I might've moved to Mumbai, but Bangla has my heart, always: Tuhina Das
Tuhina Das
, has been steadily making her mark in the Hindi industry as well. The
Ghawre Bairey Aaj
actress shifted base to Mumbai a couple of years ago.
In this freewheeling chat, the actor opens up about her latest project, working across industries, and the thrill of experimenting with new genres.
Can you tell us more about your new project? What drew you to this role and story?
I was in conversation for a while over multiple roles. And when
Chhal Kapat – The Deception
came along, we felt this was the right one for me. It was different, and given my weakness for murder mysteries in personal life as well, I decided to take the plunge.
How has your experience been working in Mumbai compared to the Bengali film industry?
There isn't as much of a difference as you might think.
It's been two years here now, and this was my third project in Hindi. The most striking dissimilarity is the pace at which the city operates. Things are well-planned, and great care is taken during post-production. That pace was something I had to get used to.
Are you planning to continue working in Bengali films alongside your projects in Mumbai?
Yes, of course! I have shifted my base here, but Bangla has my heart, so I'm just as open to working in Bengali films as I always was.
What are some challenges you've faced while transitioning between different film industries?
Primarily the language — but that was addressed through extensive workshops.
Also, the way actors prepare for roles here is different. It's more intense and structured, which has been a learning curve for me.
Can fans expect to see you experimenting with new genres or roles in the near future?
Yes! A role very close to my heart is about to be released, and it's something very different—I actually did my own stunts in it.
What's your biggest takeaway or learning from working on your latest project?
That you can't really trust anyone
(laughs)
. I meant that in terms of the story! But work-wise, it was a great team, and we had a lot of fun while making it.

Shah Rukh Khan Gets Emotional, Invites Aryan Khan On Stage For The First Time: 'Mera Beta Apna...'
Shah Rukh Khan got emotional as he introduced son Aryan Khan on stage for the first time, urging fans to shower him with 150% of the love he has received. Shah Rukh Khan is on cloud nine, not because he is coming up with a film but because it's the directorial debut of his son Aryan Khan. Today, for the very first time, he introduced his son on stage to address the press and talk about his show The Ba***ds of Bollywood. Shah Rukh Khan got emotional and requested everyone to give his son 150% of the love they have given him over the years. While calling him on stage to talk to the media, Shah Rukh Khan said, 'Main bohot shukraguzaar hoon Mumbai ki is pavitra dharti ka, is desh ki pavitra dharti ka, jisne mujhe mauka diya ki main aap logon ko 30 saal tak entertain karne ki koshish kar sakun. Aaj bohot khaas din hai, kyunki isi pavitra dharti par mera beta bhi apna pehla kadam rakh raha hai. Bohot accha ladka hai. (I am deeply grateful to the sacred land of Mumbai, to the sacred land of this country, which gave me the opportunity to try and entertain you all for 30 years. Today is a very special day because on this very land, my son is taking his first step. He's a very good boy.)" View this post on Instagram A post shared by Viral Bhayani (@viralbhayani) The actor further continued and added, 'Toh aaj jab woh aapke saamne aayega, aur agar aapko uska kaam accha lage, toh uske liye taaliyan bajaiyega. Aur un taaliyon mein thodi si dua bhi rakhna, thodi si prarthna bhi rakhna. Aur jaise ki maine aapse pichli baar kaha tha, jo pyaar aap logon ne mujhe diya hai, uska 150% aap use dena. (So today, when he comes before you, and if you like his work, please applaud for him. And in those applauses, keep a little blessing, a little prayer too. And as I had told you earlier, the love you have given me, give him 150% of that.)" About Ba***ds of Bollywood Aryan Khan, who chose to step into direction instead of acting, unlike his superstar father and sister Suhana Khan, has been working on the project for over a year. He serves as the creator and director and is working alongside co-creators and writers Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the show reportedly dives into the eccentric world of aspirants, hustlers, and dreamers who navigate the chaos of the Hindi film industry. It stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor. Coolie Box Office Collection Day 7: Rajinikanth movie nears ₹220 crore at end of week 1; mints THIS much on Wednesday
Coolie Box Office Collection Day 7: Rajinikanth's Coolie witnessed a fading buzz over the long Independence Day weekend, and by the end of Day 7, it could only reach close to the ₹ 220 crore mark. The Rajinikanth movie, released on August 14 to mark the superstar's 50th year in the industry, enjoyed a record-breaking opening at the Indian box office but has since experienced a slowdown. Coolie's earnings dropped massively by 65.96% on Monday and another 20.83% on Tuesday. The numbers for Wednesday, Day 7, are not as great either. According to early estimates of industry tracker Sacnilk, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, earned just ₹ 2.71 crore on Wednesday until 5:00 PM. On Tuesday, the movie saw its first single-digit collection since its release, ₹ 9.5 crore, of which ₹ 5.65 from its Tamil variant. With this, Coolie's 7-day total stands at ₹ 218.71 crore. The total earnings will be revised later in the evening, once the figures for the evening and night show are declared. The movie has been released in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, boosting a pan-India appeal. Coolie had an overall 17.43% Tamil occupancy on Wednesday: Coolie had an overall 8.87% Hindi occupancy on Wednesday: Coolie, the biggest Indian opener of 2025 at the worldwide box office, earned a gross of ₹ 418 crore globally on Day 6. Of this, the movie minted ₹ 162.2 crore overseas, while its India gross was ₹ 255.8 crore. According to the moviemakers, Coolie raked in ₹ 404 crore gross in 4 days, and touted it to be the highest worldwide gross collection in the Tamil film industry. However, Sacnilk numbers showed that the movie only crossed the milestone on Day 5. Sacnilk said Coolie became the first Tamil movie to cross the Rs150 crore worldwide mark on its opening day, cementing its place in cinematic history. Coolie's Day 7 global earnings will be published tomorrow, Thursday. Rajinikanth's Coolie stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy. Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde also appear in a cameo.
