Indian Pacer Faces Legal Trouble After Buying 'Dream' Car, Handed Notice Over...

Indian pacer Akash Deep is in legal trouble for driving his new Toyota Fortuner without a High Security Registration Plate. The dealership's licence was suspended.
Just days after proudly announcing the purchase of his 'dream" car, Indian pacer Akash Deep is reportedly facing legal trouble over it. The 28-year-old, who recently delivered an impressive performance in the India-England Test series, took to social media to share his joy at buying a black Toyota Fortuner upon returning home.
However, according to a report, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has issued him a notice for driving the vehicle without a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP).
In his Instagram post celebrating the purchase, the pacer had wrote: 'Dream delivered. Keys received. With the ones who matter most," alongside photos with his family and the new vehicle.
What Is A High Security Registration Plate?
HSRPs are specially designed number plates mandated by the Government of India to enhance security and curb vehicle theft and counterfeiting. They feature unique elements such as laser-etched codes, a chromium-based hologram, and tamper-proof, non-removable screws. These plates are more durable than standard ones and make duplication nearly impossible.
The India Today report states that Akash Deep's SUV was spotted without the mandatory HSRP, prompting authorities to issue a notice. The trouble doesn't end with the player — M/s Sunny Motors, the Lucknow-based dealership that sold him the car, has also been penalised. Officials allege the dealer failed to complete the mandatory registration process and deliver the vehicle with an HSRP installed. Consequently, the dealership's licence has been suspended for one month, and it has been given 14 days to submit a formal explanation.
The Toyota Fortuner's top model, which Akash Deep purchased, is reportedly priced at over ₹62 lakh.
This setback comes on the heels of Akash Deep's standout performances in the five-match Test series against England, which ended 2-2. Featuring in three Tests, he claimed 13 wickets, with his career-best performance coming in the second Test at Edgbaston — taking 10 wickets to script a memorable win for India.

Supreme Court Bars Authorities From Taking Coercive Action Against 10, 15-Year-Old Vehicles in Delhi

With this interim order, the Supreme Court effectively stalled an October 2018 ban imposed by the top court on plying vehicles which had crossed the age limits. New Delhi: In a move that came as a relief to many, the Supreme Court on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) passed an interim order, barring police and other authorities from taking any coercive action against owners plying petrol vehicles aged over 15 years and diesel ones more than 10 years old in the Delhi National Capital Region. With this interim order, the Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai, effectively stalled an October 2018 ban imposed by the top court on plying vehicles which had crossed the age limits, reported The Hindu. During the hearing, solicitor general Tushar Mehta and additional solicitor general Aishwarya Bhati, who were appearing for Delhi government, submitted that the ban operated for private owners while the same vehicle could be used for commercial purposes beyond the 10-year threshold. Mehta requested the court for a stay on the 2018 ban order to prevent the police from seizing them. 'Over the course of the last seven years, the ban on plying these vehicles, though undoubtedly salutary in aim, was observed to have caused numerous practical hardships to the citizens of Delhi. Today, in light of the advancements in technology and enforcement, these hardships faced by commuters prima facie outweigh the prudence of the ban,' ASG Bhati submitted. Advocate Charu Mathur appeared for a senior citizen who would be forced to sell his car at scrap value, and would never be able to buy another. 'The road-worthiness of a vehicle is a technical and scientific issue that must be linked to actual emissions as tested and recorded by mechanisms as set out under the Motor Vehicles Act, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, etc., as opposed to a blanket ban on the basis of age which is unlinked to actual emissions. A balanced policy would ensure not only the protection of the environment through the phasing out of polluting vehicles, but would also preserve the rights of the responsible vehicle owners,' ASG Bhati submitted. After hearing the arguments, the bench of CJI Gavai and Justices K. Vinod Chandran and N.V. Anjaria passed the interim direction that no coercive action will be taken against owners of 10-year-old diesel and 15-year-old petrol vehicles in Delhi NCR, reported LiveLaw. Classic Legends to rev up exports, accelerate domestic network expansion

Premium motorcycle manufacturer Classic Legends, the owner of iconic brands like Yezdi , Jawa and BSA , is aiming for growth in India as well as in the international market. Owned by the Mahindra Group, Classic Legends is adopting a two-pronged growth strategy for this. The company is planning to expand its domestic sales network to reach more customers across India. On the other hand, it is aiming to rev up exports to a wide range of international markets. Classic Legends aims to increase its dealership network in India to around 500 soon, while it also targets to ramp up export efforts to some key markets around the world. Classic Legends has just launched the 2025 Yezdi Roadster in India, which is priced between ₹2.09 lakh and ₹2.26 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has revealed its plans regarding its growth strategy during the launch. Classic Legends is slated to rev up its international business with exports scheduled to commence this year to markets like the UK, Europe, Australia, Japan and Latin America. In an interaction with PTI, Classic Legends' Chief Business Officer, Shard Agarwal, said that the company aims to double its overall sales this year to around 80,000 units from about 40,000 units clocked last year. This will include both domestic and international sales. Speaking on the international business plan, Classic Legends' MD and Co-Founder Anupam Thareja said, 'We are building a global distribution (network). We have launched BSA Bantam in the UK. We are sold out there now for the season." Elaborating, he also said, "We signed up Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Austria. We are signing up for Australia. We have already signed up New Zealand." He noted that the BSA brand will target the developed markets such as Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the whole of Europe, the UK and the US. Classic Legends targets more Indian buyers In the domestic market, Classic Legends is selling both Yezdi and Jawa motorcycles, along with a small quantity of the BSA models. The company aims to ramp up the sales numbers in the domestic market, and a key part of that growth strategy is the expansion of its dealership network. Currently, it has more than 350 dealers across India, and the number will be up by around 100 more around the festive season. "We aim to close this year with over 500 dealers, and that will technically cover 80 per cent of the volumes in the sector," said Agarwal. He also added that the company will have sales and service network in the top 40 markets, the next 150 cities and key tier-III cities. He further elaborated that this year, the company has launched four models, including the Yezdi Roadster, and another one will be introduced. Trump tariff derailed Classic Legends' US plan US President Donald Trump has imposed a 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods being imported to the country. This includes a 25 per cent tariff and an additional 25 per cent tax as a penalty for buying crude oil from Russia. Like many companies exporting or planning to export goods to the US market, this 50 per cent tariff has hit Classic Legends. Speaking on this, Thareja said that the company plans to launch BSA motorcycles in the US, but the plan has been paused due to the current uncertainty after the US President decided to impose tariffs amounting to a total of 50 per cent on Indian goods. "US, I have no idea... Our bikes are on the high seas. Our bikes are at customs there. We don't know what to do," he said, when asked about the expected dates of launch in the US. He also noted that the US could have been a big market because when BSA was the largest motorcycle brand in the world, the USA was its largest market. Sharing the company's strategy for export markets, Thareja said while BSA will be exported to the developed markets, Jawa will target markets in Eastern Europe, Latin America, including Brazil, Argentina and Chile, and part of North Africa, where Jawa was very popular. "This will be the year where you will see our exports start," he asserted. Check out Upcoming Bikes In India. First Published Date:
