Gary Patrick: Josie Award Nominations and Upcoming Performance at 'Dallas' Cast Reunion

'The love and support I've felt from my wife, family, and community has been overwhelming. It's shown me just how many people truly believe in what I'm doing.'— Gary Patrick
DALLAS TEXAS, TX, UNITED STATES, July 23, 2025 / EINPresswire.com / -- Singer and songwriter Gary Patrick has received four nominations from the 2025 Josie Music Awards taking place on November 2nd. The event is now in it's 11th year of celebrating independent artists and in it's fourth year at the Grand Ole Opry House. Patrick is nominated in the categories of Music Video of the Year, Americana Male Vocalist of the Year, Americana Male Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.
Known for his authentic songwriting and performances, Patrick describes the recognition as both humbling and motivating. 'There's always a personal challenge to keep improving my craft,' he shares. 'Participating in the Josie Awards has really pushed me forward. I'm still blown away and incredibly grateful to be recognized by the organization.'
The Josie Awards have become a major milestone in Patrick's music career. In 2024, he won two categories: Americana Male Artist of the Year and Americana Male Vocalist of the Year. More than 60 fans, family, and friends traveled to Nashville to support him—and he's expecting an even bigger turnout in 2025.
'I already have many friends who've bought tickets,' he says. 'The love and support I've felt from my wife, family, and community has been overwhelming. It's shown me just how many people truly believe in what I'm doing.'
When asked if he's preparing a speech, Patrick says, 'I like to speak from the heart, but I did write down some names the night before last year's show. I'll probably do the same this year. Time flies when you're up there—you've got to be quick to think.'
Patrick also emphasizes the strong sense of community that the Josie Music Awards have fostered. 'The artist-to-artist support at the Josie Awards is incredible. It's one of the most welcoming and encouraging artist communities I've ever been a part of,' he says. 'Josie and Tina Marie have created something really special—I truly appreciate their professionalism and commitment to indie artists around the world.'
In addition to his nominations, on Saturday, August 9th, Patrick will also be performing for the Southfork Experience, a 'Dallas' cast reunion and fan event. A lifelong fan of the iconic TV series Dallas, he calls the opportunity a dream come true. 'It's a full-circle moment,' he says. 'That show was what my family watched together when I was a kid. Back then, everything felt larger than life—'Who shot J.R.?' was huge! Dallas was magic; and it is still captivating audiences around the world.'
'There's so much we're looking forward to this year,' says Patrick. 'We'll be performing at the Renaissance Hotel in Richardson in front of the 'Dallas' cast and fans of the show. A couple of months later, we head to Nashville and you're all invited along for the journey.'

Oscar-Winner Botched Audition for Lead ‘Titanic' Role

Despite his many acting accolades, Matthew McConaughey dropped the ball when he auditioned for the role of Jack Dawson in Titanic in 1996. McConaughey was, if not a shoo-in, a strong contender for the role: he was a rising Hollywood star thanks to his supporting role in Dazed and Confused in 1993. He also had undeniable chemistry when he performed his scene with lead actress Kate Winslet. 'Kate was taken with Matthew, his presence and charm,' producer Jon Landau wrote in a memoir excerpt obtained by Puck. But when McConaughey read his lines with his characteristic Texas drawl, James Cameron asked him to do the scene without a Southern accent. 'That's great,' Landau remembers Cameron saying after the screen test, 'Now let's try it a different way.' 'No. That was pretty good. Thanks,' McConaughey reportedly replied. Luckily for Leonardo DiCaprio, McConaughey did not receive a call back from Cameron. Cameron's iconic 1997 movie went on to win 11 Oscars and became the highest-grossing film until Cameron's next film, Avatar, surpassed it. McConaughey went on to have a prolific career despite missing his chance with Titanic. In 2013, he won an Oscar for his lead performance in Dallas Buyers Club. McConaughey has also been allowed to maintain his signature accent in his various roles, including in films set outside the South, such as Interstellar and The Wolf of Wall Street. The Daily Beast has reached out to a representative for McConaughey for a comment request. The rest of Landau's memoir, The Bigger Picture: My Blockbuster Life & Lessons Learned Along The Way, will be released posthumously on November 4. The Titanic producer died last July at 63 after a battle with cancer. Solve the daily Crossword

Jenna Bush Hager Shares Her Dream 'Next Chapter' After Her Time on 'Today' 'Comes to a Close'

The Texas native said she's long had a vision for her and her family about life after the 'Today' show Jenna Bush Hager is thinking ahead. The 43-year-old Today with Jenna & Friends co-host opened up about her dream plans for her 'next chapter' after leaving the Today show. 'I have this sort of dream — I just think everybody should have chapters in their lives — I have a dream — I don't know how realistic it is — but when the Jenna & Friends chapter comes to a close…' Bush Hager began on the Wednesday, Aug. 6 episode of the show. 'Well, why would that ever happen?' guest co-host Matt Rogers cut in. 'Well.. linear television, baby!' Bush Hager said, laughing and shrugging. 'Who knows? But when I'm ready to go to my next chapter, I think it would be so nice to move back to Texas and let my kids — I went to a big public high school — have a different life.' The conversation came when Bush Hager and Rogers were discussing whether they'd ever consider moving back to their hometown. The daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush grew up in Austin, Texas, and said she'd happily return to the city to raise her three kids with husband Henry Hager. 'Isn't Austin great? I love Austin,' Bush Hager, who is a mom to daughters Mila, 12, Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 6, gushed. The morning show host has already tried to instill some of her Texas childhood experiences in her three kids. Earlier this summer, while discussing the tragic flooding in Kerrville, Texas, Bush Hager revealed that she sends her kids to Texas camps every summer. She said that after her husband Henry asked why they sent their kids all the way to Texas, she replied, 'Because of the love that's there,' adding, 'Texas camps are institutions.' Bush Hager joined the Today show as a correspondent in 2009. In 2019, she began co-anchoring the show's fourth hour alongside Hoda Kotb after Kathie Lee Gifford's exit. The pair co-hosted Today with Hoda & Jenna together until this past January, when Kotb left Today to focus on her daughters, Haley and Hope, and her new wellness venture. Since Kotb's exit, Bush Hager has had a series of celebrity guest co-hosts while keeping an eye out for a permanent replacement. "We're still searching," Bush Hager told PEOPLE in June. "We definitely want somebody permanent at some point just because that's our show, and I think the Today show is such a family." "So to have somebody sit in that seat means a lot to all of us. So it will happen," she continued. "I think we've all just been kind of living day by day and we don't have any developments yet, but we will." Ukrainian artist's Dallas exhibit blends beauty, resilience

At just 10 years old, Hanna Chekodanova was captivated by the Ukrainian painting style known as Petrykivka. "It was the motif, the flowers, the flow of flowers," she said. Recognized by UNESCO as a global cultural treasure, Petrykivka is more than just art—it's identity. Chekodanova has built a successful career sharing it with the world. This week, her paintings are on display at Dallas City Hall as part of the city's friendship agreement with Ukraine. The exhibit isn't just about beauty—it's about survival. "Ukrainians are having to protect their culture so drastically because that seems to be a target for Russia," said Chrystya Geremesz of the Ukrainian American Society of Texas. "So Ukrainians are showing resilience, showing the courage to stand up and say we have an identity." When the war broke out, Chekodanova didn't want to leave her home, but she had no choice. "She started hearing all of the drone attacks and missiles and sirens," Geremesz said. Chekodanova came to the United States with her husband through the Uniting for Ukraine program. But earlier this year, the federal government paused it. Now, unable to extend her stay, she must return home this month. "She feels really sad, and is very frustrated because she has to leave the United States and now after being here two years, has to start somewhere again," Geremesz said. In North Texas, Chekodanova found a community. Just 10 months ago, she welcomed her first child. "She's very grateful for America for having the opportunity to give birth to a child in a very peaceful environment," Geremesz said. "During this war, the targets were hospitals and so many women, pregnant women, have not been able to successfully deliver." Chekodanova doesn't know what the future holds, but she's choosing to have faith. It's the title of a self-portrait with her son. "Some may feel tenderness in it, others—strength, and some may see the very essence of life's continuity, enduring even through the darkest times," she writes on her website. "The composition extends a quiet invitation to trust in something greater, something felt not through words but through the heart." Her art exhibit will be on display through Friday in the main lobby of Dallas City Hall.
