Sumadhura acquires land parcel in East Bengaluru, eyes ₹500 crore revenue

Bengaluru-based real estate developer Sumadhura Group has acquired a 5-acre land parcel on Soukya Road in East Bengaluru. The upcoming residential project on the site is expected to generate revenues of around ₹500 crore, the company said in a statement.
'This acquisition is a strategic move that reflects our understanding of the evolving real estate landscape in East Bengaluru,' said Madhusudhan G, chairman and managing director of Sumadhura Group. 'Soukya Road is fast becoming a preferred residential location, offering a rare mix of peaceful living, excellent infrastructure, and strong investment potential. Projects in such emerging corridors will not only deliver value to customers but also support long-term appreciation.'
The land deal highlights Sumadhura's focus on expanding its footprint in key high-growth areas. With multiple projects already delivered across Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the group is looking to further scale its presence across the micro-markets.
Soukya Road, located near Whitefield, is a rapidly emerging real estate destination. The locality offers convenient access to the Purple Line metro at Kadugodi and ITPL, as well as important arterial roads like NH-75 and SH-35.
Sumadhura has delivered more than 50 projects in its area of operation, spanning over 11 million square feet. Currently, it is in the planning and construction stages of up to 40 million square feet.

In April, the Group said that it acquired 40 acres in Bengaluru for approximately ₹800 crore, setting the stage for a revenue potential of up to ₹6000 crore residential project pipeline to cater to the demand for housing units in Bengaluru.
The four land parcels acquired recently are a combination of both solely owned and joint-development projects located in Bengaluru's high-growth corridors, including emerging areas in East and South-West Bengaluru, the company said.
In May, the company entered the managed office space (MOS) segment with the launch of Workship. The company aims to lease over 1 million square feet of flexible office space, offering more than 10,000 seats over the next three years.
Workship is located within Sumadhura's commercial property, Capitol Towers, in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Spanning 1.22 lakh square feet, it currently offers over 3,000 seats.

Similarly, the Telegraph reported, "Billionaire friend of Prince of Wales dies after 'swallowing a bee'." Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of auto components maker Sona Comstar. After taking over as managing director of the company after his father's death in 2015, Sunjay spearheaded its expansion into China, Mexico, Serbia and the U.S. As per Bloomberg, Sona Comstar has a market cap of ₹31000 crore (nearly $4 billion). According to Forbes, Sunjay Kapur had a net worth of $1.2 billion ( ₹10300 crore) at the time of his death. The London-based Indian business tycoon had been married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003-16. The two have two children. Sunjay was previously married to fashion designer and stylist and Nandita Mahtani from 1996-2000. Since 2017, he had been married to model-turned-actor Priya Sachdev, with whom he had a son.

By Liana Baker and Reto Gregori Sika AG Chief Executive Officer Thomas Hasler views the Indian market as being one of the biggest opportunities for the Swiss building products company over the next few years. 'They fixed their tax system and they are now working on infrastructure,' Hasler said in an interview this week in New York. 'They're working on, let's say, the foundation for the economic growth.' Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in for his third term last year, ensuring he will serve until at least 2029. He has made infrastructure a priority, from the building of oil tankers to rail projects and domestic gas production. That should benefit companies like Sika, which makes sealants, mortars and other building adhesives. The Baar-based company's shares closed at 209 Swiss francs on Friday, giving Sika a market value of about 33.5 billion francs ($41.3 billion). 'It's rail, it's road, ports, airports everything,' Hasler said, adding that the company needs to further invest in India since there's still four to five years before the next election. About 3 per cent to 4 per cent of Sika's revenue comes from India and that could grow to double digits over the next 10 years, he said. 'In India, market potential today is probably somewhere $3 to $4 billion,' He said. 'We may go up to $6 billion or $7 billion in 10 years.' To be sure, he said success isn't guaranteed in the world's second-most populous country and some of its megacities have 'pains.' 'This is not going to be in 10 years taking over Europe — this is long term. But India has a potential within 10 years to be much more significant,' he said. He added that Sika has a 'good footprint' in the country, which it doubled through its acquisition of MBCC Group. MBCC is Sika's largest acquisition to date, at about 5.5 billion francs. The deal for the former construction chemicals business of BASF SE, which it bought from private equity firm Lone Star Funds, closed in 2023. Sika fended off a takeover approach from rival Cie. de Saint Gobain SA several years ago, one of the most acrimonious takeover fights in Europe.
