Centre trying to destroy welfare board: State construction workers
He was speaking at the second district-level conference of the State Construction Worker Welfare Federation held in the city.
He said that the state govt constituted the construction welfare board as per the Construction Workers Welfare Act 1996. The state govt has been providing 19 different types of benefits to construction workers after constituting this board, including scholarships for children, healthcare, bus passes, and several other facilities.
As the state govt stopped releasing funds for the promotion of education for construction workers' children, the federation questioned this in court by filing a petition, which delivered its verdict in favour of construction workers, he said.
The federation plans to conduct a fifth state-level conference of construction workers on Aug 24 and 25 at Koppal. SSLC and PUC toppers among children of construction workers were felicitated on the occasion.
Federation general secretary HS Sunanda, CB Naveenkumar, district unit president Basavaiah, and others were present.

Union edu min visits IIT-Delhi, interacts with students

'After meeting these students, I can confidently say that by 2047, India will be a developed nation, in line with the dreams of the Prime Minister. I can see a golden future being created on the shoulders of our youth in the coming 20–25 years,' Pradhan said. Speaking on the occasion, Vineet Joshi, secretary, department of higher education, reiterated the Prime Minister's Independence Day message on the role of youth in making the country self-reliant. He added that the department is extending full support to higher education institutions in advancing innovation, strengthening research capacities and addressing national challenges.

Amit Shah to issue special postal stamp to commemorate Vithalbhai Patel
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to release a special postal stamp at the upcoming All India Speakers' Conference to commemorate the centenary of freedom fighter Vithalbhai Patel, assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said on Sunday. Patel was also the first elected Indian speaker of the central legislative assembly in 1925. 'Honouring our parliamentary pioneers is not just about remembering history, but also about drawing inspiration for the future. In this spirit, this stamp is being released as a centenary tribute to Vithalbhai Patel. Issued by the Ministry of Communications in collaboration with India Post, this special stamp will honour the distinguished parliamentary legacy and monumental contributions of Vithalbhai Patel,' Gupta said. The theme of the speakers' conference will be 'Virasat se Vikas ki Ore' (From heritage to development) and Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M Scindia will also join the event. Speaker Gupta said that earlier, on September 27, 1973, a commemorative postal stamp had been released on Patel's birth centenary. 'The release of this stamp will form an integral part of the All India Speakers' Conference 2025, which will bring together speakers, deputy speakers, chairpersons and deputy chairpersons from legislative assemblies and councils across the country. The conference will deliberate on important issues such as constitutional foundations, the growth of democratic institutions, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in parliamentary functioning,' Gupta said.
