2 Midtown Sacramento Victorian homes damaged in fire
Sacramento Fire crews were dispatched to the scene near 18th and N streets a little after 9 a.m.
Crews found that the fire that had apparently started between two converted Victorian homes had spread into the attics of the buildings. The fire prompted a three-alarm response to be called to the scene.
One person was injured when they broke the window out of one home to get their brother out, Sacramento Fire says. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading to any other buildings. The extent of the damage to the two homes is unclear at this point, however.
Due to the fire response, N Street is closed between 18th and 20th streets.

CDC shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Georgia investigators say
ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the man who fired more than 180 shots at the headquarters of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after killing a police officer. Documents found in a search of the suspect's home 'expressed the shooter's discontent with the Covid 19 vaccinations,' Georgia Bureau of Investigations Director Chris Hosey said. Patrick Joseph White, 30, also had recently verbalized thoughts of suicide, which led to law enforcement being contacted several weeks before the shooting, Hosey said.

Ohio teen drowns in Lake Michigan off Grand Haven City Beach
An 18-year-old Ohio man drowned while swimming in Lake Michigan off Grand Haven City Beach Monday afternoon. Grand Haven police responded to Grand Haven City Beach Area 8 around 1:40 p.m. Monday. Witnesses reported that a man without a life jacket was struggling in the water beyond the buoys. A friend of the teen, as well as fellow beachgoers, reached him by using a life ring and brought him back to the shore. The Ohio teen, identified as Isaiah Edmond, was unresponsive. Police and paramedics performed CPR and other life-saving measures but could not resuscitate Edmond. Edmond was pronounced dead at the scene. Grand Haven State Park had issued a red flag warning Monday morning, with waves reported at three-plus feet. Officials had advised against swimming. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends during this difficult time," Grand Haven police said in a statement.
