Tejashwi forms sub-committees to prepare for polls
Notably, the manifesto sub-committee includes four members from the RJD, compared to three from Congress and two from the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), led by Mukesh Sahani, signalling the RJD's dominant role in shaping the alliance's poll agenda.
Members from the RJD, Congress, VIP and the Left parties – CPI, CPI(ML) and CPI(M) – have been included across the sub-committees.
These panels will submit reports and recommendations to the chairman of the coordination committee periodically, who will take the final call on key decisions.
The publicity sub-committee includes RJD MPs Sanjay Yadav and Abhay Kushwaha, Bhola Yadav (RJD), Mohd Javed, Manoj Ram, and Sameer Kumar Singh (Congress), Shashi Yadav and Prakash Kumar (CPI-ML), Sandeep Yadav and BK Singh (VIP), Janaki Paswan and Sanjay Yadav (CPI) as well as Ahmed Ali and Vinod Sharma (CPI-M).
The manifesto sub-committee features MPs Manoj Jha and Sudhakar Singh, Anwar Pasha, and Prof Subodh Mehta (RJD); Amitabh Dubey, Karuna Sagar, and Shiv Jatan Thakur (Congress); Meena Tiwari and Prof Abhyudaya (CPI-ML); Sarvodaya Sharma (CPI-M); Prof Dinesh Sahni and Md Nurul Hoda (VIP); and Prof M Jabbar Alam and Rambabu Kumar (CPI).

Maha Cong chief Sapkal slams BJP over its 'obsession with Congress-free India'
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Harshwardhan Sapkal on Monday said that in its obsession with creating a Congress-free India, the BJP has itself become Congress-filled. Sapkal in his address at the two-day workshop for newly appointed Congress office bearers said: "Congress is the oldest and most experienced political party in the country, committed to its ideology. 'Congress has strong and capable leadership and dedicated workers. In contrast, BJP is like a witch that devours members from other parties. If you look at the Chief Minister's circle or the cabinet, you will see mostly Congress people. They claim to have one crore members and a leader like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but that leadership is hollow and weak. That's why they are forced to induct Congress workers — a tragedy in itself. In their obsession with creating a Congress-free India, the BJP has itself become Congress-filled." Sapkal said that the Congress party does not believe in waking up only during elections and becoming inactive afterwards; it is a continuous movement working towards self-rule. Legislature Party leader Vijay Wadettiwar said there are many challenges ahead. Congress has never considered power as supreme; it has worked keeping Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities in mind. 'BJP, however, is running the government only for two industrialists. Power should be for the common man. Connect with the people, build your identity through work and merit. Go to every home, understand people's problems, and work with the vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,' he added. Wadettiwar said that the BJP alliance runs a looter government in Maharashtra. They have massive power, ED, and CBI at their disposal. Loot is rampant, and 40 per cent commission is being pocketed, he alleged. Senior leader and Congress Working Committee member Balasaheb Thorat said that the party has seen difficult times and defeats, yet it has risen again to victory. 'The current state government's functioning is appalling — assaults happen inside the Assembly, legislators brawl in the canteen, gunfire takes place, and corruption is rampant. We must take up issues close to the public's heart — banking, farmers' concerns, and the large-scale corruption in NAFED. Work on these issues and the people will stand with us,' he commented. Thorat assured, adding that Congress will bring governments that uphold its ideology and the Constitution.

K.N. Rajanna, known for sparking controversies, finally exits Cabinet
K.N. Rajanna, leader from the Scheduled Tribes community who has now been sacked from the State Cabinet, has been sparking controversies continuously in the ruling Congress over the last two years. Known to be a close aide of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and a strong critic of the functioning of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Mr. Rajanna, 74, elected from Madhugiri constituency in Tumakuru district, has embarrassed the Congress high command on many occasions by issuing public statements on party and government matters. The three-time MLA and one-time MLC's latest remarks about alleged irregularities in voter lists has dismayed the party high command, which apparently directed Mr. Siddaramaiah to sack him from the Cabinet. Mr. Rajanna's remarks came at a time when the Congress, led by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, has launched a nationwide protest against 'vote theft'. Mr. Gandhi staged a protest in Bengaluru on August 8. The high command's direction to sack Mr. Rajanna from the Cabinet is also seen as a stern message to the Chief Minister's loyalists to adhere to the party's discipline. History of controversies In the past, Mr. Rajanna had made several controversial statements which had embarrassed the party leaders. During the Budget Session of the legislature in March, Mr. Rajanna triggered a controversy claiming that vested interests had honey-trapped 48 people, including legislators and Central leaders. His remarks apparently did not go down well with the high command when the Parliament Session was on. Incidentally, on the day of Mr. Rajanna's sacking, the Assembly passed a resolution revoking the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs. The legislators were suspended for six months for creating a ruckus while protesting against the 'honey-trap' allegations by Mr. Rajanna. A few days ago, Mr. Rajanna, who was actively involved in the cooperative sector since the early 1970s, was removed as Minister in charge of Hassan district. In the game of one-upmanship between Mr. Siddaramaiah and Mr. Shivakumar, Mr. Rajanna had demanded the appointment of three more Deputy Chief Ministers representing the Veerashaiva-Lingayats, the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, and the minority communities in an attempt to 'weaken' Mr. Shivakumar. He is currently holding multiple posts including that of the lone Deputy Chief Minister. Advocating the principle of 'one-person, one-post' as part of the Udaipur declaration of the Congress, Mr. Rajanna demanded replacement of Mr. Shivakuamar as the KPCC chief. Mr. Rajanna met Central leaders several times seeking execution of their announcement in 2023 that Mr. Shivakumar, who holds the post of KPCC chief, would be replaced after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Dropping the leader from the Ministry is seen as an 'achievement' for Mr. Shivakumar. The leader, who was summoned by the ED in an alleged money-laundering case in 2019, has been saying that Mr. Siddaramaiah would be the Chief Minister for the full-term. In July, Mr. Rajanna made public his displeasure about AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala's one-to-one meetings with MLAs and Ministers. He even skipped the meeting with Mr. Surjewala. Predictions on September A couple of months ago, Mr. Rajanna claimed that 'major political developments' would take place after September in Karnataka, amid speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle and leadership change later this year.
