Billboard on Saturday, "I think that it means that you have managed to surpass your own expectations."

Is Doechii's Oversized Balloon Jacket Summer's Newest Style Trend?

Source: Bryan Bedder / Getty When it comes to commanding the stage, rapper and budding style icon Doechii never misses. However, her May 31 performance at the Samsung Edge in New York didn't just deliver a flawless stage performance but a flawless fit, too. The Florida-born rapper has again gone viral. This time in a statement-making ensemble that blurs the lines between high fashion and hip-hop flair. The fashion girls are talking – and taking notes. The Grammy-winning artist hit the Samsung stage as part of a new partnership with the tech brand. She wore a dramatic balloon-shaped trench coat layered over a crisp white button-down and maroon necktie. Styled by Sam Woolfe, the look was cinched just enough to reveal her tiny waist and mini length to show off her legs. She paired the funky outwear with high beige socks and sharp black stilettos. Adding to her look was makeup and hair for the 'gawds. Her makeup included a silver cut crease, flawless matte skin, and a glossy red lip. Gold hoops and wire-rimmed glasses gave her fit a soft throwback finish, and her signature face tape continues to be that girl. What we love about Doechii's balloon jacket is that it challenges the idea of what summer style is (or should look like). A departure from the typical warm-weather dressing of booty shorts, maxi dresses, and skimpy tops, the 'Anxiety' femcee's fit stood out. Her body was still bodying – and so was her style. Her jacket is also a nod to icons like Andre Leon Talley who always played with proportions by his own rules. Yes, the piece is just that good. If you're thinking about how to tap into the Doechii summer style trend, start with exaggerated outerwear in breathable fabrics. Think unexpected to expected from linen and chambray to seersucker and chiffon. Pair the outerwear with short hemlines or stackable layers that help balance the volume. Source: Bryan Bedder / Getty For those not ready to go bare-legged just yet, layer baggy silhouettes over shorts or bike sets. Add sleek heels or chunky sneakers to stand out and don't be afraid to play with accessories that contrast the drama. Doechii's summer style trend is for the girls who like to put that ish on. Her fashion era continues to evolve —and we're ready for every oversized moment. BTS Unveils Plans for 2025 Festa Celebration in South Korea

BTS has shared new details about its upcoming 2025 FESTA, marking the K-pop group's 12th anniversary. This year's offline celebration is set for June 13–14 at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 in Goyang, South Korea. The event will be open to the public and feature interactive activities, including a FESTA-themed game zone, DIY photo card stations, and a coloring wall inspired by BTS' album artwork. In conjunction with the in-person festivities, a lineup of online content — such as the annual 'BTS LIVE' and the family portrait — will be released. Exclusive merchandise will also be available. It remains unclear whether any BTS members will appear or perform at this year's FESTA. Billboard has reached out to the group's representatives for comment. At the 2024 FESTA, Jin made his first public appearance after completing his mandatory military service, personally greeting 1,000 fans with hugs. He also performed solo tracks 'The Astronaut' and 'Super Tuna,' along with BTS' 'Moon.' While none of the other BTS members were able to attend last year's FESTA, each wrote heartfelt letters to ARMY that were shared during the event. BTS made its Billboard chart debut in 2013, when 'No More Dream' entered at No. 14 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, eventually climbing to No. 2 seven years later. Since then, the group has shattered multiple records, including the most No. 1 debuts on the Billboard Hot 100 and the most top 10 debuts among groups. In recent years, each of the seven members has also made a mark individually, with all scoring solo entries on the Hot 100. Check out the 2025 FESTA website for further details.
