Hindi friend of all Indian languages, can't be opposed to any foreign language: Amit Shah

Addressing the golden jubilee celebrations of the Central government's official language department, Shah also asked all the state governments to take the initiative to impart medical and engineering education in the local language.
The Centre will help all the state governments in using Indian languages to conduct administrative works, he said.
"I sincerely believe that Hindi can't be opposed ('virodhi') to any Indian language. Hindi is a friend ('sakhi') of all Indian languages," the home minister said.
Hindi and other Indian languages together can take the self-esteem of the country's culture to its final destination, Shah said.
The home minister also said that everyone should get rid of the slavery mentality and until a person takes pride in his own language, or does not express himself in his language, that person cannot be free from the mentality of slavery.
'There is no opposition to any language. There should not be any opposition to any foreign language. But there should be an urge to glorify one's own language, there should be an urge to speak one's own language, there should be an urge to think in one's own language," he said.
Shah also said that as far as the country is concerned, language is not just a medium of communication, it is the soul of a nation.
"It is important to keep Indian languages alive and enrich them. We should make all efforts in the coming days for all Indian languages, especially for the official language," Shah said.
Extending greetings to all the well wishes of the official language Hindi, the home minister congratulated the admirers of Indian languages across the country on the golden jubilee year of the department.
Shah said this was the 50-year journey from 1975 to 2025 of the official language department and when India will celebrate the centenary of its Independence, the name of the official language will be inscribed in golden letters in the history of all the efforts made for the reawakening of India's pride.

Samant accuses Sena UBT of double standards over Hindi language imposition in schools
Amid growing opposition to the inclusion of Hindi in Maharashtra's school curriculum under the three-language policy, Industries and Marathi Language Minister Uday Samant on Thursday claimed that it was the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government that first approved the move. Speaking at a press conference at Balasaheb Bhavan, Samant claimed the decision to make Marathi, English, and Hindi compulsory from Classes 1 to 12 was based on recommendations made by the Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar Committee—set up during the MVA's tenure. 'The cabinet led by Uddhav Thackeray approved the proposal on January 27, 2022. If they had objections, why didn't they raise them then?' Samant asked, accusing the Shiv Sena (UBT) of politicising the issue ahead of upcoming civic elections. 'There is no fresh decision being taken to impose Hindi. The current opposition is nothing but an attempt to mislead the public,' he said. Samant also referred to Sena (UBT) leader and former minister Aditya Thackeray's earlier public remarks supporting multilingual education. 'He had said more languages mean more opportunities and even cited Singapore's model. So why this sudden U-turn?' Samant said, accusing the Thackeray faction of displaying 'double standards.' To reinforce the state's linguistic and cultural heritage, Samant announced the creation of a ₹100-crore Marathi Language Centre in Mumbai, along with a sub-centre in Airoli. The state will also host a Global Marathi Conference and literary festivals.

UP Cong releases list of committees under Rahul's social justice formula
Sticking to the social justice call by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Uttar Pradesh Congress on Thursday released a list of its office-bearers from the newly constituted district and city committees made under the 'Sangathan Srijan' exercise—the first phase of which has been completed. A delegation of UP Congress led by state president Ajai Rai on June 26 met family members of astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian ever to enter the International Space Station. (Sourced) A total 38 committees were announced during the day out of the total 133 that will be announced by the month end. 'Out committees have at least 50% people from OBC, minority, Dalit communities apart from women representation. In several districts, this figure is over 70% depending on the size of the district and the committee,' said UP Congress Committee media cell chief CP Rai. 'The process of Sangathan Srijan focuses on all 403 assembly seats of the state and aims to strengthen organisation with inclusion of all communities and class,' said UP Congress chief Ajai Rai. During the review meetings, at least 90% of committees that were proposed before the state committee were rejected and office-bearers were asked to revise the list. The zonal review started on June 15 with the west zone, Braj zone on June 15, Bundelkhand zone on June 16, Purvanchal on June 17 and Prayag zone on June 18. Under the Awadh zone, lists have been declared for the district committees of Balrampur, Shravasti, Sitapur, Unnao and the city committee of Rae Bareilly. In the Braj zone, the district committee for Pilibhit and city committees for Aligarh, Bareilly have been declared. In the Bundelkhand zone, district committees for Etawah, Hamirpur, Kannauj, Kanpur, Lalitpur, Kanpur Dehat and Auraiya have been declared along with the city committee for Orai. Under Prayag zone, district units of Amethi, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Bhadohi, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj trans-Ganga, Prayagraj trans-Yamuna and Ghazipur have been declared along with city units of Mirzapur, Sultanpur and Mugalsarai. Under the Purvanchal zone, committees of Ayodhya, Ballia and Basti have been declared and in the west zone, committees of Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Moradabad, Rampur and Shamli have been declared.
