Brit tourist, 21, found dead on street in popular Algarve party resort as cops launch investigation
The 21-year-old man's body was discovered at the bottom of a set of steps in the old town of the Algarve holiday resort.

The alarm was raised just before 7am on Wednesday, Correo da Manha reports.
An autopsy has already taken place but results have not been made public.
It's understood Portuguese cops are not treating the death as suspicious.
Police have not said whether the Brit was staying at a hotel in Albufeira.
On Wednesday the body of a Scottish tourist who had been missing for seven days after vanishing during a night out in Albufeira was found.
Greg Monks, 38, from Glasgow, had gone out drinking in the Albufeira strip after flying to the resort hours earlier with friends for a stag do.
He is thought to have jumped over a wall and fallen down a steep cliff after becoming disorientated as he tried to head back to his holiday hotel.
The plant mechanic was found by police at the bottom of a ravine.
Sister Jillian Monks, 36, told the Daily Record: "We are truly heartbroken. Everyone who knows Greg knows how much he will be missed and what an amazing guy he was."
Greg's sisters revealed the "alarm bells" moments after he vanished from the party hotspot.

An actor whose portrayal of a knife-wielding rapist in a 60 Minutes re-enactment was cut from the program after he was found guilty of domestic violence is headed back to court. Joel Aaron Baker recently boasted on social media about his role on Nine's flagship current affairs program, which aired ten days after he was convicted and placed on a conditional release order. The June 8 edition of 60 Minutes featured a report by Tara Brown about Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in the 2007 disappearance in Portugal of British toddler Madeleine McCann. Brown had interviewed Irishwoman Hazel Behan, who claimed she was raped by Brueckner in 2004, and the program featured a re-enactment of that alleged attack. Baker portrayed a balaclava-clad Brueckner, dressed all in black and carrying a hunting knife, as he tormented a terrified Ms Behan. What 60 Minutes viewers did not know was that on May 29 he had faced a magistrate at Sutherland Local Court. On that day Baker was cleared of assaulting his wife but convicted of another domestic violence-related offence - destroying or damaging property. The destroy or damage property charge stemmed from an incident which occurred at the former couple's marital home last year. Baker was placed on a 12-month conditional release order and made the subject of a two-year apprehended violence order protecting his wife, and is prohibited from going within 50m of her home or workplace. The 36-year-old, from Sylvania Waters in Sydney's south, has now lodged an appeal against that conviction and finding of guilt in the NSW District Court. Baker split from his wife in October last year and is only allowed to contact her through a lawyer. As part of his conditional release order, Baker must comply with a treatment plan and take part in a domestic violence program under the supervision of a community corrections officer. Two months earlier, Baker had seven other domestic violence-related common assault charges dismissed after being found not guilty, also at Sutherland Local Court. A day after the 60 Minutes episode was aired, Baker posted on Facebook and Instagram about his latest acting experience. 'A small acting job I got to do for a re-enactment on last night's episode of 60 Minutes on Channel 9,' he wrote. Baker describes himself as an actor, model, DJ and 'digital creator', but until three years ago he was the manager of a McDonald's outlet. A post on Baker's Instagram account about his 60 Minutes appearance featured footage of his performance. Balaclava-clad gang murdered tourist, 27, after following him home from London nightclub in ‘botched bag robbery'
A GANG wearing balaclavas murdered a tourist after following him home from a London nightclub in a botched bag robbery. The 27-year-old man was visiting from Greece and on a night out with friends before he was followed for eight miles and brutally robbed and knifed to death. 2 Five men have now been found guilty of murder following the botched robbery. Antonis Antoniadis, 27, had gone to a nightclub near Oxford Circus with friends in the early hours of July 7 last year before he was robbed and knifed to death. They left the club at around 8.15am and caught a taxi back to Florence Terrace, New Cross, where they were staying with a friend. What they didn't know was that they were being followed by a gang who had spent several hours in central London in a stolen car. They followed Antonis and his friends for eight miles and more than 30 minutes back to New Cross. As Antonis and his friends were attempting to get into their address, Sofian Alliche, Shian Johnson, Joshua McCorquodale, and Alfie Hipple exited the vehicle. The other, Amin Alliche, who was 17 years old at the time, remained in the driver's seat of the car. The group of four, all wearing balaclavas and armed with large knives, grabbed Antonis' bag before they stabbed him in the chest and right thigh. The wound to Antonis' leg severed his femoral artery causing catastrophic blood loss. He initially survived the attack and fought for his life in hospital for two weeks before passing away on Sunday, July 21 last year. Amin Alliche then drove them across the Thames to Northwest London where they sold the device. After returning to their "home turf" in Camden, they hid the stolen vehicle under a car cover. There was no CCTV of the attack but after a gruelling investigation, the police tracked the gang's movements and recovered the stolen car which ultimately proved they were responsible for killing Antonis. Several of their addresses were searched during the investigation where a number of weapons were seized. A zombie knife, five machetes, two swords, two lock knives and seven other knives were found. Amin Alliche,18, Sofian Alliche, 20, both of Bury Place, Holborn, Shian Johnson, 26, of Argyle Walk, King's Cross, Joshua McCorquodale, 20, of Upper Park Road, Chalk Farm, and Alfie Hipple, 18, of Kentish Town Road, Camden, were all found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit robbery following an eight-week trial at the Old Bailey. They will be sentenced at the same court on Friday, October 3. Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, Specialist Crime South, said: 'Antonis had been visiting from Greece with friends. Very tragically he never made it home to his family. "This was a particularly challenging and complex case given the lack of CCTV at the scene and the movement of the vehicle, which had been driven by the defendants continuously throughout the night of 6 July and into the following afternoon. 'I would like to thank in particular Antonis' friends, who had witnessed his brutal murder and returned to the UK to give their evidence. "I would also like to thank the witnesses' who came forward and helped us to understand what had happened to Antonis. I am pleased our concerted efforts to find those responsible has enabled us to achieve justice for Antonis' loved ones, family, and friends.'

Prince Andrew should testify to US lawmakers under oath over his ties to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, says top lawyer
A top lawyer representing Jeffrey Epstein 's victims has demanded Prince Andrew testifies about his links to the infamous paedophile socialite. Famed lawyer Gloria Allred, 84, said the Duke of York should volunteer to speak under oath before Congress. The 65-year-old has maintained his denial of ever sleeping with Virginia Giuffre, the Epstein victim Andrew was pictured with when she was 17, with the pair standing next to jailed predator Ghislaine Maxwell. Andrew's lawyers have denied that he has refused to cooperate with US Epstein investigators. Allred told The Daily Mirror: 'Now more than ever, he should come forward. He could volunteer to testify publicly. 'Is he willing to testify before Congress? Is he willing to give more information to the Justice Department? And if not, why not? 'His silence is a statement that he's not willing to help for some reason.' It came as a bombshell book called Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, by Andrew Lownie, revealed Jeffrey Epstein said of Prince Andrew: 'We are both serial sex addicts. He's the only person I have met who is more obsessed with p***y than me. 'From the reports I've got back from the women we've shared, he's the most perverted animal in the bedroom. He likes to engage in stuff that's even kinky to me – and I'm the king of kink!' The book, which the Duke and Duchess of York tried to ban, explores how the couple 'fell from grace because of the flaws in their own characters and how they were allowed to leverage their privileged position as royals for personal gain with the connivance of the institution itself.' The book also details claims of Prince Andrew's infidelity and bedroom antics - from sleeping with scores of women while on ambassador trips to making lewd comments to women he met during everyday life as the late Queen's favourite son. It said the nickname 'Randy Andy' was given to Prince Andrew while he was at Gordonstoun public school. He allegedly earned the name because he was already sexually experienced, good looking and girls were attracted to him. While he has never had trouble picking up women, a family friend said: 'He's not a hunter of women. He rather expects them to come to him. But when they do, he shows himself to be bone idle and not very socially adept at chatting them up.' The Duke of York has long faced criticism for his friendship with Epstein (pictured in 2011), which carried on even after the socialite's imprisonment for sex offences in 2008 One woman he propositioned said: 'He's about as subtle as a hand grenade. Andrew is also said to have certain juvenile characteristics, such as taking advantage of his position to humiliate others who may not be able to respond. At a society event in 1992 he reportedly unzipped broadcaster Tania Bryer's evening dress the full length of her back. Then at a dinner party he allegedly sniffed the pâté served as a first course and turned to his right, saying, 'This pâté smells. What do you think?' His female companion leaned forward to smell it and he promptly pushed her face into the dish. One of his dates recalled how he always introduced himself to her friends as the Duke of York, 'even when we were dancing on tables at two in the morning at Momo.' After a house party in Dorset, one young woman complained: 'One minute you're having your bum pinched and the next minute he's reminding you he's Your Royal Highness.' The controversial prince even left an impression on former Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Andrew asked to have lunch with Johnson when he was Mayor of London, turning up with a list of things he wanted to talk about. He wanted to redesign traffic lights with 'fewer red lights', thought the whole of Battersea Power Station should be demolished, including the listed towers and felt the Queen Elizabeth II Centre was too small and not fit for purpose. Before her death by suicide in April, Virginia Giuffre said she was approached by Maxwell in 2000 and eventually was hired by her as a masseuse for Epstein, who took his own life in prison aged 66 in 2019. But the couple effectively made her a sexual servant, she said, pressuring her into gratifying not only Epstein but his friends and associates. Donald Trump and his then-girlfriend Melania Knauss with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at the Mar-a-Lago club, Palm Beach, Florida, on February 12, 2000 Giuffre said she was flown around the world for appointments with men including Prince Andrew while she was 17 and 18 years old. The men, including Andrew, denied that and questioned Giuffre's credibility. The prince settled with Giuffre in 2022 for an undisclosed sum, agreeing to make a 'substantial donation' to her survivors' organisation. While Andrew has long been criticised on both sides of the Atlantic, Allred, the attorney for some of Epstein's victims, also said she believes Andrew's name appears in files on Epstein held by the US government that many are asking to be made public. President Trump, who was close friends with Epstein for decades, suggested while campaigning for the last election that he would release the files. His campaign team wrote on X: 'President Trump says he will DECLASSIFY the 9/11 Files, JFK Files, and Epstein Files.' However, since his election he has backtracked. His former pal Elon Musk has criticised the Trump administration for not releasing the files. This year, Trump claimed the files were a 'hoax' and a 'scam' by Democrats who had peddled 'bulls***' to former MAGA supporters. Musk responded on X by saying: 'Wow, amazing that Epstein '' killed himself'' and Ghislaine is in federal prison for a hoax.' Then on July 15, Trump said: 'It's pretty boring stuff. It's sordid, but it's boring, and I don't understand why it keeps going. 'I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going.' He later admitted the US attorney general had not told him the files were a hoax, but said he (Trump) 'knew' it was.
