BPL set to ignite city with thrilling T20 action from June 15

Vadodara: The maiden edition of the
Baroda Premier League
(BPL) promises an electrifying cricketing spectacle as five teams gear up to battle for the coveted title. The teams and their coaching staff were finalized through a transparent draw system conducted by the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) on Sunday.
Speaking about the selection process, Sheetal Mehta, BCA treasurer, said, "The draw system was used to ensure fairness to every team. Over 120 players, including 20 Under-19 talents, were allotted across the five squads. Each team will be led by an icon player."
The tournament will feature 24 matches, starting on June 15 at the
Kotambi International Cricket Stadium
.
The five franchises include Alembic Warriors (owned by Nirayu Ltd), Ami Super Avengers (Ami Lifesciences Pvt Ltd), Diamond Dazzlers (Darshanam Happy Homes), A4 Power Strikers (Awesome Four), and Pruthvi Panthers (Vishv Enterprise).
Each team was acquired for Rs 1.25 crore.
Pranav Amin, BCA president, remarked, "The player selection was completely transparent. We are looking forward to a thrilling competition and wish all teams the best."
The teams will be captained by Ninad Rathwa (Alembic Warriors), Atit Sheth (Ami Super Avengers), Shashwat Rawat (Diamond Dazzlers), Bhargav Bhatt (Pruthvi Panthers), and Vishnu Solanki (A4 Power Strikers).

Renowned coaches Jacob Martin, Rakesh Patel, Pinal Shah, Kedar Devdhar, and Sukhbir Singh will mentor the teams. However, star cricketers Hardik and Krunal Pandya will not participate in the tournament.
Mehta also announced attractive prizes totaling around Rs 45 lakhs, including cash and trophies. Daily awards will recognize the best batsman, bowler, fielder, and special categories such as most sixes, boundaries, and catches.
The BCA is considering a nominal stadium entry fee and plans to invite celebrities along with organizing entertainment events to enhance the tournament's appeal.

Spread across 650 acres around the Narendra Modi Stadium, the mega sports hub will be developed in two phases at a cost of Rs 5,050 crore. Officials said land acquisition was in its final stage. Of the 814 structures marked for removal in the designated zone, 665 have already been demolished. Residents displaced by the project are being offered alternative housing within 1–3 km of the site. The Ahmedabad collector's office is acquiring land from organisations such as the Bhartiya Seva Samaj, Sadashiv Pragya Mandal, and Sant Asaram Ashram. While talks for most plots are nearly complete, the issue of the Asaram Ashram land is currently sub judice. Of the 127 structures in Shivnagar, 90 have already been razed, while demolition of 17 structures in Vanazara Vas is pending. Work is simultaneously underway to clear a planned 24-metre-wide road, which requires removal of 378 structures — 283 of which have already been demolished. In addition, 292 structures have been cleared from the land earmarked for the proposed Aquatics Centre. New Delhi [India] August 20 (ANI): Outer Delhi Warriors batter Priyansh Arya expressed his desire to stay in Punjab Kings (PBKS) for next year's Indian Premier League (IPL). In 17 matches during his IPL debut, he scored 475 runs at an average of 27.94 with a strike rate of 179.24. He scored a century and two fifties and had the best score of was the third-highest run-getter for PBKS, and his partnership with Prabhsimran Singh, another uncapped Indian, broke several records and garnered speaking to ANI, Arya said, 'I want Punjab to retain me. I don't know when the list of retention will come, but I want to stay with Punjab."Arya, who came into the limelight in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) last year, was picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 3.8 crore in the mega auctions last year. Entering at Rs 30 lakh, he attracted bids from Delhi Capitals and RCB before being picked by PBKS. Last Updated: Ahmedabad, Aug 19 (PTI) Adani Sportsline-owned Gujarat Giants announced Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) star Mohammadreza Shadloui of Iran as the captain of the team and unveiled their new-look jersey here on Tuesday. The 12th edition of the PKL kicks off on August 29 at Visakhapatnam, with Gujarat Giants opening their campaign against U Mumba the following day at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The team will play 18 league-stage matches this season with their sights set firmly on the title, Adani Sportsline said in a release. 'This year's PKL auction was a landmark for the Giants, headlined by the signing of Iranian powerhouse Mohammadreza Shadloui for Rs 2.23 crore, the highest bid of PKL Season 12. A two-time PKL champion, reigning MVP and multiple-time Best Defender, Shadloui brings unmatched defensive firepower and proven leadership credentials," it said. Shadloui expressed happiness over his appointment and said his team will give its best in the league. 'I am proud to have the opportunity to captain Gujarat Giants in PKL 12. With most of our squad in their early to mid-20s, we are a young, energetic, and dynamic unit. We are excited about the season ahead, and I thank Adani Sportsline and our coaches for trusting me with this responsibility. We will give our best," stated the new captain.
