Shukla is now preparing to undock from the ISS with the Axiom-4 (Ax-4) crew after an 18-day stay in space. The Dragon spacecraft is scheduled to leave the ISS at approximately 4.35pm IST on Monday, with splashdown expected off the California coast at 3.01pm IST on Tuesday. The return journey is fully automated and will last about 22.5 hours.
At a farewell ceremony on Sunday, emotions ran high as the Ax-4 crew said their goodbyes.

Shukla, moved by the experience, thanked the Expedition 73 crew for making his journey special. 'I didn't imagine all of this when I started on the Falcon-9 on June 25. It was an incredible joy to be here and work alongside professionals like you,' he said.

Houston [US], July 14 (ANI): The Axiom-4 has successfully undocked and is making its way back to Earth, as observed by Axiom Space and NASA on Monday. In an informative blog about the mission updates, NASA informed that the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft undocked at 7:15 a.m. EDT from the space-facing port of the International Space Station's Harmony module, completing the fourth private astronaut mission to the orbiting laboratory, Axiom Mission 4. It further noted that the Dragon is slowly manoeuvring away from the station into an orbital track that will return the crew and its cargo safely to Earth, targeting a splashdown off the coast of California on Tuesday, July 15. Axiom Space in its live session on X noted that the Axiom-4 mission saw over 60 scientific studies and more than 20 outreach events. Spacex also made the confirmation in a post on X. In a post on X it noted that the spacecraft would now execute a series of departure burns to move away from the International Space Station. It noted that Dragon would re-enter the Earth's atmosphere and splash down in approximately 22.5 hours off the coast of California. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian astronaut to visit the ISS, who is also part of the crew for the mission, will be piloting the spacecraft. The departure operations have begun for the crew with the hatch closing, and the crew have all entered the spaceship. Ahead of the departure, during a farewell ceremony, ISS Commander Takuya Onishi expressed gratitude and admiration for the crew's contributions, reflecting on the collaborative spirit aboard the ISS. Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 14 (ANI): Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla's father, Shambhu Dayal Shukla on Monday expressed his excitement and pride as his son prepared to return to Earth after a historic 18-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The family offered prayers at a temple and at home, seeking a safe return for Shubhanshu and his crew. Speaking with ANI, Shukla's father said, 'We are very happy and excited and are ready to welcome him. The undocking will take place at around 4:30 PM. We are very proud of our son. It is a matter of great fortune for us that his mission is complete... We never thought that our son would reach such heights... This is a matter of pride for our country and the people of the country. I thank everyone who prayed for our son...' Asha Shukla, his mother, shared her joy and relief. 'It feels good; we are all very happy. We prayed that they all come back safely. We are very excited to meet our son after 18-20 days... We are very proud of our son,' she said. Earlier, Shukla's sister Shuchi Mishra said, 'Today again we are feeling the same emotions that we had on the day he went for the mission. We will celebrate a lot when he comes back.' 'Every day, we prayed and thanked God. When we talked to him, he seemed very happy...
