Noodles & Company closing up to 32 locations after revenue decline

USA Todaya day ago
A national noodle chain is closing down dozens of locations amid a decline in revenue.
Noodles & Company announced on Wednesday, Aug. 13, through its 2025 second-quarter financial results news release, that it would be closing 28 to 32 company-owned locations by the year's end. The Broomfield, Colorado-based chain has been operating since 1995 and specializes in classic pasta and noodle dishes, such as pad thai and basil pesto cavatappi.
A delicious duo, the company's signature combo, comes with a small entree, protein and a side beginning at $9.95.
Noodles & Company reported a net loss of $17.6 million compared to a net loss of $13.6 million from the same time last year, according to the company's 2025 second-quarter financial results. Additionally, revenue decreased 0.7% to $126.4 million from $127.4 million.
Here is what to know about Noodles & Company's upcoming location closures.
How many Noodles & Company restaurants closed in 2025?
So far, the company has closed six restaurants in 2025 and opened one new location. An additional two franchise locations have also shut down.
The noodle chain has more than 400 locations operating around the United States.
Noodles & Company CEO Drew Madsen blamed the business's economic headwinds on 'the strong value-conscious climate' and a 'slower guest adoption of the upgrades made to some of our historic menu items.'
The company completed an overhaul of its menu earlier this year.
'We've been moving decisively to address these factors, particularly around guest value perception,' said Madsen, who announced he'd be stepping down as CEO. He will be succeeded by Joe Christina, the company's current chief operating officer.
'Joe Christina is absolutely the right leader to guide this brand forward,' Madsen said in a statement.
What is next for Noodles & Company?
Noodles & Company is planning to close another 12 to 17 restaurants in 2026, while simultaneously opening an additional two locations.
The company did not reveal which locations are likely to close and where the new restaurants will open. USA TODAY contacted Noodles & Company for comment on Friday, Aug. 15, but has not received a response.

Hawaiian Airlines to cancel only direct flight to Boston

'Despite our team's best efforts, soft post-pandemic travel demand from Asia combined with various market challenges have persisted in Seoul, as well as in Fukuoka and Boston,' Hawaiian Airlines CEO Joe Sprague said. The airline began service to Boston in 2019 and currently operates four direct, non-stop flights between Logan International Airport and Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport each week. Advertisement Logan International Airport did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Hawaiian Airlines was the only airline that offered direct flights between Logan International Airport in Boston and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, according to the 'We remain committed to continuing to provide robust Hawaiian Airlines service between Asia and Hawai'i through our nonstop Japan flights, and via one-stop connections to and from Incheon and beyond with our global partner airlines,' Sprague said. The suspension is set to go into effect Nov. 19, when all direct flights between Boston and Honolulu will cease operation. After the suspension, Boston-based travelers will have to arrange for connecting flights on their route to Honolulu and the state of Hawai'i. Advertisement 'Between Honolulu and Boston, guests can connect daily on Alaska Airlines' flights via Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and San Diego,' Hawaiian Airlines said in the statement. Travelers who booked Hawaiian Airlines flights between Honolulu and Boston after the Nov. 19 suspension will be reaccommodated with another flight to their location or receive a refund, the airline said in the statement announcing the suspension. The planes that were used to fly between Honolulu and Logan International will redirect their courses to support high-demand flight paths, the airline said. In the statement, Hawaiian Airlines said that the aircraft will be redeployed to offer an increased number of flights between Honolulu and Sydney, Australia, Papeete, Tahiti, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Technology meets hospitality at high tech coffee kiosk in downtown Denver

Denver's 16th Street is nearing the finish line on its $175.4 million revitalization project, and new businesses are quickly filling in. Among them is Javai Coffee, a tech-forward coffee shop that's offering more than just a fresh cup of Joe. Located at 16th Street and Wazee Street, Javai operates a 24/7 automated robotic coffee kiosk, serving up espresso drinks in less than 60 seconds. Co-owner Grant Ross says the $22,000 machine is designed to be both efficient and inclusive, giving downtown workers, tourists, and late-night crowds access to affordable coffee at any hour. But Ross emphasizes that the model isn't about replacing jobs. Instead, Javai hires local service technicians to maintain the machine, stocking it with fresh milk and beans sourced from Colorado vendors. "We're not taking barista jobs, we're creating opportunities," Ross explained. "We want everything about this to be Colorado, from the ingredients to the people keeping it running." As 16th Street re-establishes itself as a hub for business and entrepreneurship, Ross believes Javai can play a role in that growth. "This is where we're starting. We want to own 16th Street so people can have affordable, quality coffee," he said. For a corridor that has long been considered the backbone of downtown Denver, Javai Coffee represents both innovation and investment, a blend fueling the future of the city's economy one cup at a time.
