Director-producer , whose production 'Inspector Zende' is set to release on OTT next month, has spoken about his knack for showcasing historical characters from Maharashtra and how he mounts them for the national or international audience. He told IANS, "I want to tell the grassroots stories. I want to tell the stories that are rooted deeply into our culture. I want to tell the stories that are about Indian heroes or Indian superheroes or Indian characters, male or female, doesn't matter. The stories that we have in our culture, the stories that we have in our great history of Bharat is something that I would like to tell. And because I come from Maharashtra, these are the stories that I actually grew up with. These are the stories that were told to me by my grandparents, by my parents, my father and my mother." He further mentioned, "So, they have a very deep impact on you while growing up. And to be honest, whatever I have understood, I am only trying to recreate that into cinema. When it comes to Marathi, I am an extremely proud Marathi boy. Whatever are the stories of our culture, and that is why I have an attraction towards Marathi culture and great Marathi personalities in our history." "There is so much contribution of all these people towards building the nation that we have today. The nation that we have today is a tremendous contribution of all these forces that have come to us, you know, over a period, even pre-independence also, post-independence also," he added. Aamir Khan reveals the budget of 'Sitaare Zameen Par' went to a whopping Rs 122 crore as his partner backed out: 'I had to pay a price'
Aamir Khan 's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has been the talk of the town since its announcement. Recently, the actor revealed the film will be out on YouTube , instead of any OTT platforms. He opted for a pay-per-view model instead of selling it to an OTT platform for streaming. One has to pay Rs 100 to watch the film on his YouTube channel. And now, in a recent interview, the superstar revealed the budget of the film and how his partner backed out from the project after the actor rejected making any deals with streaming platforms. The budget of the film On the podcast, The Town with Matthew Belloni, Aamir revealed that the initial budget of the film was USD 11 million (Rs 96 crore). The actor further added that the major change in cost happened after his partners backed out from the project as they learnt that the actor would not be releasing it on an OTT platform. He said, "I had to pay a price also because I had a partner with me earlier, and they weren't very keen on this rash idea of mine." Aamir shared that his partners were not happy with him turning down the money; hence, they preferred buying them out. He added, "And so therefore the film has actually cost me about USD 14 million (Rs 122 crore); let's say between USD 14 and USD 15 million (Rs 122 Cr to Rs 133 Cr).' When the host asked about the deal between the actor and the video streaming platform, Aamir, without revealing the exact number, suggested that it is a favourable one for both of them. Reportedly, it is not a traditional 50-50 deal, like the way it is between filmmakers and theatres.
