One soldier was bleeding from the ear as he marched, sword in hand, with fellow officers-in-training from the inter-army military academy.
As the parade came to a close, a horse broke away from the Republican Guards cavalry formation, while another fell to the ground.
The show went on with no other disruptions, featuring several regiments from the army, marines, and civil security including rescue dogs, aircraft, and motorized police.
Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, one of the key events of the French Revolution. The day is a national holiday in France.
