Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner has brought back Umberto Ferrara as his fitness coach, nearly a year after dismissing him due to his involvement in a doping case that resulted in Sinner serving a three-month ban.
The rehiring follows Sinner's recent removal of fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio from his team.
"Umberto has played an important role in Jannik's development to date, and his return reflects a renewed focus on continuity and performance at the highest level," Sinner's team announced on Wednesday.

The doping case emerged when Sinner tested positive twice for trace amounts of an anabolic steroid, Clostebol, in March last year.
The case wasn't revealed until August, shortly before his US Open victory.
Initially, Sinner was cleared of wrongdoing based on his defense that he was accidentally exposed to the banned substance through a massage from his then-physiotherapist, Giacomo Naldi. Ferrara had purchased a product in Italy and given it to Naldi for a cut on Naldi's finger, who then treated Sinner without wearing gloves.

Ferrara subsequently worked briefly with another Italian player, Matteo Berrettini.
The World Anti-Doping Agency appealed Sinner's exoneration, leading to him accepting a three-month ban that concluded before the Italian Open in May this year.
Sinner, fresh from his Wimbledon triumph this month, is scheduled to return to competition at the Cincinnati Open next month, where he will prepare to defend his U.S. Open title.
The changes in Sinner's support team mark a significant shift in his professional setup as he continues his career at the highest level of tennis.

After leading Slovenia to gold in 2017 at just 18 and delivering more dazzling performances in 2022, Dončić now enters the tournament at the peak of his powers. Fresh off another MVP-caliber NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers, he'll serve as the backbone of Slovenia's Group D campaign, which features tough matchups against France and co-hosts Poland. RERA slaps 4.5L fine on infra firm for fraud in plot sale

Cleared: dk Hyderabad: Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TGRERA) has imposed a penalty of 4.5 lakh on Roy All Diamond Infra Developers for misrepresentation and unauthorised marketing of a residential plot. The authority found that the firm collected 9 lakh from complainant Madikonda Mallesh without any legal ownership or authorisation over the property in question. Mallesh, a 40-year-old govt employee from Mallapur, filed the complaint after discovering that the plot he agreed to purchase in the venture 'Kaasvi E-City' did not belong to the respondent. According to the complaint, Nayak introduced himself as a partner in Roy All Diamond Infra Developers and claimed to be the absolute owner of Plot No. 43, measuring 150 square yards in Ferozguda village, Ibrahimpatnam mandal. He demanded a sale consideration of 36 lakh and received 9 lakh as advance through multiple payments in March 2024. Upon verifying the property's Encumbrance Certificate, the complainant discovered that the land actually belonged to another real estate developer. TGRERA Orders Refund with Interest and Seeks Probe into Project Promoters TGRERA, in its findings, observed that the respondent had no legal title or authority over the land and that his conduct constituted a violation of Sections 11(4)(a) and 12 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. In addition to the penalty under Section 61, the authority directed the respondent to refund the 9 lakh received from the complainant with 11% annual interest, calculated from the date of each payment until the amount is realised. The refund has to be completed within 30 days from the date of the order. Noting "unauthorised and deceptive conduct," the authority also instructed Telangana RERA secretary to initiate an inquiry and issue a show cause notice to the registered promoters of Kaasvi E-City. The notice seeks a written explanation on whether Nayak was ever authorised to market or collect payments for the project, and requires submission of all related agreements and correspondence. The order was issued under Sections 37 and 38 of the RERA Act, empowering the authority to take such enforcement actions. The authority has made it clear that any further non-compliance with the refund or penalty payment timelines would invite additional consequences under the Act.

Rights panel slams Haryana cops for stripping disabled CA, orders ₹50k relief

Chandigarh: The Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has indicted a police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a constable of forcibly making an arrested chartered accountant (CA), who has a physical disability, to strip to his underwear, allow a relative of his estranged wife to make a video of him in the embarrassing position, and then distribute it. The commission on Wednesday asked the Haryana home department to pay a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the victim, a resident of Faridabad who was arrested in a molestation case registered on a complaint by his wife at Saran police station. The order came from a full quorum bench comprising commission chairman Justice Lalit Batra, judicial member Kuldeep Jain, and member Deep Bhatia, while announcing partial relief in a case pending for three years. The incident dates to May 2021, when the ASI and constable had gone to arrest the victim. The victim alleged that after his arrest, the cops instructed him to remove his clothes in public view. Though he resisted, they coerced him into disrobing himself to his underwear, he alleged. Thereafter, he claimed, the cops facilitated a relative of his estranged wife to click his photo and shoot a video while in a semi-nude condition, and the same was circulated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Enhance Online Presence and Get Customers [Try Now] Undo "This was not just a grave violation of human rights of the person by cops but resulted in traumatic stigma on the complainant as the video and pictures shot by private persons were circulated in private circles. Now, we have directed the home department to compensate the victim, and the department is at liberty to recover the fine from the errant cops identified as ASI Jagmati and constable Rakesh," said the commissioner in the order. The complainant also claimed that his request to the office of the Faridabad commissioner of police (CP) did not bear fruit. Even before HHRC, the police force was not cooperative and favoured the errant cops by not sharing the video footage of the lock-up. On reinvestigation, a DCP-level officer admitted to the victim being semi-nude but claimed that the victim volunteered to remove his clothes due to the summer heat. The commission did not buy this theory and assigned the investigation to its own investigating team headed by an SP-level officer. During investigation, the allegations were found to be true, and the complainant also brought on record a clip and photographs circulated by the relative of his estranged wife. "Since the availability of the video clip was an admitted fact supported by circumstantial evidence, this was enough to indict the errant cops to announce this order," said Bhatia, HHRC member.
