Charli XCX quietly marries musical star in London

Perth Now20-07-2025
Charli XCX has married the drummer of The 1975 in London in front of a small group of family and friends with sources saying it was a 'secluded, no expense spared' celebration.
The 32-year-old Brit tied the knot with George Daniel at the weekend with a video of the couple on their special day going viral.
The Apple singer wowed in a low-cut white mini-dress, wore her hair down with a lengthy veil and even donned her trademark Brat sunglasses at the intimate ceremony at the Hackney Town Hall.
According to The Mirror, there were only 20 friends and family in attendance, including Daniel's bandmates Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann.

As for the 35-year-old sticksman's attire, the groom opted for a casual black suit with an off-grey shirt underneath, plus a white flower in his jacket to match his wife's bouquet.
There had been reports that the pair were planning a lavish Sicily wedding later this year.
An insider told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: 'Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there.
'It's incredibly secluded and romantic. There will be no expense spared. It's costing tens of thousands of pounds and visually it will be mesmerising.
'Charli and George said they wanted a massive party and there are no restrictions on when the bar has to close, so it can go on all night.'
The source added: 'They have both had such a busy summer with massive shows, but from mid-August they're able to slow down and focus on their big day.
'It's going to be pretty star-studded too, with plenty of their celeb mates making the journey over to Sicily to watch them say 'I do'. Charli and George are so excited to become man and wife.'
However, Charli revealed earlier this year that she was feeling relaxed about her wedding plans and that she and Daniel 'just want to have a party'.
The 360 singer said: 'We're both very chill and we kind of just want to have a party.
'Neither of us are particularly formal about marriage or care about the formalities of the ceremony or whatever.
'We just want to be together forever and have a party with our friends.'
The pair got engaged in November 2023 after one year of dating.

George Clooney doesn't care if people think he only plays himself

George Clooney doesn't "give a s***" about criticism of his acting. The 64-year-old star's versatility as a performer has come into question but the Jay Kelly actor insisted he doesn't care that people believe he is only ever playing a version of himself because he appreciates the diverse range of projects that come his way. He told Vanity Fair magazine: "Do people say that I only play myself? I don't give a s***. "There aren't that many guys in my age group that are allowed to do both broad comedies like O Brother [Where Art Thou?] and then do Michael Clayton or Syriana. So if that means I'm playing myself all the time, I don't give a s***. "Have you ever tried playing yourself? It's hard to do.' George suggested he has aged out of action roles because it would be "funny" to see him running after a bad guy now, and he welcomed his latest movie Jay Kelly, in which he plays a world famous movie star faced with a personal reckoning. He said: When you're an actor in my position, at my age, finding roles like this aren't all that common. "If you can't make peace with aging, then you've got to get out of the business and just disappear. "I'm now the guy that, when I go running after a bad guy, it's funny—it's not suspenseful. That's okay. I embrace all of that.' And while he was quick to sign on for the project, he did ask director Noah Baumbach - who is known for requesting multiple takes of a scene - to make the shoot less gruelling. George admitted: "I literally said to him, 'Noah, look, I love the script. I love you as a director, but I'm 63 years old, dude - I can't do 50 takes.' "I don't have it in me. I've got the acting range from A to B." The former E.R. star is grateful that he didn't experience "blinding" success until relatively late in his career. He said: 'I've been the beneficiary of having my career not be massively successful in lots of different directions. 'I didn't really get successful, in the kind of success that can be blinding, until I was 33 years old. I'd been working for 12 years at that point. I had a real understanding of how fleeting all of it is and how little it has to do with you, quite honestly.'

Food craving triggers special mission for Prince George

The Prince and Princess of Wales have enjoyed a summer holiday sailing around the Greek islands with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Cruising aboard a 50-metre superyacht that is reportedly worth $80 million, the family travelled through the sunlit waters of the Ionian Sea after departing from Kefalonia. At some point during their voyage, it is understood that George, who is second in line to the throne, made a special request that prompted a unique errand. As the superyacht lingered off Zakynthos, word is that the 12-year-old's ask set off a discreet mission ashore. Insiders remain characteristically guarded about the details, but one source offered a tantalising hint. 'George required a specific dietary item, which led to the tender going ashore in Zakynthos to purchase it. Nothing extravagant, just something particular,' they revealed to the Daily Mail. It's hard to imagine what could not be produced by the yacht's chef, but it appears even a royal holiday sometimes calls for a little journey to satisfy one's cravings. One local jokingly speculated that the special request might have been for McDonald's, since Zakynthos is one of the few Greek islands to have the fast-food chain.

Jason Momoa believes it's his 'destiny' to tell the story of Hawaii

Jason Momoa believes it's his "destiny" to tell the story of Hawaii. The Aquaman star explores his Hawaiian heritage in new Apple TV+ series Chief of War - which tells the story of the unification of the islands at the turn of the 18th century - and he is convinced the stars have aligned to bring him to a place in his career where he could show the lives of his ancestors onscreen. He told PEOPLE: "I feel like this whole thing has chosen me in a way, like this is my destiny," he says. "I have no idea how I got to all this, but we're here, and I'm very grateful. I'm living my dream doing what I love to do. To play my ancestors is such a responsibility. It's scary and exciting." Jason added: "My dad is a coach at an outrigger canoe club, which is where I learned how to surf. "Just this morning, the sand pulled back and revealed massive petroglyphs [ancient carvings] right in the place where I grew up. It's kind of insane. I've never experienced that before." The actor also got the chance to write and direct while working on the show and he has insisted he's finally get the chance to show a different side to himself. He told the Metro newspaper: "It's my heart and soul. This has been in me my whole life. I'm ready. Put it on me. " I feel like I've been mismanaged and people don't really know who I am, since the beginning, so now I finally get a chance to [show] 'No, I can direct and write'." Jason went on to applaud bosses at Apple for taking a chance on a show about Hawaii's history, adding: "It's a bold thing to do. "I think Apple had a lot of trust in us, because there's nothing to prove it against. No one's ever heard the language. There's a lot of actors that have never been seen before. It's a lot ... "There's a lot of change and a lot to bring back of a culture that was … Our language is banned from us and we're getting it back. A lot of our art … We're part of America and I don't think anyone really knows anything about us. "[We] really have to celebrate Apple for just taking on something that's this big, and putting the trust in me ... "
