
Applied Science University Strengthens Ties with London South Bank University to Expand Global Opportunities

Applied Science University (ASU) has hosted a delegation from London South Bank University (LSBU) in a strategic move to strengthen their Dual Award programmes and enhance global academic opportunities for students.
The three-day visit focused on reinforcing educational collaborations and assessing programme quality. The Dual Award programmes include BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering, BEng (Hons) Architectural Engineering, BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, BA (Hons) Business Management, and LLB (Hons) Law.
During their visit, LSBU representatives engaged with ASU's leadership, academic staff, and students. Discussions centered on curriculum development, student performance, and future academic collaborations. Classroom observations and direct interactions with students highlighted the academic rigour of ASU's programmes, with LSBU's link tutors commending the students' research capabilities, communication skills, and ability to engage in academic discourse.
Professor Waheeb Al Khaja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at ASU, emphasized the significance of the partnership in diversifying academic offerings and enhancing educational standards in Bahrain. He stated that the collaboration aligns with ASU's vision to establish strong international ties, contributing to scientific and research advancements while meeting the objectives set by Bahrain's Higher Education Council.
He further underscored the role of international academic partnerships in positioning Bahrain as a regional hub for higher education, attracting students from diverse backgrounds and fostering an advanced educational ecosystem.
Hatem Masri, President of ASU, highlighted the success of the visit, affirming that it reinforced the shared commitment of both universities to providing programmes aligned with national and regional labour market needs. He stressed that the partnership supports educational development, scientific research, innovation, and community engagement.
Professor Masri also noted that LSBU's positive feedback on ASU's academic quality reaffirms the institution's dedication to refining its academic framework. He emphasized that the collaboration is a testament to ASU's commitment to equipping students with essential skills and knowledge, ensuring their readiness for outstanding career opportunities in an increasingly competitive job market.

Students Present Bold Ideas on Culture of Inquiry and Innovation
Students from Bahrain and the UAE came together virtually yesterday for the launch of the ISCAS 2025 Student Conference, hosted by the Applied Science University (ASU) in Bahrain in partnership with Ajman University. The two-day event, conducted via Microsoft Teams, saw broad participation from students under the guidance of faculty members, highlighting both institutions' commitment to nurturing a culture of inquiry and innovation. The annual academic gathering provides students with a platform to present original research, propose solutions to real-world problems, and strengthen their analytical and communication skills. Day one of the conference featured diverse student-led presentations, ranging from AI-driven health crisis detection to sustainable infrastructure design. Topics also included digital consumer rights and behavioural trends in investment influenced by social media. Two standout initiatives, 'Bazaarna' and 'ExploreLand,' demonstrated how academic concepts can be translated into practical solutions, connecting education to real-world entrepreneurship and exploration. The event continues today with additional sessions focused on law, engineering, and emerging technologies. Scheduled presentations will delve into cybersecurity concerns, smart urban planning models, and AI's expanding role in medical diagnostics. ISCAS 2025 exemplifies the shared academic vision between ASU and Ajman University, reinforcing their efforts to equip students with the tools needed for leadership in research, innovation, and societal development.

Labour Ministry Undersecretary Inaugurates Career Day Event at ASU
Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, inaugurated the 11th Career Day event organised by the Applied Sciences University (ASU). HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highlighted the continuation of the Ministry's efforts, in collaboration with relevant entities, to develop the training and education system in the Kingdom of Bahrain. According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman emphasised the aim to align educational and training outcomes with the labour market's needs for qualified national resources. He noted the importance of enhancing the role of career guidance and counseling to support the choices of graduates and job seekers and assist them in integrating into their professional lives. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman highlighted the necessity for educational and training institutions to keep pace with the latest developments and trends in the labour market, as well as the emerging job patterns within it. Career Day aims to familiarise students with job opportunities in the private sector and help them choose the most suitable specialisations for the job market. University students and graduates can meet HR representatives from 51 public and private sector institutions and companies. The event also introduces the students to the Ministry of Labour's employment, training, and qualification programmes, offered in collaboration with the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). These national efforts aim to meet market demands for skilled Bahraini talent while ensuring that citizens remain the preferred choice in the job market.
