"Immersive installation" GRUE opens in Bingley for Bradford 2025
The installation, named GRUE, is situated at Damart Mill and opened on February 8 and 9.
GRUE will present a series of sessions especially for local schools, home educators, and community groups from February 11 to 14 before reopening to the public for February half term from February 15 to 23.
Commissioned by Bradford 2025, GRUE, a "magical immersive installation" by Wintercroft and ARCADE, is described as "perfect" for families with pre-school and primary school children.
Complete with live performers and inspired by Bingley's heritage, audiences will explore various fantastical landscapes in the Mill's basement.
The scenery has been created by the people of Bradford, in workshops including drop-in sessions in libraries, and is entirely made from sustainable and repurposed materials such as paper and cardboard.

Hundreds of community members have contributed to the creation of more than 1,000 items featured in GRUE, including birds, fish, houses, and flowers.
Local schools have also played a part in building the magical world of GRUE, and will enjoy class trips to the installation in the week before half term.
GRUE marks the first event in Bradford 2025's year-long PLAY programme, a series of events and playful interventions set to occur throughout the year.
Rhiannon Hannon, director of creative engagement and participation at Bradford 2025, said: "GRUE is the first of many events we're working on as part of our year-long PLAY programme, which aims to involve children and young people in our UK City of Culture year and encourage them to play.
"Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture is building on an extraordinary history of play in the Bradford District by developing a programme that celebrates the universality of play as a tool to learn about ourselves, other people, and the world around us."
Rach Drew, co-artistic director and CEO of ARCADE, added: "GRUE is an amazing experience that we've found people really respond to at a deep level; they are inspired to get creative and it captures imaginations."
Jeanette Howard-Jones, co-managing director of Damart UK, said: "It is an honour for Damart to be at the heart of GRUE and we are excited for new generations to learn more about our local heritage."
Wintercroft, founded by Scarborough-based designer and visual artist Steve Wintercroft, designed GRUE.
The installation was produced by Bridlington- and Scarborough-based ARCADE.

Rescue Dog Meets Rescue Horse for First Time, Takes Unexpected Turn
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. You might expect a dog and a horse meeting for the first time to involve a cautious stare, a curious sniff, or maybe a wagging tail. But when a 4-year-old rescue dog named Petal was introduced to Simon, a 3-year-old horse, things took an unexpected turn. Instead of a gentle greeting, Simon leaned in and gave Petal's head a nibble. Fortunately, the encounter was all in good fun and no animals were harmed in the making of the TikTok clip shared to @boochaces. So far, the August 15 video has already amassed over 1.1 million views and more than 191,700 likes. Newsweek spoke to Caitlin Cimini, founder of the New Jersey-based sanctuary Rancho Relaxo, who was holding Petal during the viral moment. From left: Simon the horse nudges Petal the dog's head; and Moose the equine does the same thing. From left: Simon the horse nudges Petal the dog's head; and Moose the equine does the same thing. TikTok/@boochaces "Petal is so sweet, quiet and gentle," she said. "She is used to the chaos of a hoarding situation." Petal's story is one of resilience. The Animal Humane Society estimates that up to 250,000 animals per year are victims of hoarding. Newsweek spoke to Justine Wilkinson, an environmental health officer at Northumbria University in England, who studies the psychological roots of animal hoarding. Wilkinson said: "People who hoard animals often report living in a chaotic domestic environment during childhood; childhood problems with caregivers, e.g., unstable, neglectful, abusive, absent, or inconsistent; and stressful life events in child and adulthood. "They also report relying on animals during childhood, suggesting provision as alternative attachment figures and providing security without fear of rejection." The clip features not just Simon, but also Moose—the first horse who approaches Petal. The 10-year-old black horse goes in for what sanctuary owner Cimini described as an "abrasive" sniff, while Simon follows with his now-infamous nibble. "He is still so curious as he is young," Cimini said. Both horses were rescued from slaughter and have since thrived at Rancho Relaxo. "Simon is a very sociable horse," Cimini said. "He was rescued from slaughter two years ago, and you would never know he came from facing that terrible fate. He is a happy, affectionate horse. "Moose was originally rescued from slaughter by a rescue that ended up failing the animals under their care—which is when we stepped in. So, he was saved twice," Cimini added. TikTok Reacts As expected, TikTok users had plenty to say about the moment that is described as an "unforgettable experience," according to the on-screen text. "Do you wanna meet a horse for the first time? Dog: *entire life flashes past it*" joked one commenter, racking up more than 12,000 likes. Another wrote: "Simon asking is this a sweet treat." A third posted: "That poor dog wondering if life on streets is better."

FTC sues ticket reseller, saying it illegally exceeded purchase limits for Taylor Swift, other shows
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit Monday against a ticket broker, alleging the company used illegal tactics to exceed purchasing limits for popular events and then resold tickets at significantly higher prices. In a lawsuit filed in federal court in Maryland, the FTC said Maryland-based ticket broker Key Investment Group has used thousands of fictitious Ticketmaster accounts and other methods to buy tickets for events, including Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. According to the FTC, Key Investment Group – which does business under brand names like Epic Seats and Totally Tix – purchased at least 379,776 tickets from Ticketmaster between Nov. 1, 2022, and Dec. 30, 2023. The company spent nearly $57 million to buy the tickets and resold them on secondary marketplaces for approximately $64 million. For just one Taylor Swift concert, Key Investment Group allegedly used 49 different accounts to purchase 273 tickets, dramatically exceeding the Eras Tour's 2023 six-ticket purchase limit per event, the FTC said. Fans were so frustrated by the difficulty getting tickets for Swift's tour that the U.S. Senate wound up grilling Ticketmaster in a 2023 hearing. In a statement released Monday, Key Investment Group said it will vigorously defend itself against the FTC's lawsuit. 'The case threatens to dismantle the secondary ticket market for live events, further consolidating power in the hands of the industry's largest monopoly,' the company said. Key Investment Group said the FTC is misapplying the Better Online Ticket Sales Act, a 2016 law which it said was meant to target malicious software, not legitimate resale businesses. Key Investment Group sued the FTC in July to try to prevent the agency from using the law against it, saying it uses human employees — not bots — to buy tickets. But the FTC said that law also prohibits anyone from circumventing security measures and other controls meant to enforce posted ticket limits. In March, with Kid Rock by his side in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing U.S. officials to ensure ticket resellers are complying with Internal Revenue Service rules. The order also directed the FTC to ensure 'price transparency at all stages of the ticket-purchase process' and to 'take enforcement action to prevent unfair, deceptive, and anti-competitive conduct in the secondary ticketing market."
