Three Maoists including central committee member killed in encounter with police in Andhra's ASR
VISAKHAPATNAM: Three Maoists, including a senior Central Committee Member of the banned CPI (Maoist), were killed in an exchange of fire with the Greyhounds, near Akooru village in the Maredumilli forest area of Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Wednesday morning.
According to police sources, the encounter took place during a combing operation in the forest region near Rampachodavaram.
The deceased Maoists were identified as Gajarla Ravi alias Uday, a Central Committee Member of the CPI (Maoist) and Secretary of the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC); Aruna, a South Zonal Committee Member and wife of the late Central Committee Member Chalapathi, who was recently killed in Chhattisgarh; and another member.
According to initial reports, security forces recovered three AK-47 rifles from the encounter site. No injuries or casualties were reported among the police personnel.
Efforts are underway to retrieve the bodies from the location.

The outlawed CPI (Maoist) has lost another top-ranking leader from Telangana following the death of 57-year-old Gajerla Ravi alias Uday — a native of Velishala village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district — in an 'encounter' in Alluri Sitarama Raju district of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh early on Wednesday (June 18, 2025) morning. The incident comes less than a fortnight after the death of the CPI (Maoist) Telangana State committee member, Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar, of Pocherla village in Adilabad district, in an 'exchange of fire' in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on June 5, 2025. Ravi was one of the maoist leaders who participated in the peace talks with the then Congress government in united Andhra Pradesh in 2004, which eventually failed. His two brothers also worked in naxalite movement His two brothers – Gajerla Saraiah alias Azad and Gajerla Ashok alias Aithu also worked in the naxalite movement. Saraiah was one of the key maoist leaders from north Telangana. He was killed in an 'encounter' with the police in Eturunagaram forest area in the erstwhile Warangal district in 2008. Ashok, who was active in Chhattisgarh's south Bastar region, surrendered to the police in Warangal in 2015. As the news of Ravi's death spread in Velishala, grief engulfed his family members and relatives in his native village.

Relatives of surrendered Maoist leader among three killed in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur
Three residents of a village — two related to a senior Naxal cadre who surrendered this year and another related to a security personnel — were killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Tuesday evening, police said. Around 4 pm, a group of Maoists went to Nayapara in Pedakorma village, about 15 km away from Bijapur police headquarters and four kilometers away from a security camp, where they allegedly also assaulted several other villagers. Two of the victims were related to a senior Naxal cadre, Dinesh Mudiyam, 36, a former Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) Member from Gangaloor area who surrendered in March this year along with his wife. The third victim is related to an officer from the state police force. Police claimed that the leader of the accused in the case was once a subordinate of Mudiyam. Mudiyam, who is from Nayapara, has 26 murder cases against him and was also allegedly involved in attacks where seven security personnel were killed and three were injured. Police sources said the cases against Mudiyam 'could be withdrawn, depending on his cooperation and behaviour'. This year, at least 18 civilians whom Maoists alleged were police informers have been killed. Last year, 71 civilians were killed by Maoists, with 20-odd deaths caused by IED blasts. The number of Maoists killed this year so far in Chhattisgarh is 211, including 194 in Bastar region. Last year, 219 Maoists were killed in Chhattisgarh, including 217 in the Bastar region. Maoists have also killed 18 security personnel, including an Additional Superintendent of Police from Sukma district, Akash Rao Girepunje. Police say many Maoists from Gangaloor have surrendered in the last two years. The area has been a major recruitment ground for Maoists, with several of these allegedly being killed not only in Bastar but also neighbouring states such as Odisha, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.
