Cologne moved to the brink of promotion to the Bundesliga with a 2-1 comeback win at Nuremberg in Friedhelm Funkel's first game back in charge on Friday.
Janis Antiste put the hosts ahead just after the break but Florian Kainz's double, including a winner on 90 minutes, lifted the Billygoats on to 58 points.

Elversberg and Paderborn are six points adrift with two to play and if both fail to win on Saturday at home to Eintracht Braunschweig and Magdeburg respectively, Cologne are back in the top flight at the first attempt.
Second-placed SV Hamburg can leapfrog Cologne and secure promotion on Saturday if they win at home to Ulm.
Cologne wrap up the season on May 18 at home to Kaiserslautern.
Funkel, 71, was drafted in for his third spell in charge on Monday after Cologne took a huge gamble and sacked Gerhard Struber after two games without a win - despite still being in a promotion spot.
Funkel is currently only in charge until the end of the season.

Jamie Gittens ‘agrees' to join Chelsea as transfer offer submitted
Jamie Gittens looks set to join Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window after reportedly agreeing terms with the Premier League club. The 20-year-old was on top of the Blues' three-man shortlist for a new left winger, which included Alejandro Garnacho and Nico Williams. Advertisement The move comes after Chelsea decided not to sign Jadon Sancho on a permanent deal from Manchester United and while uncertainty reigns over Mikhailo Mudryk's future. Gittens 'agrees' to join Chelsea as transfer offer submitted Chelsea have agreed a seven-year contract with Gittens, but have not yet come to agreement on the transfer fee with Dortmund, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein. The west London outfit, who have been long time admirers of the young attacker, 'submitted an official proposal' to the Bundesliga side, who see the player's sale as 'key' to their summer rebuild under manager Nico Kovacs. Advertisement Gittens is 'keen' on moving to Stamford Bridge ahead of next season and could even complete the transfer in time for the Fifa Club World Cup if both sides agree on a deal before Tuesday's deadline. Bayern Munich were previously said to be interested in the winger, who has also played as an attacking midfielder, but have not put in a bid of their own. Kane spares England's blushes in lacklustre win over Andorra
Harry Kane spared woeful England's blushes as his second half strike sealed a lacklustre 1-0 win against minnows Andorra in Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Barcelona. Thomas Tuchel's side were booed off by England fans in the RCDE Stadium after failing to impress against a team ranked 173rd in the world. Advertisement Kane's 72nd international goal ensured England avoided the ultimate embarrassment of failing to beat such lowly opposition. Tuchel is the first England manager to win his first three competitive games without conceding a goal. But given the paucity of opposition provided by Andorra, Latvia and Albania in the Group K qualifiers, that achievement rings a little hollow after this miserable display. Tuchel had warned that England's tired stars should not be expected to thrash Andorra after gruelling domestic seasons. The German cited the motivational difficulties posed by the summer international break, just before nine of his players jet off to the Club World Cup in the United States. Advertisement His fears proved prescient as England laboured to establish any rhythm in a soporific match with the feel of a pre-season friendly. It was a far cry from the pulsating drama produced by Spain and France in their recent Nations League semi-final, underlining the task facing Tuchel as he builds up to the 2026 World Cup. Tuchel didn't help England's cause by fielding an experimental side. Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones started at right-back and Chelsea right-back Reece James featured at left-back. With Declan Rice rested, Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson, 34, made his first England start since 2023, becoming the Three Lions' oldest player since Frank Lampard 11 years ago. Advertisement Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka was left out after only completing one training session this week, leaving Noni Madueke, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer to line up behind striker Harry Kane. - Bereft of ideas - Chelsea winger Madueke impressed but Palmer and Rogers were underwhelming. Andorra hadn't scored an international goal for more than two years and they quickly settled into a defensive formation that allowed England to monopolise possession. As Tuchel had predicted, England didn't find it easy to prise open a massed Andorra defence featuring nine men behind the ball at all times. Madueke's drive from the edge of the area was pushed away by Andorra keeper Iker Alvarez. Advertisement Kane should have broken the deadlock with a close-range chance from Jones' cut-back, but the England captain prodded wastefully wide. Biel Borra fired over from distance in a rare Andorran venture into the England half, which ranked as an improvement on a defeat without mustering a single shot against Albania in March. Given Tuchel's desire to see his player perform in the warm Catalan temperatures ahead of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, it was instructive to see England struggle to find the energy and purpose required to make Andorra uncomfortable. They moved the ball too slowly, and were reduced them to hopeful efforts from distance, with Jude Bellingham's 25-yard shot comfortably saved by Alvarez. Advertisement By the time Bellingham's header failed to beat Alvarez on the stroke of half-time, England looked bereft of ideas and the fans were beginning to grumble. Kane eased the mounting pressure when the Bayern Munich striker made the breakthrough five minutes after the interval. After Kane's initial shot was saved, Madueke alertly guided a low cross back into the six-yard box for the England captain to tap into the empty net. It was a modest way to reach a milestone for Kane, who has a remarkable 450 career goals for club and country in 697 games. England still couldn't find any momentum and were nearly punished in the closing stages when Guillaume Lopez's shot was blocked by Ezri Konsa. smg/pb

Hansi Flick plots summer swoop for ex-Bayern Munich veteran
Hansi Flick is considering a shock free transfer move for his Barcelona squad in the ongoing summer market. On the back of winning three trophies in his debut season in charge, Flick is not looking for major changes, but he will bring in some new faces. Advertisement The swirling question marks over who will be his No.1 next season will rumble on, amid rumours of Marc-Andre ter Stegen is leaving, with Espanyol's Joan Garcia coming in. Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has dropped multiple hints over his interest in a move to Barcelona despite Arne Slot's desire to keep him on Merseyside. However, Flick could make a left-field call, with reports from Mundo Deportivo claiming he wants to bring in 36-year-old Ivan Perisic as a free agent, after missing out on him in 2024. Perisic to Barcelona: Flick's trusted lieutenant Flick has utilised his relationship with Robert Lewandowski to great effect as the pair revived their link from Bayern Munich. Advertisement Lewandowski ended the 2024/25 season with his best numbers as a Barcelona player and Flick believes Perisic could add huge experience to his squad. Ivan Perisic The Croatia international completed a move to PSV Eindhoven last summer and he netted 18 goals in all competitions as they overhauled Ajax in the Dutch Eredivisie title race. There is no indication either way that he will sign a renewal in the Netherlands and he could be tempted by joining Flick and Lewandowski in Catalonia. Ivan Perisic in 2019/20 at Bayern Munich Perisic only played one season under Flick in Munich – on loan from Inter Milan – but 2019/20 saw the pair win a Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and UEFA Champions League treble together. Advertisement The versatile winger netted eight goals and played a crucial role in Flick's set up which could be utilised at Barcelona. A move to Spain would not be as a starter, but his flexibility and goal threat could be valuable, to allow for key rests for Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
