JNVST 2025: Registration for Navodaya Class 6 admission test ends on July 29
A candidate seeking admission to JNVs must not have been born before May 1, 2014 and after July 31 (both dates inclusive).
They must also fulfil other eligibility conditions given on the prospectus.
Question paper of JNVST 2025 will have 3 sections with 80 objective-type questions for 100 marks.

At present there are 654 JNVs in 27 states and 8 Union Territories (UTs).
The entrance exam will be held in two phases. The first phase is scheduled for Saturday, December 13.
The first phase will take place in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh (except Dibang Valley & Tawang Districts), Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh (except Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Sirmour, Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Solan and Shimla Districts), Jammu & Kashmir (only for Jammu-I, Jammu-II, Samba & Udhampur) Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand & West Bengal (except Darjeeling), Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
The second phase will be held on Saturday, Aprill 11 in Jammu and Kashmir (except Jammu-I, Jammu-II, Samba & Udhampur), Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and in the Districts of Dibang Valley and Tawang of Arunachal Pradesh, in the Districts of Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Sirmour, Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Solan and Shimla of Himachal Pradesh, in the District of Darjeeling of West Bengal, and Leh & Kargil districts of UT Ladakh.

The following documents in soft form (JPG format of size between 10 to 100 kb) will be required:
• Photograph
• Signature of parent
• Signature of candidate
• Aadhaar details/ Residence certificate issued by the competent Government authority.
Basic details of candidate like state, district, block, Aadhaar number, APAAR ID, PEN number etc.

Nomadic tribal people at Sakkimangalam demand renovation of houses before onset of monsoon
Members of the Narikuravar community – a nomadic tribe included in Scheduled Tribes (ST) – sought renovation of their houses before the onset of monsoon season. Submitting a petition at the Collectorate during the weekly grievance meeting here on Monday, R. Gandhi, one of the residents, said that about 200 houses built in 1991 under the Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) scheme had become dilapidated due to improper maintenance. Though the people themselves carried out minor repairs, they have been unable to do major renovation works owing to their economic condition. He said that they had been struggling to reconstruct the houses as the roofs and walls have started crumbling since 2015 itself. As a remedy to the damaged houses, the local body since 2016 has been asking them to stay in the community halls during the monsoon season to avoid any fatal incidents. M. Jaiganesh, a ward member, said that due to their repeated requests, the local administration staff members visited the locality and surveyed the condition of the houses. 'Earmarking 71 houses for reconstruction, they got ration card, community certificate, patta and Aadhaar cards from the residences,' he added. The survey promised that they would be provided houses but again monsoon arrived, and their houses continue to be in a precarious condition, he noted. Even last week, part of the roof of a resident named Pandidurai collapsed. 'As the family were out in a hospital to treat a five-year-old child, all of them escaped,' said Mr. Jaiganesh. If the houses were not renovated or reconstructed at the earliest, they would have to live in continuous fear, he said.

Over 60% kids up to 5 years have no Aadhaar in Odisha
BHUBANESWAR: Rigorous Aadhaar enrolment exercises notwithstanding, more than 60 per cent (pc) children up to the age of five years and nine pc in the 5-18 years age band in Odisha do not have a unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). On the other hand, Aadhaar enrolment has achieved 111.5 pc among the population aged above 18 years, while the overall registration stood at 102.02 pc. This ambiguity in data related to the status of Aadhaar enrolment and authentication came to the fore during a recent high-level meeting chaired by chief secretary Manoj Ahuja. As per data presented by the deputy director general of UIDAI of regional office at Hyderabad, Aadhaar has been generated for 12,73,211 children of the projected population of 32,48,632, aged 0-5 years and 92,62,207 of 1,01,84,021 people, aged 5-18 years. However, Aadhaar generation has been completed for 4.78 crore people out of the state's projected population of 4.68 crore till May 31. The enrolment exceeded the age band of 18 years plus as Aadhaar has been generated for 3.72 crore against 3.34 crore people. 'This could be due to non-exclusion of data of people who have died. The UIDAI will initiate a verification exercise in the state starting from this month to check the status and weed out unclaimed data,' said an official who attended the meeting. As per the district-wise Aadhaar saturation map for the 0-5 years age group, the enrolment for this age group is below 50 pc in 22 districts.
