Beats Solo 4 Headphones Are 50% Off as Apple Makes Room in Stock for What's Next
Beats headphones and earbuds always rank highly on the annual best-of lists, thanks to their comfort, exceptionally long battery life, and the ease with which they connect to both Apple and Android devices. The Beats Solo 4 wireless on-ear headphones earned a spot on CNET's Best of 2024 list, and now just 7 months later, they're available for less than half price at Amazon.

The personalized spatial audio of the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones is like being surrounded by 64 speakers. Off-hand that might sound a little aggressive, but it's far more about hearing and practically feeling the sound of your music in the most immersive way possible. Dynamic head tracking and built-in gyroscopes and accelerometers move the sound as you move, creating a remarkably real-feeling sound.
You can lose yourself in the sound of the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones all day long — and then some. They're almost certainly going to outlast your listening attention span with up to 50 hours of battery life, and if you're running for the door and realizing you've forgotten to recharge them, the Fast Fuel charging mode means you can hook up the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones to a USB-C power source for just 10 minutes to get enough juice for a full 5-hour listening session.
Wireless earbuds are far more commonly seen than wireless on-ear headphones, but the old-school look of the Beats Solo 4 comes with all sorts of new tech that brings unmatched sound, durability, and comfort. For starters, Beats knew they had to make the Solo 4 wireless headphones comfortable enough to live up to the crazy-long battery life, and with a flex-grip headband, plush and adjustable ear cups, and a weight of barely over a pound, they definitely achieved a high level of comfort. They have one-touch pairing with both Apple and Android devices, and they're just as good for phone calls as they are with music or podcasts, with upgraded microphones and advanced tech to block out external noise and wind.
Of all the many great features that come with the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones, the best one of all right now is still the price — an all-time low $100 while Amazon's 50% off deal is still in effect. That makes these probably the best $100 wireless on-ear headphones you can find, as long as you make it to Amazon in time to get them for that great price.

Perplexity AI offers $34.5bn to acquire Google Chrome
AI-powered search engine Perplexity AI has made an unsolicited offer of $34.5bn to acquire Alphabet's Chrome browser. Perplexity's CEO, Aravind Srinivas, is known for aggressive acquisition strategies, as evidenced by the company's previous offer for TikTok US. Tech industry's giants such as OpenAI and Yahoo, alongside Apollo Global Management, are also showing interest in Chrome. Alphabet is yet to respond to the bid, and Chrome is not currently up for sale. The technology conglomerate plans to appeal a US court ruling that found it held an unlawful monopoly in online search. The Justice Department's case against Google includes a potential Chrome divestiture as a remedy, which could influence the outcome of Perplexity's offer. Despite not disclosing its funding plan, Perplexity has raised approximately $1bn from investors including Nvidia and SoftBank. The company claims that multiple funds are ready to finance the deal in full. Perplexity's proposal, which notably lacks an equity component, aims to maintain user choice and address future competition concerns. However; analysts are sceptical about Google's willingness to part with Chrome, considering its strategic importance to the company's AI initiatives, according to Reuters. The legal landscape also presents challenges, with a federal ruling on the Google search antitrust case expected soon. Perplexity, with its own AI browser Comet, aims to harness Chrome's more than three billion users to strengthen its position against larger competitors. The company has committed to keeping Chrome's underlying code, Chromium, open source and plans to invest $3bn over two years while maintaining Chrome's default search engine, as per a term sheet seen by Reuters. In July 2025, Perplexity AI obtained new funding, bringing its valuation to $18bn. The company secured $100m in fresh capital as an extension of a previous round. "Perplexity AI offers $34.5bn to acquire Google Chrome" was originally created and published by Verdict, a GlobalData owned brand.
