Sadar offering CT-scan on prescriptions from private docs
1 2 Ranchi: People carrying prescriptions from private doctors can also avail Computed Tomography Scan (CT) at a nominal charge of Rs 1,035 at Sadar hospital. The move is aimed to offer financial relief to patients, especially from low-income families, officials said. Since its launch on June 10, the modern diagnostic facility equipped with a 128-slice CT scan machine has seen a surge in footfall, with many patients reporting that they had long delayed the test due to high charges at private centres. Under public-private partnership (PPP) model, the service is being managed by Krishna Diagnostics. The initiative ensures that both Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries and non-Ayushman patients have access to affordable imaging services. While tests are free for Ayushman cardholders, others are charged as per Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates Rs 1,035 for CT scans and Rs 1,662 for MRIs. Ranchi civil surgeon, Dr Prabhat Kumar, said, " Patients no longer need referrals from government doctors. Anyone can walk in with any valid prescription from a private practitioner, register at the counter, and get the test done with no additional approval needed. For many, this flexibility has been transformative. Shanti Devi, a resident of Morabadi, said, "My father was asked to get a CT scan. Private labs quoted Rs 4,200, which we couldn't afford. At Sadar, we paid Rs 1,035, and everything was managed professionally. It was a huge relief." Another patient, Ashok Kumar from Lalpur, said, "I was hesitant to get the scan done due to cost. But when I heard that it's available at just Rs 1,035 at Sadar even on a private doctor's prescription, I didn't wait. The machine is modern, and the staff was very supportive." Sunita Kumari, a domestic worker who brought her 10-year-old son for a scan, said, "Earlier, I would've had to borrow money or skip the test. Now, I got it done at a cost we could manage. This is real help for people like us." Additionally, the hospital will start Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services at affordable rates for all patients, including those with prescriptions from private doctors. The service is expected to begin next week.

Demand for MSME stock exchange in UP
Lucknow: Based on its on-ground experience of interaction with UP's diaspora in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh Development Forum — a not-for-profit social organisation working to integrate UP diaspora for development of the state — has urged the Uttar Pradesh govt to establish a dedicated MSME National Stock Exchange in Uttar Pradesh. In a letter to UP MSME minister Rakesh Sachan, UPDF president Pankaj Jaiswal wrote: "While existing stock exchanges such as BSE and NSE offer an SME platform for IPOs, these often operate under the overwhelming shadow of large-cap markets much like a sapling growing under a Banyan tree. We believe that if UP being the national leader in MSMEs takes the bold step of establishing a dedicated MSME Stock Exchange, it would serve as a catalytic financial institution for MSMEs across India." He added UP's exchange could focus exclusively on the unique capital needs of small and medium enterprises. He listed out several advantages of the exchange, such as simplified and fast-track listing procedure; tailored compliance mechanisms; sector-specific investor networks. This scheme promotes the development of private industrial parks under a "build, own, and operate" model, allowing land development from 10 to 50 acres with significant incentives, including 100% exemption on stamp duty, loan assistance at just 1% interest rate, grant support of up to Rs 4 crore, 10 years exemption on electricity duty, as well as GST and income tax exemptions. Facilities such as testing labs, effluent treatment plants, and road connectivity are also supported. He also invited entrepreneurs to invest in UP and share knowledge with local industries. On this occasion, Ashok Tiwari proposed organising a National MSME Conclave in Uttar Pradesh.

SHO denied anticipatory bail by Hisar court after affair with accused
Gurgaon: In a case that saw professional codes breached and lines between sleuth and suspect blur, an SHO who had an affair with the man she was tasked with investigating now faces arrest. The 50-year-old inspector was rapped for conduct "unbecoming of a police officer" as a sessions court in Hisar denied her anticipatory bail in an FIR filed against her at Azad Nagar police station on June 9 under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, IT Act and relevant sections of BNS. The court, however, also rapped police for adding irrelevant charges to the FIR. The complaint in the case is the wife of Aman Siwach, the man the SHO was investigating in a property encroachment case. Siwach's wife alleged the cop "deliberately" kept her husband under the influence of alcohol and forced him to spend Rs 1 lakh a month on her. She also claimed the SHO threatened to frame Aman in a rape case. The FIR was registered against the SHO after Siwach's wife furnished WhatsApp chats and audio recordings as evidence. The cop moved court, seeking protection from arrest. But additional sessions judge Manglesh Kumar Choubey, while denying bail, observed that while intimate relationships between consenting adults are protected under Article 21 of the Constitution, they become "immoral" when the parties are already married (the SHO is married, too). The court was also critical of an investigating officer getting into a relationship with an accused, describing it as "moral turpitude". The court insisted on the need for the SHO's custodial interrogation to investigate the money trail and prevent interference with witnesses. "This was not a one-time affair, it continued. This relationship was not confined to personal intimacy but encompassed within its ambit every possible attempt of interference in the working of the police force. Such acts and conduct are not expected from any public servant, but it was unbecoming of a police officer heading a police station. Her custodial interrogation is absolutely essential for proper investigation, to confront her with all the transactions on the records, to investigate the money trail, and to stop her from interfering with the investigation and influencing the complainant and witnesses," the judge ruled. The court also reprimanded police for adding several unwarranted sections to the FIR against the cop, stating that such actions did not merit "any medal or appreciation". "Let all investigating officers know that the addition of unwanted and irrelevant offences in any FIR does not make them eligible for any medal or appreciation," the court said.
