One of the doctors accused of providing ketamine to Matthew Perry agrees to plead guilty, filing shows
One of the doctors accused of providing ketamine to actor Matthew Perry, who died in October 2023, has agreed to plead guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine, a plea agreement filed Monday shows.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia, of Santa Monica, California, is one of five people who were charged in relation to Perry's death. Prosecutors say an underground network of drug sellers and suppliers were responsible for distributing the ketamine that killed Perry, who starred in the TV show 'Friends.'
Perry died at age 54 because of 'acute effects' of ketamine and subsequent drowning, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office autopsy report. His body was found floating face down in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home.
Plasencia faces a maximum sentence of 40 years, a three-year period of supervised release, and a fine of $2 million or twice the gross gain or loss from the offenses, whatever is greatest, as well as a mandatory $400 special assessment, the US Attorney's office for the Central District of California said. He is expected to enter his plea in the coming weeks, they said.
CNN has reached out to Plasencia's attorneys for comment.
Plasencia would be the fourth defendant to plead guilty in the case. His trial, where he would be tried alongside alleged drug dealer Jasveen Sangha, was expected to take place in August of this year.
He was originally charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine, seven counts of distribution of ketamine and two counts of altering and falsifying documents or records related to the federal investigation, according to the US Attorney's office.
In the plea agreement, Plasencia said he worked with Dr. Mark Chavez, one of the defendants who previously pleaded guilty, and sold 'twenty 5ml vials of ketamine, less than a full package of ketamine lozenges, and syringes' to Perry's personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa between September 30, 2023, and October 12, 2023.
Martin Estrada, who was US attorney for the Central District of California at the time of the charges, previously noted Plasencia's desire to make a profit from Perry.
Estrada said Plasencia wrote in a September 2023 text message: 'I wonder how much this moron will pay?' In other texts, Plasencia wrote he wanted to be Perry's sole supplier, he said.

Fox & Friends gush over ‘fantastic' producer of Trump's military parade — who once worked on their show
Four months after giving Ariel Abergel a warm on-air sendoff when he left the network, the Fox & Friends crew praised their 25-year-old former producer for his role in overseeing Donald Trump's much-hyped but sparsely attended military parade, insisting he did a 'fantastic' job producing the event. With the president's parade coming across as a 'medium-sized town's July 4th celebration' while the 'No Kings' protests drew millions of demonstrators across the country, the hosts of Trump's favorite morning show also made sure to draw a contrast between the events and frame the demonstrations as anti-American. 'So, over the weekend, a tale of two different parties,' co-host Ainsley Earhardt noted Monday morning. 'You had all these protests, the 'No Kings' protest, all over the country. They were waving Palestinian flags. They had upside-down American flags. Organized by this pro-Palestinian group called Within Our Lifetime, many of them were. They want to abolish Zionism and chant 'liberation of Palestine.'' After airing clips of police officers clashing with demonstrators, Earhardt then turned to her colleague Lawrence Jones, pointing out that he co-anchored the network's uninterrupted coverage of Trump's celebration. Jones, meanwhile, teed up footage of the president's speech before doubling down on Earhardt's remarks. 'I had so much fun,' Jones declared. The Fox News star, however, likely didn't have as much fun as the seemingly intoxicated guest he interviewed after Trump's speech, who had to be cut off as she slurred her way through her appearance. 'It was the tale of two parties,' he continued. 'The people that like America and want to build up the country, want to celebrate our country's support for the men and women that lay their lives on the line, and the people that just want to be in the middle of the street with other country's flags.' Jones went on to claim that the parade would cause military recruitment 'to go up' before gushing that the 'production there was so great,' adding that he 'can't wait to see the numbers.' Though the Trump administration has attempted to present an alternate reality where the anti-Trump protests were an 'utter failure with minuscule attendance' and the parade drew 'over 250,000 patriots,' early estimates assert that the demonstrations pulled in as many as six million people while the Trump event 'appeared to fall far short' of the planned 200,000 attendees. Co-host Brian Kilmeade also appeared to take a shot at other networks for either not carrying the Trump parade or offering split-screen coverage alongside the protests, wondering 'how could you be critical' of the message delivered by the administration's event, which was ostensibly to celebrate the Army's 250th birthday. 'It was so inspirational,' Kilmeade exclaimed, adding that he 'loved' the president's speech. After the hosts spent a few more moments fawning over the parade and Trump's address, which included them applauding the troops singing 'Happy Birthday' to the president, they once again turned their attention to their former colleague's production skills. 'Great job. Whoever produced it, and I do know somebody very well who produced it, he did a fantastic job,' Kilmeade gleefully stated as Earhardt mentioned 'Ari' and the 'great job' he carried out. 'He's a part of our family,' Jones added. Abergel, who was affectionately described by longtime Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy as 'Ari the driver,' left the conservative cable giant earlier this year to take on the role of executive director of America250, the organization that oversaw the military celebration. 'The congressionally authorized festivities, which kick off tomorrow with a Washington parade to honor the Army, are backed by more than $100 million in expected congressional appropriations and are supposed to be a nonpolitical, nonpartisan affair,' The Atlantic reported about Abergel's appointment. 'But Abergel's new role has prompted concerns even from some Trump loyalists, as well as a backlash among participants who worry that his installation portends a bid by Trump to channel the patriotism surrounding the nation's semiquincentennial into a celebration of himself.' The installation of Abergel and other Fox News veterans to the America250 operation is just another example of the symbiotic relationship between the right-wing cable network and the Trump White House. While the MAGA-boosting channel employs several former Trump administration officials and the president's daughter-in-law, Trump has hired roughly two dozen ex-Fox News employees to staff up his administration – including former Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth to run the Pentagon.

DC Studios Has Found Its Clayface
Clayface keeps picking up heat at DC. After a reportedly barnstorming pitch and script from Mike Flanagan, James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios has run forward to make the Batman rogue one of the first big stars of the new DC universe–and now we know who's going to be playing him. Deadline reports that Tom Rhys Harries has been cast in the title role in what will now be the third major film out of the rebooted DC universe after Superman and Supergirl (formerly titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow). The film, directed by Speak No Evil's James Watkins, is based off of an initial script from Life of Chuck and Fall of the House of Usher's Mike Flanagan, the purported high quality of which pushed Clayface to a top priority for DC Studios. Newer drafts of the script have been worked on by Drive's Hossein Amini. Deadline reports that Harries won the role out of a final shortlist that also included Kack O'Connell (set to appear in 28 Years Later), Hunger Games prequel start Tom Blyth, 1917 alum George MacKay, and White Lotus season 2 breakout Leo Woodall. Little is known about just which version of Clayface will feature in the film–eight characters have taken on the mantle in some capacity since Bill Finger and Bob Kane originated the character in 1940's Detective Comics #40–but Flanangan did recently confirm that his original script was heavily inspired by the character's appearance in the classic Batman: The Animated Series two-parter 'Feet of Clay'. That story used the second incarnation of Clayface from the comics, Matt Hagen, but gave him an origin inspired by the original Clayface, Basil Karlo–as a B-List actor disgfigured in a car accident who is transformed into the shapeshifting golem by an experimental cosmetics serum called 'Renuyu'. After a long and incredibly exhaustive search, we finally have our DCU Clayface in Tom Rhys Harries. Both Matt Reeves and I were just blown away by this guy, and can't wait for you to see this film, directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan. — James Gunn (@JamesGunn) June 17, 2025 'After a long and incredibly exhaustive search, we finally have our DCU Clayface in Tom Rhys Harries,' James Gunn said in a statement shared on social media, today. 'Both Matt Reeves and I were just blown away by this guy, and can't wait for you to see this film, directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan.' Clayface is expected to be the third movie released in the DC Studios slate, sometime after Supergirl, which is currently slotted for a June 26, 2026 release date. Clayface is currently expected to release September 11, 2026.
