Cronulla Sharks forward suffers sickening injury after horror head clash
Cronulla were blown off the park on Saturday night as the New Zealand Warriors ran riot at Sharks Stadium.
If the 40-10 scoreline wasn't bad enough, the Sharks had some injury to add to the one-sided beat down.

In the first half second rower Briton Nikora attempted to lay a tackle on Jackson Ford but it all went horribly wrong.
Nikora's head slammed into Ford's head with the Sharks player coming off second best.
The 27-year-old was slow to get back to his feet as cameras zoomed in to show a nasty cut that looked more like one you'd see inside the UFC Octagon.

The incident came shortly after the Warriors had taken a 10-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes before the Sharks responded.
Mawene Hiroti crossed first before KL Iro etched his name into the NRL record books with a try in the 33rd minute.
He becomes the first player in the NRL era (since 1998) to score a try in their first nine games of the season.
'He's had a season hasn't he,' Greg Alexander said.
'KL Iro, he has been a revelation on this left hand side of the field hasn't he,' Warren Smith added.
Sadly that's as good as it got for the Sharks who were completely blown away in the second half with the Warriors running in 28 unanswered points.
The Warriors were in complete control of the contest, scoring five tries to leave Cronulla fans in disbelief.
Cronulla's second half display left league legend Greg Alexander stunned, failing to record a simple point.
'I can't believe what has happened in the second half … but boy, everything has gone wrong,' Greg Alexander said.
For the Warriors it was their fifth win in a row in Australia and moves them level with the Bulldogs at the top of the table just a few months after there were fears they'd get the spoon following a heavy loss in Las Vegas.

Lindsay Park may never get a better chance to break its Stradbroke Handicap duck after co-trainer Ben Hayes gave Rise At Dawn the green light to join a vaunted attack on Queensland's greatest race. The famous racing dynasty has never won the Stradbroke but has raging $2.80 favourite War Machine, the sizzling winner of the BRC Sprint, and $8 second betting fancy Rise At Dawn. Rise At Dawn finished 2-1/2 lengths off Joliestar in Saturday's Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup and Hayes, who trains in partnership with his brothers Will and JD, is keen to give him a Group 1 shot seven days later. Rise At Dawn carried 59kg in the Kingsford Smith Cup, but now plunges to 52.5kg in the Stradbroke. 'I was quite happy with his run on Saturday as he was racing at short of his best trip and was racing at weight-for-age against some of the best sprinters in Australia,' Hayes said. 'He sat in behind the speed, he held his run right to the line and looks to have pulled up well. 'He now drops a stack in weight so that's a huge thing.' There have been few Stradbroke contenders in history who have been a shorter price than what War Machine is six days out from the great race. Hayes indicated War Machine had improved from the last time he was seen at the races, when blowing away his opposition and stamping his Stradbroke ticket when dominating his rivals by 2-3/4 lengths in the BRC Sprint. Hayes said both War Machine and Rise At Dawn had golden chances in the $3 million Group 1 handicap. 'Fingers crossed, you can have the two favourites but you can still get beat, but to be honest I couldn't be happier with both of these horses,' Hayes said. 'Either one of them could win. 'The big boy (War Machine) is well. 'His last run was a perfect tune-up for the Straddy and he is a very progressive horse who gets in with 53kg. 'He's a horse who is a bit lazy in trackwork, like Mr Brightside, but he turns up race day.' * Roughie king Maloney strikes again with Derby pick-up ride In other Stradbroke-related news: * Chris Waller gave boom three-year-old colt Angel Capital an exhibition gallop at the Gold Coast races on Saturday. It is likely Angel Capital would make the Stradbroke final field cut-off, but Waller is undecided about whether to race the Yulong owned youngster. * Matt Dale is strongly considering giving evergreen veteran Front Page a shot at the Stradbroke after winning the Moreton Cup on Saturday. Connections would need to pay a hefty late entry fee and Dale will decide in the next 24 years whether to unleash the rising nine-year-old on the Stradbroke. Dale has never tested Front Page over 1400m but the prospect of a weaker Stradbroke and a week of fine weather may convince connections to deploy the proven Group 1 performer. * Tony Gollan is holding out hope that Transatlantic will sneak into the Stradbroke field. Transatlantic will jump over other contenders in the ballot order after his win in the Listed Spear Chief Handicap on Saturday at Eagle Farm. After narrowly missing the Stradbroke field with Antino and Freedom Rally in the last two years, Gollan hopes Transatlantic has done enough to make the field. He is now a $13 chance. * Trainer Rob Heathcote says Rothfire 'trotted up 95 per cent sound' on Sunday morning in his recovery from a foot injury. Josh Hazlewood declares he is in top form ahead of Australia vs South Africa World Test Championship final
Buoyed by an outstanding IPL, Australia quick Josh Hazlewood feels he is bowling better than at any point in his decorated career. Struck down by niggling injuries in recent years, Hazlewood could be forgiven for starting to taper, having already taken 279 wickets from 72 Tests. Hazlewood managed just two Tests last summer, breaking down at the Gabba with a calf injury, as Australia won back the Border-Gavaskar trophy for the first time in a decade. Although he did suffer a slight shoulder injury, Hazlewood ultimately played a starring role in Royal Challengers Bangalore's breakthrough IPL title triumph last Tuesday. Hazlewood, who also won an IPL title with Chennai in 2021, finished with 22 wickets for the tournament — the third most by any bowler. Coming off a T20 workload, he has less than a week to get ready for his first Test since December. "I ticked over some good overs just before the (IPL) final in Ahmedabad, in different weather than (England's), so it was quite a tough session," Hazlewood said. Queensland captain and halfback Daly Cherry-Evans is reportedly set to be dropped by the Maroons for State of Origin Game 2. In what looms as the biggest selection call of Billy Slater's tenure so far, the Queensland coach is weighing up his halves combination for Game 2 after his side was thoroughly outplayed in the series opener. According to Code Sports, Slater is currently leaning towards axing Cherry-Evans in a bombshell selection move, with the veteran's Origin career 'all but over'. If Cherry-Evans is dropped, Cowboys playmaker Tom Dearden would be named at halfback to partner five-eighth Cameron Munster after impressing off the bench in several Origin games. Cherry-Evans' spot in the team came under scrutiny following Queensland's 18-6 loss to NSW in Game 1 as the Blues claimed consecutive wins at Suncorp Stadium for the first time in 27 years. The Queensland halves pairing came under fire after the defeat with Maroons legend Shane Webcke admitting he was worried 'the magic wasn't there'. The 36-year-old, who became the oldest ever Origin player in Game 1, has led Queensland to three State of Origin series wins and has played for the Maroons 26 times. But Queensland's attack has lacked punch in Game 1 and last year's series decider — apart from a Xavier Coates try during Brian To'o' sin bin, the Maroons haven't scored a try in the past two games. Former Queensland coach Kevin Walters said on Fox League he didn't envy Slater, describing it as a 'huge decision'. 'It's probably one of the biggest decisions that a coach has had to make at that level for some time,' Walters said. 'From a Queensland point of view, not a bigger decision has ever been made for a long time.' 'Daly is 36 and it's a big call to drop your captain, but this is a must-win. 'Daly has been a great player for Queensland but no-one beats Father Time … and it's Tom Dearden's time.' Last week former Storm and NSW player Ryan Hoffman said it would be a massive call to drop Cherry-Evans mid-series. 'To drop a captain midway through a series would be the biggest selection call in the history of State of Origin,' Hoffman told ABC Offsiders. 'That would be a huge call and could be very destabilising for the team that Bill (Slater) trying to bring together after such a bad loss at home. 'I don't think Bill will drop Daly Cherry-Evans. I think there will be some other slight sort of tweaks, but I don't think we're going to see wholesale changes.' Bulldogs utility Kurt Mann could make his debut off the bench if Dearden is elevated to the No. 7 jersey, while Beau Fermor could move into the starting side, demoting Reuben Cotter to the bench. Apart from the Cherry-Evans decision, Slater is not expected to make other wholesale changes to Queensland's line-up for Game 2. Queensland will officially name their squad for Game 2 on Monday morning.
