VERSES® 'Digital Brain' Featured in WIRED and Popular Mechanics

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VERSES AI Inc. (CBOE: VERS; OTCQB: VRSSF) ('VERSES' or the 'Company') a cognitive computing company specializing in next-generation agentic software systems today announced important third-party recognition of its digital-brain architecture, AXIOM, following features in WIRED and Popular Mechanics and public acknowledgement from ARC-AGI benchmark creator François Chollet.
WIRED: A 'very original' path to AGI
In WIRED 's feature ' A Deep Learning Alternative Can Help AI Agents Gameplay the Real World,' senior writer Will Knight describes AXIOM as 'a new machine-learning approach that draws inspiration from how the human brain models and learns about the world.' He adds that it 'offers an alternative to the artificial neural networks dominant in modern AI' and highlights its 'impressive efficiency' across multiple video-game environments.
François Chollet—Keras inventor, TIME 100 AI honoree, and creator of the ARC-AGI benchmark—told WIRED:
'The general goals of the [VERSES] approach and some of its key features track with what I see as the most important problems to focus on to get to AGI… The work strikes me as very original… We need more people trying out new ideas away from the beaten path of large language models.'
Chollet also posted on X.com acknowledging that active inference—as demonstrated by AXIOM, where agents act to reduce uncertainty by aligning their internal world models with reality—is 'badly missing from the deep-learning era' and '100% correct'
New Benchmarks For AGI - Gameworlds
Chollet's well known benchmark for AGI known as ARC-AGI—which measures progress toward general intelligence—tests AI systems on spatial-reasoning tasks and is used by OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and others as the industry's gold standard.
ARC-AGI 3, the next installment of this benchmark, is expected to deploy 100+ novel game worlds to test a new set of capabilities. We believe that this reflects the AI community's move from static Q&A to interactive environments, where games serve as the medium to force agents to explore, form hypotheses, and spontaneously generalize.
AXIOM's Active-Inference engine has already demonstrated these skills: it learns unfamiliar worlds, plans by minimizing uncertainty, and adapts in real time— using its cognitive architecture.
On the Gameworld 10K benchmark, AXIOM outperformed Google DeepMind's DreamerV3 by up to 60%, used 99% less compute, and learned 39× faster as validated by Soothsayer Analytics, in June.
Popular Mechanics: 'This breakthrough could redefine intelligence forever.'
Popular Mechanics also published a feature article titled ' This AI Model Can Mimic Human Thought—And May Even Be Capable of Reading Your Mind,' calling Genius—VERSES' product suite powered by AXIOM— 'a level up from existing AI' and noting that Genius agents run on watts instead of gigawatts and can operate from a laptop battery rather than the cloud. The article begins:
'AI is learning to think like us, bridging the worlds of biology and technology. This breakthrough could redefine intelligence forever.'
'AXIOM was built for interactive intelligence—exploring, planning, and learning in real time,' said VERSES CEO Gabriel René. 'Active Inference is designed to master new worlds faster, with far less compute and human-like adaptability—bringing us closer to truly human-level AI and, we believe, positioning VERSES as the market leader.'

Pro-XRP lawyer calls 70% shot at big win ahead for Ripple

Pro-XRP lawyer calls 70% shot at big win ahead for Ripple originally appeared on TheStreet. The years-long legal case surrounding the blockchain tech and payments firm Ripple took yet another turn as the crypto firm, along with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), filed a joint motion to the District Court for the Southern District of New York on June 12. The motion renewed the parties' request to Judge Analisa Torres to grant an indicative ruling. It asked the court to dissolve a prior injunction and release $125 million held in an escrow. Earlier, Judge Torres denied a similar motion on May 15, calling it "procedurally improper.' The crypto community will keep a close watch on how she reviews the latest motion. Pro-XRP lawyer John Deaton is, however, 70% confident that Judge Torres will grant the motion that could bring the long legal battle to a final end. The SEC should have acknowledged the "overly aggressive" stance against crypto on the part of its prior leadership, which an appellate court found 'arbitrary and capricious,' Deaton opined. In her last judgment, Judge Torres asked the parties to demonstrate "exceptional circumstances" for her to vacate the ruling. Deaton said the SEC should have included a reference to pending crypto legislation such as the GENIUS and CLARITY Acts as an "exceptional circumstance." Ripple, on its part, should have highlighted how an injunction puts it at a disadvantage against competitors such as Circle (NYSE: CRCL), Deaton added. The argument submitted, the lawyer claimed, could be summed up as: 'Look judge, elections have consequences, and this is one of them.' It was in December 2020 that the SEC sued Ripple for the sale of allegedly unregistered XRP securities worth $1.3 billion. In July 2023, Judge Torres ruled that while the sale of tokens to institutional investors violated securities laws, their sale to retail investors didn't. In the run-up to the 2024 presidential election, Ripple's chief legal officer, Stuart Alderoty, personally donated $300,000 in XRP to Trump's campaign in June 2024. Once Trump won the election, Ripple Labs donated $5 million in XRP to his inaugural committee. Thereafter, Ripple and the SEC reached a settlement on March 25, as per which the company will pay $50 million of the original $125 million penalty, with the remainder refunded from escrow. The regulator has dropped cases against other crypto giants such as Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) and Binance. As per Kraken, XRP was trading at $2.16 at press time. Boeing Engineers Turn Startup Arc Into Marine Powerhouse With New $168K Electric Boat That Outpaces Gas Competitors

Arc, a California-based startup founded in 2021 by former Boeing (NYSE:BA) engineers Mitch Lee and Ryan Cook, announced on May 15 its third all-electric boat model, the Arc Coast, priced at $168,000. The new 24-foot vessel follows the sold-out Arc One and the still-available Arc Sport, originally priced at $300,000 and $268,000, respectively, and offers a more affordable entry point for recreational boaters. According to Electrek, this new model is aimed at broader recreational markets, offering simplified design and reduced material costs while still delivering the power and performance of its predecessors. Don't Miss: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — Peter Thiel turned $1,700 into $5 billion—now accredited investors are eyeing this software company with similar breakout potential. Learn how you can Arc Coast features a high-voltage 226 kWh battery, the same system used in the Arc Sport, which, according to Electrek, gives the boat a top speed of 50 miles per hour and a cruising time of four to five hours on a single charge. Instead of the large outboard engines common in traditional boats, Arc says it uses a compact sterndrive system. The open deck accommodates up to 10 passengers, creating more room for fishing, relaxing, or swimming without the bulk and noise associated with combustion engines, Electrek reports. Arc said in a statement that the center console format has long been used for fishing and sandbar outings, offering flexible movement and social space. The Arc Coast was designed from scratch to deliver quiet electric performance, streamlined software, and a simplified ownership experience compared to traditional gas-powered boats. The design also enables Arc to simplify the layout and reduce material costs. Trending: Invest where it hurts — and help millions heal:. 'People love center consoles, but the experience hasn't improved,' Lee said in the statement. 'The Arc Coast is what you get when you start from scratch: all the benefits of quiet and powerful electric performance, powered by advanced software, and paired with an ownership experience free from many of the headaches common with today's gas boats.' According to the Environmental Protection Agency, diesel-powered boats contribute significantly to marine pollution through oil leaks, ground-level ozone, and toxic emissions that impact coastal ecosystems. Electric boats offer a cleaner alternative because they are quieter, require less maintenance, and can be charged with energy from renewable sources, Arc says. Even when factoring in the environmental cost of lithium-ion battery production, a 2016 report suggests that electric marine transport remains more sustainable than extracting and burning billions of tons of fossil fuels each year. Arc says it reused its existing battery system to reduce development time and expects to bring the Arc Coast to market in less than one year from prototype to the $168,000 price tag still places the Arc Coast in the premium category, the cost is significantly lower than previous Arc models. The new model fits into a broader trend of electrification in transportation, where marine sectors are now undergoing rapid shifts toward battery-powered mobility, according to a 2025 report from Grand View Research. Interested buyers can reserve the Arc Coast directly through the company's website, with deliveries expected to begin in 2026. Positive U.S. Regulatory Environment More Conducive for Crypto Corporate Activity: JPMorgan

Expectations of a more benign regulatory environment in the U.S. is leading to an increase in the number of crypto companies looking to go public and an uplift in venture capital (VC) funding, investment bank JPMorgan (JPM) said in a research report Wednesday. The GENIUS Act's progress in the Senate has become a "key factor in anticipating a clearer and more supportive regulatory environment," analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou wrote. "The anticipation of such a U.S. regulatory environment is conducive to crypto corporate activity such as IPOs and VC funding," the authors wrote. The Senate's Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act mandates federal regulation for stablecoins with a market cap of over $10 billion with the potential for state regulation if it aligns with federal rules. Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies whose value is tied to another asset, such as the U.S. dollar or gold. They play a major role in cryptocurrency markets and are also used to transfer money internationally. The bank noted that the number of crypto IPOs so far this year matches the pace of offerings seen in the bull market of 2021. Press reports suggest that more crypto companies, including Ripple, Kraken, Consenys and CoinDesk's owner Bullish are getting ready to IPO this year, the report said. Venture capital funding is also on the rise, and has exceeded levels seen in 2023/24, on an annualized basis, the bank said. IPOs give crypto investors a way to diversify their digital asset exposure beyond just bitcoin BTC and ether ETH, the two largest cryptocurrencies by market cap. It means they can take advantage of opportunities in areas such as blockchain infrastructure, payments and settlement, custody and tokenization, the report added.
