Thomas Tuchel unhappy with lack of quality in England win against Andorra

Harry Kane finally gave the 6,950 travelling fans something to cheer about when he broke the deadlock early in the second half, turning in lively Noni Madueke's cross, but the expected goals onslaught did not follow.
'I am not happy with the performance, of course,' German coach Tuchel said on ITV1.

'We started quite well in the first 20-25 minutes, which was the only part where I had the feeling it was only a matter of time, we created a lot of half-chances and from set-pieces, that we will score and keep on going.
'But we lost completely the momentum and couldn't get it back through the whole of the first half.
'We got a little bit of it back in the first 15 minutes of the second half and then ended up in a period which was by far not good enough – lack of urgency, lack of quality and lack of energy.'
England play a friendly against Senegal in Nottingham on Tuesday night and Tuchel is expecting a much-improved display.
'We can just admit it that it's not what we expect from us and we need to do better,' the England boss added.
'We need a bit of time to look at it in detail and address it clearly and directly to be better on Tuesday.'
Tuchel was also not happy with how England finished the match.
'We have to play until the 93rd minute. I didn't like the lack of urgency in the end,' he said.
'It did not match the occasion at all, it is still a qualifier away from home, I didn't like it at all.
'The players know all I said to you, because I said it in the dressing room, but it is also necessary to have a look in detail, watch the match again, and then we will let them know tomorrow what we want from them.'
England captain Kane accepted it 'wasn't the greatest performance'.
The Bayern Munich forward added: 'I don't think many people will remember this one but we can learn from it.
'It is very hot here, a dry pitch, probably similar conditions to maybe next year at the World Cup, so we will go away and analyse.
'We had good spells in the game but we couldn't have attack after attack. We take the three points and we move on.'
"Some of the players looked bored" 🥱

England's listless display did not sit well with former Republic of Ireland international Roy Keane, who offered a scathing post-match analysis.
'We try and make excuses for England with the end of the season and it's been tough on the players,' the former Manchester United midfielder said on ITV1.
'I thought the first half was okay but when they scored the goal it felt it was job done.
'I was really disappointed with England's attitude after the goal went in. The manager can't be happy with that effort in the last half an hour.
'I felt like some of the players looked like they got bored in the last half an hour and I don't like to see that.'

Aaron Ramsey agrees surprise transfer as Cardiff manager hunt thrown into chaos

The former Arsenal and Juventus star is desperate to lead Wales into battle at next year's World Cup and a move to Mexico would be the perfect way to acclimatise to the demands of next summer's tournament Aaron Ramsey has agreed a deal to sign for Pumas UNAM in Mexico - taking himself out of the race to be the next Cardiff City manager. He would become the first high-profile British player to play in the Mexican league should the formalities of the move be completed. Ramsey was appointed Cardiff interim manager for the final three games of the Championship season after the club sacked Omer Riza. But the 34-year-old was unable to prevent Cardiff from being relegated to the third tier. ‌ He had been eager to discuss the opportunity of taking the role on and combining it with playing duties and, at one point, had been heavy favourite with bookmakers. But the ex-Arsenal and Juventus star had also made it clear that he wants to continue his playing career and lead Wales at the World Cup next summer. ‌ 'There's a lot to play for and that World Cup is a massive carrot being dangled,' Ramsey said in April. According to the Press Association, Ramsey has agreed a deal to sign for Pumas - also known a Club Universidad Nacional. They finished sixth in the 2024-25 Mexican standings and qualified for the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Ramsey returned to his boyhood club Cardiff in 2023, but injuries have restricted his game time and he is currently recovering from hamstring surgery. Cardiff are continuing their quest to find a permanent replacement for Riza, having seen top target Nathan Jones agree a new long-term contract with Championship new boys Charlton Athletic. Des Buckingham, Brian Barry-Murphy and Ian Evatt have all been previously considered.

Alisson makes admission on his Liverpool future as he reaches 'decisive moment'

Alisson has been Liverpool's No 1 for seven years but his contract is winding down as questions over his Liverpool future emerge ahead of next summer's World Cup Alisson admits he doesn't want talk of his Liverpool future to dominate the headlines ahead of a World Cup year but claimed the Reds "will probably exercise" the one-year option to extend his deal. The goalkeeper moved Anfield from Roma in 2018 for a then world-record fee and he has been crucial to their success ever since. He's just won the Premier League for a second time and, in his first year, landed the Champions League. ‌ Alisson is regarded as one of the Premier League's greatest ever goalkeepers and produced a career-best performance as Liverpool beat PSG in Europe back in March. He would leave a huge void if he did depart, but doesn't expect to. ‌ The Brazilian concedes he doesn't make long-term decisions but expected to remain with Liverpool as they continue building under Arne Slot with a World Cup triumph in America on his radar come next summer. He said: "I've never been able to plan long term. Obviously now I have one year left on my contract and another year of club option, which they will probably exercise. It's a decisive moment in my career, with a World Cup coming up. I want to be very focused, I don't want anything external to get in the way of that." Alisson would attract no shortage of attention if he did want to leave Anfield. One avenue that could open up would be a return to his homeland. The 32-year-old began his career at Internacional before heading to Europe and seeing out careers back in Brazil has been a common move. The likes of Neymar and Philippe Coutinho have returned to South America and Alisson admits he's heard mixed things. He said: "I talk to athletes who have made this move to return, some have had good experiences, others not. Each one will have their own experience, but I want to return, especially to Inter. I don't know when it will happen, but I still want to do it at a high level. That's what I have planned." Liverpool have just allowed Caoimhin Kelleher, who has served as Alisson's deputy, to leave for Brentford. The Irishman has long shown that he has the qualities to be first choice for a Premier League club. However the Reds' decision to cash in suggests they weren't planning for him to be their No 1 long-term. ‌ Kelleher has been allowed to move to Brentford in an £18m deal. Conversely there have been several arrivals. Liverpool have announced the signing of 20-year-old star Armin Pecsi - he joins from Puskas Akademia for £1.5m. That is a club-record fee for the Hungarian top flight club. Last year a £30m agreement was agreed that will see Georgian No 1 Giorgi Mamardashvili arrive on July 1. He was allowed to remain at Valencia but will head to Liverpool off the back of an impressive Euro 2024 that made a number of teams stand up and take note. Liverpool have proved shrewd operators when it comes to moving players on once they begin declining. There is no sign of Alisson leaving but the likes of Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can have been unable to achieve the heights they did at Anfield once departing.
