Hoda Kotb returns to host 'Today' with Jenna Bush Hager: What to know

Yahoo3 days ago

Hoda Kotb is coming home to the fourth hour of "Today" for one day only.
The morning show fan favorite will join her former co-host Jenna Bush Hager on Wednesday, May 28, to debut a new wellness company and co-host "Jenna and Friends."
"Surprise! Our girl @hodakotb is our #JennaandFriends co-host tomorrow 🩷 Tune in!" the show's official Instagram page posted.
Bush Hager previously teased the news on a May 22 broadcast, giving viewers a clue about a mystery guest co-host: "They are a former basketball star turned bestselling author," Bush Hager said. "Who is it? Nobody knows."
A 2018 article from the "Making Space" podcast host's hometown newspaper said she lettered in basketball in high school. Kotb has authored several books including "I Really Needed This Today," "I've Loved You Since Forever" and "This Just Speaks to Me."

After exiting "Today" in January, Kotb returned to the morning show in March to promote her forthcoming book "Jump and Find Joy: Embracing Change in Every Season of Life," an aptly titled nod to her next chapter. She stepped back from the "Today" franchise to focus on her life as a mom to her two young daughters, Haley and Hope.
On April 28, a month to the day ahead of its launch, Kotb posted an Instagram video to celebrate one month until the wellness company arrived. "I'm bursting, and I can't wait to share it with you," Kotb told fans, adding that she was "so excited" about her buzzy project.
Kotb announced her departure from "Today" in late September and later told the morning show's audience that her last day would be Jan. 10. Hager started hosting the fourth hour on "Jenna & Friends" with a slew of rotating fill-in co-hosts since Jan. 13.

On her last day at "Today," Kotb told fans during her final message that "this is not a goodbye letter, this is a love letter," reading aloud a note she penned to viewers.
She was replaced on the first two hours of "Today" by Craig Melvin, who now co-host the show opposite of Savannah Guthrie and continues to host the third hour of "Today" opposite Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones. Jones has been absent since December amid the brain cancer battle of her late husband Uche Ojeh.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift Seen in Deep Conversation at Dinner in NYC

On Saturday night, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez reunited in New York City for dinner at Monkey Bar, as seen in photos shared by gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi. The pop stars appeared to be unaccompanied. Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is reportedly in Kansas City for the annual Big Slick charity live show, raising money for pediatric cancer research. Gomez's fiancé, Benny Blanco, was not on the scene, but he did post on Friday about missing her, so he may be away. In the snapshot, the friends are in deep conversation and seated in a booth. Swift appears to be reacting in shock or surprise to something Gomez is saying. The Eras Tour star is wearing a black tank top lined with silver sequins, and the Only Murders in the Building actress has on a dark scoop-neck shirt under what appears to be a jacket with wide lapels. Gomez has her hair up in a sleek bun and is wearing small gold hoops. This was a big week for Swift, who just announced she has purchased the rights to her master recordings after a number of years battling to get them back from first Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records and then Shamrock Capital. In a letter to fans, she wrote, 'I'm trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow. As a flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for a chance to get to tell you this news. I almost stopped thinking it could happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now.' After Swift posted the news on Instagram, Gomez shared it in her Stories, writing, 'Yes you did that Tay! So proud.' Before regaining her masters, Swift had been re-recording her albums and fans were anticipating the next (Taylor's Version) release, expecting Reputation. Swift clarified that she has actually not gotten far with with re-recording the 2017 album. 'Full transparency: I haven't even re-recorded a quarter of it,' Swift wrote in her letter. 'The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it. All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposefully misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief.' Swift continued, 'To be perfectly honest, it's the one album in those first six that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music or photos or videos. So, I kept putting it off. There will be a time (if you're into the idea) for unreleased vault tracks from that album to hatch.'

Woman Takes a Pregnancy Test—First Place She Goes Leaves Internet in Tears

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. An emotional Instagram reel has captured a pivotal moment in two women's friendship. The clip shows Emma Walz waiting on her best friend to answer the door to deliver the news of her positive pregnant test—only 45 minutes after receiving it herself. The best part? Walz's best friend has a new baby of her own, meaning the friends can finally mother alongside each other after a dream they thought was gone. Walz, 23, spoke to Newsweek about the touching announcement and what she is most looking forward to as she and her best friend, Liv, grow as parents together. Photos from Emma Walz's Instagram video of her telling her best friend she's pregnant. Photos from Emma Walz's Instagram video of her telling her best friend she's pregnant. @mrsemmawalz/Instagram "Telling my best friend I'm pregnant (the only one who knew I was a day late)," Walz captioned the reel. "We were engaged together, got married within a few months of each other, and then she got pregnant. And it wasn't time for Josh and I to even start trying months later, she's holding her son, and it's finally time for us to be in the same season again." Speaking further about her journey, Walz said she and her husband had waited for years to have a positive pregnancy test—but not because of fertility issues. The couple got married at 19 and "knew it wasn't wise to have babies yet, as much as [they] wanted them." The bond between Walz and her best friend, Liv, has been strong for years. The two met at nursing school, and they are now emergency room and intensive care unit nurses at the same hospital—but timing differences in life milestones meant they weren't walking in lockstep anymore. "Our seasons separated when she got pregnant in May 2024 with her son," Walz said. "I was the first person she told after her husband. I was so excited, but really struggled with grief surrounding it not being time for my husband and I to start trying yet. Liv and I always wanted to have babies at the same time, and we realized that wasn't going to happen." Despite the bittersweet feelings, Walz and her husband waited for the right time. Finally, in March of 2025, they got pregnant. 'The Honor of My Life' Once she received the news, Walz knew she couldn't wait to tell her best friend that their shared dream was finally happening. "Liv was the only one who knew I was a day late for my period. I knew that when I tested, if I didn't immediately drive to her, it would never be a surprise," she said. "So, we drove immediately to her home and told her 45 minutes after I found out myself. I think that video shows the relief between both of us that it was finally time to be in the same season." Walz also expressed gratitude for Liv's support during her waiting period, saying she has been "gracious" while celebrating her own pregnancy while holding Walz's grief in waiting. "Grieving my wait for motherhood, despite being the one still choosing to use contraception was bizarre," Walz admitted. "The sacrifice of waiting was for this baby and their future, but it didn't change how bad I still wanted this time to come sooner." Now, the friends' shared dream of motherhood alongside each other is coming true—and they couldn't be more excited. "We get to raise our babies side by side," Walz concluded. "I was in her delivery suite, and she'll be in mine. It's the honor of my life to love and be loved so well."
