Honor Android Battery test
Our Honor Magic V5 review is coming up, and we've already completed several of our in-house tests, including the battery life and charging components.
The international version of the Magic V5 is equipped with a trendy Silicon-Carbon battery boasting a 5,820 mAh capacity (vs. 6,100 mAh on the Chinese model) and comes with 66W wired charging support. The phone did not disappoint when it comes to endurance, securing an Active Use Score of 11 hours and 52 minutes.

The result positions the Magic V5 ahead of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Huawei Mate X6 and in the same ballpark as the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. We also see a noticeable step up from last year's Magic V3.
We also ran the tests on the external display with the main one folded. The V5 scored similar Active Use scores to its predecessor, but with different proportions, including noticeable gains in the calls and gaming components.
Moving on to the charging test, Magic V5 showed some competent speeds and completed a full charge in exactly 53 minutes. The phone was sitting at 36% after 15 minutes on the charger and reached 67% at the half-hour mark.
These results place the Magic V5 in the right behind key competitors like the Oppo Find N5 and vivo X Fold3, which boast faster 80W and 120W charging support.

Sony may change the Xperia design for the first time in years. Here's why it might not matter.

Sony Xperia 10 VI | Image credit — PhoneArena Sony is famously conservative with its smartphone design, and its devices have been looking largely the same for years. That may be about to change as the company is likely to redesign its upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 10 VII. A listing by a case maker on the Japanese Amazon shows the Xperia 10 VII with a fresh new look. The changes aren't anything drastic, but Sony may rearrange the cameras on the back. So, instead of the vertical double camera, the Xperia 10 VII may feature a horizontal camera. While that might not sound radical, it could be a significant step for Sony, considering that the previous five generations of the Xperia 10 are barely distinguishable from each other. However, the original Xperia 10 was the last Sony device with horizontal cameras, so the change could be seen as Sony going back to the roots of the purists who are worried about the change can remain calm because the front of the device in the images appears unchanged. That shouldn't be a surprise, as most smartphones look the same from the front, save for the slimmer bezels. That's true for the iPhone 16, the Galaxy S25, and the Pixel 10 phones, the front sides of which look like their predecessors'. We know little else about the Sony Xperia 10 VII. The device is already late, as its predecessor was released in June last year. So far, we've only seen a database listing suggesting the premiere of the device will be in October.I am glad that Sony hasn't completely ditched its smartphones after it was forced to suspend the sales of the Xperia 1 VII. I don't know if such a minor redesign could help it overcome its issues, but I'll be excited for the company to return to at least some of its former glory. Good news everyone! Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra show a smaller notch

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra had a dual front-facing camera – as did the Tab S9 Ultra and Tab S10 Ultra. That's cool and all, but the wide notch they caused was not ideal. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will go halfway towards fixing the issue – it will only have a single camera on the front. Due to thin bezels, that camera will still live on a notch, but it will be less obtrusive as you can see in the images below. The notch, which will have a semicircular design, will eat a tiny fraction of the roomy 14.6' OLED display. Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra show the new smaller notch Samsung is said to be using a new panel for this one, but the resolution is the same at 2,960 x 1,848px. We could see a higher brightness or other improvements. Flipping over to the back, there are two cameras, a wide and ultra-wide. The new Ultra, which is set to be announced at IFA in early September, will be powered by the original Dimensity 9400, according to WinFuture. This contradicts the previous report that said 9400+ instead of 9400. The Plus chip boosts the Cortex-X925 core to 3.73GHz (up from 3.63GHz) and increases NPU performance by 20%, but that's about it – which is to say that it's not a huge deal which of the two rumors is correct. The current Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra with a trapezoidal dual-camera notch The tablet will have up to 16GB of RAM, likely starting at 12GB for the base model. Storage will be up to 1TB. It will run Android 16 – we're yet to see One UI 8 on a tablet, so we don't know what upgrades Samsung has in stores for its large screen devices. As previously reported, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will measure only 5.1mm thick while having a slightly larger 11,600mAh battery – for comparison, the Tab S10 Ultra is 5.4mm and has an 11,200mAh battery. Charging will remain the same at 45W, according to certifications. Source (in German)

Amazon is switching its Fire tablets to Android, report claims

Vlad, 20 August 2025 Amazon's long-running line of Fire-branded tablets is going to go through some significant changes, according to a new report. The company is allegedly planning to move away from its own Fire OS (which is a fork of Android) and actually use Android proper. The first Fire tablet to run Android will arrive next year, and will cost $400, which is a much higher price point than what we're used to seeing Fire tablets go for. The switch to Android has apparently been a multiyear project for Amazon, and it comes as a consequence of the retailer basically hearing too many complaints from its customers about Fire OS. Obviously, Amazon is hoping that its tablet sales would jump significantly following the switch to Android. There is still a catch here, however. Amazon will be using the open source Android, so there won't be any Google apps preinstalled. Source
