From crew neck knits to alcohol-free ‘tequila': what you loved most this month
When food and drink writer Joanne Gould set out to try more than 60 low- and no-alcohol drinks for us this month, we never could have expected that an alcohol-free tequila-style drink would be among her favourites – or that it would end up being one of your favourites too.

We also suspected that Valentine's Day might be dead, crushed into irrelevance by out-of-season rose bouquets and late-night-garage teddy bears. But your response to our non-traditional Valentine's gift ideas surprised us – and proved that romance is alive and well, even if in 2025 it looks like Uniqlo joggers and laser-engraved Spotify keyrings.
Romance or no romance, many of you have been bed-oriented this month, with pillows, mattresses and alarm clocks all making an appearance among your most loved items. Here are your February favourites.
Lumie Bodyclock Spark 100£76.99 at Amazon
While some of us have been lucky enough to see a few days of sunshine this month (sorry, Northern Ireland), these dark winter wake-ups are no joke, interfering with our body's natural circadian rhythms. Our group test of sunshine alarm clocks changed reviewer Pete Wise's life – as he wrote about in a recent Filter newsletter – and this medically certified model from Lumie came out top. 'I woke up feeling great,' he said. 'The device is supposed to realistically imitate the lightening shades of a sunrise – and it does so more convincingly than any other sunrise alarm clock I've tested.' Its more basic, non-certified sibling is £49 at Amazon, too.
Lamb's wool unisex crew neck jumper£34.90 at Uniqlo
Stylist and writer Peter Bevan proclaimed the crew neck jumper to be 'the crowning jewel of the knitwear world' in his guide to the best men's jumpers. And this affordable Uniqlo lamb's wool crew neck was your favourite of the bunch. It's unisex and available in nine colours – although, as Peter warned, 'the best shades tend to sell out every season' and some sizes are already out of stock.
Brightr Nox vegan down pillow£79.91 for two at Brightr
'This pillow was lauded by side and back sleepers alike, due to its adjustability and squishy, down-like comfort,' said science writer Linda Geddes in our roundup of the best down-free pillows. Its unusual padded outer case can be filled with different combinations of inserts and microfibre padding, making it fully customisable to your own sleep needs. It also performed very well in Linda's pillow fight test.
Etsy Spotify keyringFrom £9.49 at Etsy
The disappearance of mix tapes has been an unfortunate side-effect of the streaming age. But these cute personalised keyrings – featured in the Filter's Lily Smith's list of thoughtful Valentine's gift ideas – are laser engraved with a link to any Spotify playlist, song or album, so you can bring a physical element to your carefully curated mixes. All without the pain of the tape running out halfway through a song.
Bluebella Camelia wired bra£39 at Bluebella
'Do you know Bluebella? I feel like not enough women know about Bluebella,' said Jess Cartner-Morley in her February style essentials. This balconette Camelia bra looks much more expensive than it actually is, and 'looks great under clothes, which is something a surprising number of underwear brands don't think about'.
Kaws + Warhol joggers£12.90 at Uniqlo
These comfy joggers from Japanese high-street giant Uniqlo are from a collection inspired by contemporary artist Kaws and the work of pop artist Andy Warhol. 'They are super comfortable, perfect for evenings in together,' said Lily Smith in her Valentine's gift guide. Readers must have been as reassured as I was to know that 'you could absolutely get away with wearing them on emergency snack runs'.
Violette Fr Bisou Balm in Amour Fou£30 at Violette Fr
'The secret of French beauty is 'less makeup', yes,' said Sali Hughes in her column, 'but it's also the impression that the wearer doesn't much care about what little makeup is there. This isn't wholly uncontrived.' Violette Fr's 'perpetually sold out' Bisou Balm gives the look of 'bouche mordue' – lips that look 'just bitten' after using a fingertip to dab on bold lipstick over balm and blotting it with a tissue – in just one step. Pair with Laura Mercier's brown Fresco eyeshadow, another favourite from the column, for the full Gallic effect.
Otty Original Hybrid mattressFrom £499.99 (single) to £874.99 (emperor) at Otty
Jane Hoskyn's guide to the best mattresses had been months in the making, involving turning her living room into a trial lab, enlisting her nearest and dearest as guinea pigs and, yes, sleeping. But mattresses are a huge investment, and ones that will be with you for many years, so they're well worth the time we put in to testing them. Jane's overall favourite was this Otty mattress, which she slept on for two months before recommending: '[It's] a firm but cosy and supremely comfortable mattress that helped me sleep fantastically from the first night of testing,' she says.
Almave Blanco blue agave spirit <0.5%£24 at Amazon
This zero-proof agave drink was an 'unexpected hit' in Joanne Gould's humungous taste test of more than 60 low- and no-alcohol drinks – and it was an unexpected hit with you as well. Whether you're zebra striping or maintaining your good habits after Dry January, this Lewis Hamilton-founded non-alcoholic spirit will keep the margaritas flowing. 'It has an immediately distinctive agave aroma, smelling and tasting extremely convincing,' says Joanne. 'It's genuinely nice even for sipping straight, but when made into a spicy margarita or mixed with grapefruit in a paloma, it's fantastic.'
Anyday scarf coat£48 at John Lewis
Another surprise this month was to see this jacket back in the bestsellers list. Jess Cartner-Morley first wrote about this 'genuinely new style' of coat back in September, and readers have been loving it ever since – in fact, it was one of the bestselling Filter items of 2024. But with it now reduced to clear at John Lewis – and after an appearance in Lily Smith's winter wardrobe essentials – it's emerged as a reader favourite once again.
Kärcher Window Vac WV2£48.99 at Amazon
The beginnings of spring bring the first sun rays of the year through the window – and, for many of you, an obsession with keeping those windows sparkling clean. They're not magic – 'you can't wave one across your windows and watch the dirt leap in,' says Andy Shaw in his roundup of the best window vacuums – but they make it much easier to achieve a streak-free shine, and are particularly handy if your house is prone to condensation. This Kärcher model was Andy's favourite, wiping across glass surfaces cleanly, and making for a more versatile cleaning tool thanks to its ability to be used on horizontal surfaces.

The explosion in sex toys and sexual wellness products in recent years has been great for bringing these once niche, almost shameful products out of the shadows and into the mainstream. But less great for consumers who don't know their rabbit from their bullet – or indeed, where to start.
So we commissioned Alix Fox, a multi-award-winning sexual wellbeing and culture writer, broadcaster and educator with more than two decades of experience, to demystify them for us. She put an impressive 53 vibrators to the test and rated her best 16 for us (you've all been loving the Hera Flex Rabbit). Consider it public service journalism – as Fox writes: 'There is a significant correlation between intimate toy ownership and greater life satisfaction.'

How I achieve the perfect brows fast (with just this one product)
Whether it's the brand's signature hoola bronzer (£27.05, or porefessional primer (£18.99, many of Benefit's products have become much-loved beauty staples, but perhaps none more so than its brow heroes. From pencils that carve, define and polish, to waxes that sculpt and hold an arch in place, odds are you've had a Benefit eyebrow tool (or three) in your make-up bag at some point. Founded in 1976 by sisters Jean and Jane Ford (both were successful models and make-up artists at the time), Benefit Cosmetics has always been at the forefront of a pioneering, but playful, approach to beauty. Take, for example, its hoola bronzer – this was the first shimmer-free matte bronzer on the market when it launched 20 years ago, while the brand's 10-year-old roller lash curling mascara (£24.50, was inspired by hair rollers, capturing and curling every lash, for a dramatic flutter. Some of the brand's bestsellers can even be traced right back to the Seventies – see the rose-tinted lip and cheek stain, which was originally created for dancers as a nipple tint. But it's the beauty brand's brow roster for which Benefit is most loved and lauded. From the tinted and clear gel to the precisely brow pencil, the brand is the gold standard for creating salon-quality brows at home. When I first got into make-up as a young teenager, my mum took me straight to the Benefit counter, and I've been in a committed relationship with the brand's beauty products ever since – chiefly the precisely brow pencil. Helping you create the illusion of fuller brows, the precise tip lets you draw individual hairs while the brush tool buffs the formula, for extra volume. How I tested I've been using the precisely pencil for years. From application, the formula and staying power to the finished look, here's why Benefit's precisely brow pencil will always be a cult classic. Why you can trust us Daisy Lester is a senior IndyBest writer, she frequently writes about the beauty products worth buying. She has previously reviewed new launches and cult favourites, from Bobbi Brown's Jones Road gel eyeliner to Refy's new skincare range. She has, crucially, assessed Benefit's hero products before, to bring our readers the ones she thinks are worth buying. Sitting at the top of that list is the Benefit precisely my brow pencil, and this is her full, honest review.

I purchased a '£20 pouffe' from Dunelm and it's a been a game changer for my lounge
In an effort to make lounging about at home even more comfortable, I recently invested in a soft velvety pouffe from Dunelm. With selected colours now half price, this could be your sign to invest in one too. The Eliza Pouffe in Thistle has been reduced from £40 to £20 online. Made from soft velvet with neat piped edges, the plush accessory adds an 'elegant' touch to any seating area. I originally purchased the pouffe in a beige colour, paying full price for the privilege. An automatic upgrade to my living room, I immediately went back and got another one. Soft and plush, the Eliza pouffe is perfect for putting your feet up after a long day. Thanks to its lightweight design, it means I can move it around to find the perfect position when plonked in front of the telly. The velvet introduces a rich texture, making the space feel warm and cosy. While I did question the sanity of buying a light-coloured piece of furniture that people would put their feet on, the pouffe still looks as good as new. Filled with poly beads, it feels firm enough to stop tired legs from sinking while still feeling soft and comfy against the skin. I haven't seen the beads sink too much yet, but I assume that they can be refilled if they start to sag. Being able to pop my feet up has been a real game changer - it makes my seating area more comfortable without having to fork out for an expensive foot stool. While I love my pouffes, other alternatives are also available. Argos, for example, is selling the Habitat Fabric Storage Footstool in a choice of rich moss green colour for £50. Not quite as versatile as the Dunelm pouffe, this model has handy storage to keep smaller items out of sight. Elsewhere on Amazon, the Icon Milano Velvet Bean Bag Pouffe comes in six colours and is currently reduced with prices from £37.99. Shoppers have given it a 4.6 out of five-star rating, calling it "excellent quality" and "great value for money." The stylish Eliza Pouffe has earned glowing feedback on the Dunelm website, boasting an impressive average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars from over 120 reviews. One buyer said: 'Comfy. So comfy, great after a hard day's work. Don't know why I didn't get one ages ago.' Another called it " very comfortable and stylish,' while a third added: "Lovely and comfortable, just right for tired legs, and it looks great too. Would definitely recommend it." Not all Dunelm shoppers were quite so impressed, with some mentioning that the 'orange umber' shade appeared different in person than it did online. One reviewer wrote: "It's a good pouffe, quite comfortable. But it's not orange by any stretch—more of a brown or magenta tone. That was disappointing, as I was expecting a true orange." Overall most buyers were happy with their purchase, even those who paid full price. A five-star review summed it up saying: "A wonderful room accessory. I'm thrilled with my Eliza Pouffe. It's an elegant addition to my room and looks far more expensive than it was."

These £9 'cooling' pillows on Amazon provide 'instant relief' on summer nights
Get the 'cool side' of the pillow all summer long with these pillows that will help to beat the heat. Summer is fast approaching and our days are getting that bit warmer. That also means that the evenings are also about to get that bit hotter at the same time. While more sunshine is always a welcome thing, those who tend to to be hot sleepers may already struggle to get a good night's rest which is sure to get worse during this time of the year. For anyone looking to sleep soundly without overheating or sweating, there is the Silentnight Cooler Summer Pillows that reviews suggest provide "instant relief" from these balmy, summer evenings. Not just ideal for bringing down body temperatures, they are also affordable, as a pack of two on Amazon currently costs just £17.99, essentially working out at around £8.90 each. Designed to keep cool all night long, the filling has been made of "soft, lightweight" fibres that prevent heat and humidity from being trapped, instead allowing it to escape during sleep. The covers themselves can also help to provide a blissful rest, as they have been crafted from a soft-to-touch fabric that helps to keep body heat at a comfortable temperature by wicking away sweat. Offering a soft to medium firmness rating that is suitable for front and back sleepers, they are also hypoallergenic, making them ideal for anyone with allergies or hay fever at this time of year. Struggling with these warmer evenings? Then those who want to shop around for alternative purchases might also want to check out Dunelm's Fogarty Pack of 2 Cool Sleep Side Sleeper Pillows that feature a temperature regulating filling and covers for just £34. Slumberdown is another highly trusted brand among UK households, and it offers its own Stay Cool Medium Support Pillows that cost £17 for a pack of two when bought from Argos. One thoroughly impressed shopper said: "These pillows are the BEST BUY Yet, well, the Best buy I, have purchased! They are so soft! I am an Insomniac and have tried MANY Pillows over the years Including Expensive one's and none of them helped me sleep!. But these, are like sleeping on Marshmallows xx." A second shopper said of the pillows: "Lovely fluffy pillows that fell very luxurious and your face doesn't get too hot! What more could you want?" Homewares deal of the week It's time to give the home a spring refresh and Dunelm has launched its massive sale. Crafted with a solid wooden frame, these chairs can easily be paired with many different dining tables and decorated with comfy cushion. Designed with a modern curved backrest with a scallop feature, this chair would be a cute edition to any home. Currently available in apricot, blue and natural, there are chairs available for people who want to add a pop of colour to their home, as well as those who want to continue a minimalistic design. This durable seat is said to offer both style and comfort to its users, and is the ideal choice for family meals or entertaining guests. With dimensions of H 80cm x W 44cm x D 52cm, this chair will comfortably fit under a table without taking up too much space. Back to the Fifi Dining Chair, Dunelm shoppers have awarded the product a 4.5 star rating, with the vast majority of shoppers praising the chairs for their colour and how easy they are to assemble. One delighted shopper wrote: "I really love this chair! They are super comfy and they look great! They were very easy to assemble." With another shopper agreeing: "Lovely comfortable chairs! Waiting for them to come back into stock to order two more!" Buy the Fifi Dining Chairs in the Dunelm sale here. Someone else praising their purchase said: "Bought for partner who over heats at night. He had instant relief and a great nights sleep." Since they offer a lower firmness rating, they may not be suitable for those who need extra support. One shopper with this issue said in a lower review: "Very thin and light feeling. Well made but cheaply, lacks enough filling and firmness." Although, someone who found them to be just right added: "Best pillow's I've brought, bouncy but supportive. Slept so much better with these two pillows. No more stiff neck in the morning, head sinks into them and straight to sleep." Beat the summer heat by purchasing this pack of two Silentnight Cooler Summer Pillows for £17.99 on Amazon now.
