DC Studios Has Found Its Clayface
Clayface keeps picking up heat at DC. After a reportedly barnstorming pitch and script from Mike Flanagan, James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios has run forward to make the Batman rogue one of the first big stars of the new DC universe–and now we know who's going to be playing him.
Deadline reports that Tom Rhys Harries has been cast in the title role in what will now be the third major film out of the rebooted DC universe after Superman and Supergirl (formerly titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow). The film, directed by Speak No Evil's James Watkins, is based off of an initial script from Life of Chuck and Fall of the House of Usher's Mike Flanagan, the purported high quality of which pushed Clayface to a top priority for DC Studios. Newer drafts of the script have been worked on by Drive's Hossein Amini.
Deadline reports that Harries won the role out of a final shortlist that also included Kack O'Connell (set to appear in 28 Years Later), Hunger Games prequel start Tom Blyth, 1917 alum George MacKay, and White Lotus season 2 breakout Leo Woodall.
Little is known about just which version of Clayface will feature in the film–eight characters have taken on the mantle in some capacity since Bill Finger and Bob Kane originated the character in 1940's Detective Comics #40–but Flanangan did recently confirm that his original script was heavily inspired by the character's appearance in the classic Batman: The Animated Series two-parter 'Feet of Clay'. That story used the second incarnation of Clayface from the comics, Matt Hagen, but gave him an origin inspired by the original Clayface, Basil Karlo–as a B-List actor disgfigured in a car accident who is transformed into the shapeshifting golem by an experimental cosmetics serum called 'Renuyu'.

'After a long and incredibly exhaustive search, we finally have our DCU Clayface in Tom Rhys Harries,' James Gunn said in a statement shared on social media, today. 'Both Matt Reeves and I were just blown away by this guy, and can't wait for you to see this film, directed by James Watkins and written by Mike Flanagan.'
Clayface is expected to be the third movie released in the DC Studios slate, sometime after Supergirl, which is currently slotted for a June 26, 2026 release date. Clayface is currently expected to release September 11, 2026.

Carolyn Besette Kennedy's Colorist on Those Ryan Murphy Images
When Ryan Murphy Productions dropped the first teaser images for the upcoming American Love Story, the world… well, had opinions. The new spin-off anthology series tells the story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's romance, and for many, the images left a lot to be desired. Specifically, actor Sarah Pidgeon's transformation into Carolyn, which included almost Gwen Stefani-level blonde hair. And while the Internet immediately critiqued Pidgeon's hair transformation, I wanted to go straight to the source to see how right or wrong it really was: hair colorist Brad Johns, who was known for creating Carolyn's still-talked-about blonde in the 1990s. Johns was the colorist of the era. His clients included everyone from Kate Moss and artist Cindy Sherman, to New York City socialites and fashion insiders, including, of course, Bessette. In a 1996 Vogue September issue feature, then beauty editor Amy Astley called Johns 'Golden Boy, the Founding Father of Chunking… the Color Czar.' The next year, Johns opened his eponymous salon on Fifth Avenue with eight perpetually-filled chairs. In a three-page spread from Allure's September 1998 issue, writer Martha Barnette described his signature 'chunking' technique, which became popular after he did it on Christy Turlington. It's 'basically grabbing handfuls of hair and highlighting them,' Barnette wrote. Before I reached out, Johns wasn't even aware that American Love Story was happening and hadn't seen the images. PlayStation's concert series is coming to the US
Sony is bringing its PlayStation concerts to the US this fall, where you can hear live performances of tracks from franchises like God of War, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, and Horizon. Ticket pre-sales for PlayStation: The Concert begin on Wednesday, and you can see the full list of current tour dates on the PlayStation website. In addition to music from those big tentpole games (and the setlist better include Ghost of Tsushima's incredible title drop), the concerts will showcase 'fan-favorite themes from Bloodborne, Astrobot, Journey, Uncharted, and Helldivers 2, offering a rich and diverse journey through the PlayStation universe. A live band will play the music while 'the latest LED technology and state-of-the-art multi-layered projections' will turn the stage into 'a mesmerizing visual masterpiece.' These sorts of video game concert series are becoming increasingly common. Square Enix put on a FFVII Rebirth -focused tour, for example – I went to it last year, it was fun! Kojima Productions is putting on a Death Stranding 2 concert series that will begin a world tour later this year. And after the brief orchestral performance of Balatro's soundtrack at The Game Awards last year, I'm hoping that Jimbo hits the road with his band someday, too.
