Karisma Kapoor not involved in late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur's inheritance, say sources
Karisma, who was married to the late industrialist from 2003 to 2016, has 'no involvement or stake' in the property or inheritance matters following his untimely demise, clarified insiders close to the actress.
'She is not involved in any inheritance or property-related matters in any way. The children are the rightful heirs and will receive what is due to them. Karisma's focus right now is only the well-being of her children,' the source said, as quoted by ETimes.
The clarification comes amid heightened media scrutiny and social media chatter about the distribution of Sunjay Kapur's assets after his sudden death on June 12, 2025, during a polo match in London.
While Karisma has been entirely uninvolved, tensions appear to be rising within the Kapur household.
In a fresh development, Priya Sachdev Kapur — Sunjay's second wife — was officially appointed as a non-executive director at Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) following a shareholder vote at the annual general meeting held on July 25. Sona Comstar, one of India's prominent auto component manufacturers, confirmed Priya's appointment in a regulatory filing. The decision comes shortly after the company's board named Jeffery Mark Overly as the new chairman, succeeding Sunjay Kapur.
However, not everyone in the family is on board. In a letter dated July 24 addressed to the board of Sona Comstar, Rani Kapur — Sunjay's mother and the former chairperson of the Sona Group — accused unnamed individuals of leveraging the family's grief for personal gain.
She alleged that during a time of mourning, certain parties made moves to 'wrest control and usurp the family legacy,' casting a shadow over the recent corporate changes. While she did not name anyone directly, the timing of the appointments and the tone of her letter hint at a growing rift in the family business.
Despite the estate speculation, Karisma Kapoor's only concern at the moment, according to those close to her, is ensuring stability for her two children with Sunjay. The couple shares daughter Samaira and son Kiaan.
Sources confirmed that the children are 'rightful heirs' and will receive their due share, but Karisma herself is not making any legal or financial claims.

The extension aims to give taxpayers more time to ensure accurate filing and full compliance with tax regulations. Non-Resident Indians most commonly file for ITR-2, of all the types. Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can file your ITR online. This process begins after you've completed the pre-filing stage, where you're required to enter all relevant income and tax-related information. 1. Log in to the e-Filing portal Visit the official e-Filing portal and log in using your PAN (as User ID), password, and captcha code. 2. Begin the Filing Process Once logged in, go to your dashboard and navigate to: e-File > Income Tax Returns > File Income Tax Return If your PAN is not linked with Aadhaar, a warning message will pop up indicating that your PAN is inoperative. You can either click 'Link Now' to link it immediately or proceed (not recommended). 3. Choose the assessment year Select Assessment Year 2024–25 and click 'Continue'. 4. Indian authorities issue watchlist order against Anil Ambani in Rs30-million fraud case
Anil Ambani, Chairman of the Reliance Group, is facing fresh legal trouble as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a lookout circular against him in connection with a suspected loan fraud worth Rs30 million (Dh1.2 million), according to a report by NDTV citing official sources. The move comes on the same day the businessman was summoned by the agency for questioning. He has been asked to appear before the ED on Tuesday (August 5). A lookout circular is typically issued by Indian authorities to prevent individuals from fleeing the country to dodge legal action. It is distributed to all immigration checkpoints — including airports and seaports — and alerts authorities to detain the individual if they attempt to leave Indian borders. The case under investigation involves loans granted by Yes Bank to Reliance Group companies between 2017 and 2019. The ED suspects that roughly Rs30,000,000 million (Dh1.2 million) was diverted from these loans. Officials believe there may have been a quid pro quo, as payments were allegedly made to Yes Bank's promoters shortly before the loans were approved. The ED on July 24 launched widespread raids at over 50 locations linked to the case. These raids, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, reportedly continued for three days. Despite the mounting scrutiny, Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure issued statements to stock exchanges asserting that the ED's raids have had "absolutely no impact" on their business operations, financial health, or stakeholders. "The media reports appear to pertain to allegations concerning transactions of Reliance Communications Limited (RCOM) or Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL) which are over 10 years old," the companies had said. Expanding its investigation, the ED has also started probing a separate case involving an alleged fake bank guarantee worth Rs682 million (Dh28.7 million). According to officials, a company called Biswal Tradelink — which allegedly managed a network of shell companies — issued a fraudulent bank guarantee to the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The scam reportedly involved a spoofed domain (' made to closely resemble that of the State Bank of India (' which was then used to send fake emails and documents meant to mislead SECI and other entities.
