Kansas City Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo welcomes former Las Vegas Raiders HC to camp
"Well, I think you guys probably know this. Antonio (Pierce) and I have been close for a long time. I went in '07 when I went to New York with the Giants. He was the Mike linebacker. The present-day version of Antonio Pierce is Nick Bolton now," said Spagnuolo, "It's guys like that. And obviously, looking at Antonio and what he's like now, he became a coach. He went all the way to being a head coach. He obviously had that when he was a player. That's a nice thing to have when you're a defensive coordinator. Guy, that's cerebral. And I got a lot of respect for Antonio."
Pierce memorably coached the Raiders to a shocking Christmas Day victory over the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in 2023, earning him the head coach role permanently through the 2024 season.
"I'm glad he came through. The guys are loving having them," said Spagnuolo, "He's given him feedback from a player's standpoint, coaches' standpoint, head coaches' standpoint, and maybe we'll ask him about some Las Vegas Raiders stuff."
The Raiders fired Pierce after a 4-13 season in 2024.

In September 2024, the Steelers brought back Edmunds. However, after appearing in just five games in his return to Pittsburgh, the team cut him in November. Edmunds will look to get his career back on track in Las Vegas, where he will be competing for a depth role in the safety room behind the Raiders' starters at the position, Jeremy Chinn and Isaiah Pola-Mao. The Raiders added a veteran safety to the roster on Sunday. They announced the signing of Terrell Edmunds to their 90-man roster. He will take the roster spot of wide receiver Seth Williams, who has been waived with an injury designation. Edmunds was a 2018 first-round pick of the Steelers and he returned to Pittsburgh to play in six games last season. He played for the Eagles, Titans, and Jaguars after leaving the Steelers following the 2022 season. Edmunds has 465 tackles, 7.5 sacks, six interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 84 career regular season games. He also has 12 tackles in two postseason appearances.

Gruden has since gotten into the media space, working with Barstool Sports. But he's maintained that he is incredibly interested - and committed - to coaching again. The longtime coach has said that he would love for that to be in the SEC. Gruden told the Georgia Bulldogs that he would love to coach in the SEC if he returned to coaching. "The only reason I really came here is because I want to coach again," Gruden told the Georgia Bulldogs on a recent visit to Athens, Georgia. "I'm being honest with you. I do not bulls—t either. I'd die to coach in the SEC. I would love it. I would f—ing love it." Gruden admitted that he has "fantasized" about it. "I sit there and I fantasize — I'm fantasizing on the [practice] field," he added. "I said, 'Man, I wish I was coaching against the SEC.' I want to come to Georgia, between the hedges. I'm fantasizing about going up against Kirby Smart. I'm an offensive coach you see. I'm over there fantasizing about coming down here and beating Georgia in the hedges." "That's what I'm fantasizing about. Because whether you like it or not, you're the f—ing measuring stick that I base my whole career on as a coach," the ex-Bucs/Raiders HC concluded. If Gruden were to return, where would it be? Two schools have been named possible landing spots. Arkansas The Razorbacks are currently led by Sam Pittman, but things have been a struggle for the Razorbacks lately. The 63-year-old head coach has gone 30-31 in five seasons. If he doesn't perform well in 2025, he could be ousted. Arkansas, which has a lot of Walmart money, could prove to be an ideal landing spot for Gruden in 2025. Kentucky The Wildcats are probably committed to Mark Stoops, though he went 4-8 during the 2024 season. It's possible that Kentucky could decide to make a change. Or, perhaps, Stoops will simply choose to move on. Stoops has been at Kentucky for 12 years. He knows that it'll always be a basketball school first.
