17 MPs including chairman of JPC on 'One Nation One Poll' to receive Sansad Ratna Awards 2025
NEW DELHI: PP Chaudhary, Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha and Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on 'One Nation, One Election,' is among 17 MPs selected for the Sansad Ratna Awards 2025. Among the awardees, two Parliamentary Standing Committees have also been recognised.
The Sansad Ratna Awards, instituted by the Prime Point Foundation (PPF), is given to honour MPs for their contributions to Parliament after they are chosen by a Jury Committee on the basis of their performances. This year's jury was chaired by Hansraj Ahir, Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
According to sources at PPF, Bhartruhari Mahtab, Supriya Sule (NCP-SP), N K Premachandran (RSP), and Shrirang Appa Barne will receive the awards for their "Outstanding and Consistent Contribution to Parliamentary Democracy" as top performers during the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha, continuing their commitment in the current tenure.
PP Chaudhary, who leads the JPC on One Nation, One Election, has been selected for the award for the third time. He represents Rajasthan.

Hyderabad: The BJP MLAs on Sunday alleged that the TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud was the covert of BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao in the Congress party and he was conspiring against the party's MP Eatala Rajender. According to a press release issued by BJP MLAs Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, Rama Rao Pawar, Paidi Rakesh Reddy and Palvai Harish Babu, TPCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud was conspiring with tricks to damage the unwavering image of MP Eatala Rajender as the leader of the Telangana movement. TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud has made baseless allegations that BJP MP Rajender met BRS MLA Harish Rao at a farmhouse in Shamirpet and spoke to former CM KCR on the phone from there regarding his appearance before the Kaleshwaram project inquiry commission, they said. The BJP MLAs said that the TPCC chief had concocted these stories as part of a conspiracy to tarnish the image of MP Rajender as well as the prestige of the BJP. 'The evidence related to the meeting between the two of them at the farmhouse in Shamirpet should be released within 24 hours. Otherwise, we challenge him to accept that it is all a fabrication, admit his mistake and apologise,' said the BJP leaders. The BJP leaders said that Eatala Rajender, who belongs to the BC community, had worked for the welfare of the people as a progressive, Telangana movement leader and minister and had earned the respect of all sections. Eatela is also one of the BC leaders who has earned the respect of all sections in contemporary Telangana politics. He has proven himself to be a capable leader with his capability, credibility and character. Congress leaders were unable to digest the absence of a leader with such an image in their party. Unable to bear the sight of Eatala's image, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud was plotting to tarnish his reputation, they claimed. The BJP leaders alleged that Mahesh Kumar Goud from Nizamabad indirectly supported the then BRS candidate Kavitha in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. It was reported that Madhu Yashki Goud, who lost as a Congress candidate there, had also complained to their party high command about Mahesh Kumar Goud. Because of that friendship with Kavitha, Mahesh Goud was lobbying their party high command to bring her into the Congress and give her a ministerial post.

BJP gears up for civic elections in Kerala
The Kerala unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for the local body elections scheduled for November, having completed a detailed survey of all 941 village panchayats, 87 municipalities and14 district panchayats, people familiar with the matter said. The local body elections will be followed by the assembly elections in the southern state next year. Having set a target of winning at least 250 local bodies, the BJP has revamped its Kerala unit by appointing 16 senior leaders as in-charges of the organisational districts and 1,400 leaders as panchayat and municipal cluster in-charges. 'Preparations for the local body polls are in full swing. After the new state president (Rajeev Chandrashekhar) was appointed in March, the party carried out a detailed study of the gram panchayats, all the 152 block panchayats, six corporations and the district panchayats. This has helped us assess the ground situation and set our targets and work out how many representatives will be contesting the local body polls,' a person aware of the details said. In the previous polls, the BJP had won 22 gram panchayats, two corporations and two municipalities in 2020, when the elections to the 1,199 local bodies were held in three phases. The party, however, drew a blank in the 140-member assembly polls a year later. The person cited above said the state unit will soon begin an electoral training camp for karyakartas (workers) across one lakh (100,000) wards in Kerala through 'Nisha Shilpashala' camps that will be held at 1,400 locations over two weeks. 'Once the training is complete, the workers will begin the task of preparing the booth-level voters lists,' the person said. With an eye on expanding its footprint in the southern state — where it had managed to win one Lok Sabha seat (out of 20) in the previous general elections last year — the BJP has carried out a membership drive and ensured there is representation of different castes and faiths. 'As soon as the new state president's term began, we started work on strengthening booth committees. These committees were formed in just 2,100 of over 25,000 booths, with fewer than 20,000 booth karyakartas (workers). A special campaign was launched in the first week of May to raise this number to over 8,500 booth committees and nearly 90,000 karyakartas,' the person cited above said. In April, the party launched the 'Vikasita Keralam (developed Kerala)' campaign to highlight the 'administrative lapses' of the chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan led-LDF government, alleging it led to 'economic slowdown' in the state. 'As part of the Vikasita Keralam collective effort, ward-level teams were formed at the panchayat and municipal levels. Each team had five members, including at least one woman and one from the SC community. As a result, one lakh (100,000) karyakartas—forming the Vikasita Keralam ward teams are ready to hit the ground,' the person said. Booth workers have been identified in all 30 districts in the southern state and 630 office bearers have already been appointed. 'The party has been careful to include representatives from across castes and given space to women as well. Of the 630 office bearers, about 200 are women, 225 from backward communities, 75 from SC/ST communities, 30 are Christians, and over 70% are youth,' the person said. The party has planned to target the Vijayan government over its alleged failure to attract investments leading to high unemployment and inflation among the states. According to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) data for 2023-24, Kerala has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in India, at 29.9% for the 15-29 age group.

Co-op recruitment scam:ACB seeks guv's nod toprosecute ex-min Anjana
1 2 Jaipur: The state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has sought governor Haribhau Badge's permission to prosecute Congress politician and former minister of cooperation Udailal Anjana in connection with alleged irregularities in the recruitment of managers for Gram Seva Cooperative Societies (GSS). The case centres on the appointment of over 1,100 individuals who, officials say, were hired in violation of prescribed norms during the 2022–23 recruitment process when Congress was in power. Many of those selected were reportedly unqualified. Sources said ACB has already received approval to investigate some officers from the cooperation department under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Anjana, a senior Congress functionary and former Lok Sabha MP, has been a prominent figure in state politics since the late 1980s. A three-time MLA from Nimbahera assembly seat, Anjana was also elected to Lok Sabha from the Chittorgarh seat after defeating former Union defence minister Jaswant Singh in the 1998 parliamentary elections. The case adds to Congress' recent troubles, following the former minister Mahesh Joshi's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in April last year for his alleged involvement in the Rs 900-crore Jal Jeevan Mission scam. An ACB officer said on condition of anonymity that the previous govt decided to regularise appointments made before 2017. For recruitments made after that, the Cooperative Recruitment Board was tasked with the process. But according to officials, key checks were ignored. The cooperative dept later raised concerns about the process and requested detailed data of eligible candidates, leading to further scrutiny of appointments. After allegations emerged linking him to the recruitment scam, Anjana told TOI Sunday he had nothing to hide and was ready to face any inquiry. Accusing BJP govt of targeting him Anjana said the govt should first investigate its own cooperative minister — Gautam Kumar Dak — before probing others. "He (Dak) has been accused of shielding individuals involved in corruption worth crores by using his political influence," Anjana said. He also pointed to alleged irregularities in the distribution of tractors through the Rajkishan Custom Hiring Centre. The ACB has been investigating suspected irregularities in recruitment within the cooperative department for several months. In Feb 2025, the agency launched a probe into a suspected scam involving the unlawful regularisation of nearly 100 contractual employees in cooperative banks in rural parts of Jalore district. ACB teams reportedly seized documents indicating irregularities in the screening process conducted between 2021 and 2023.
