And just like that, Ramayana fever has gripped the country with the arrival of a three-minute, VFX-packed teaser which dropped last week. Although we are still 16 months away from the release of the first instalment in the two-part series, the buzz generated by the promo alone exemplifies how big and highly anticipated the project is. This excitement is not just because it's based on one of the two most important Hindu mythological epics, but also due to the presence of the who's who of the entertainment industry in its cast and crew. Although the teaser was almost entirely crafted using computer graphics, towards its end, we also got a glimpse of actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, playing Rama and Ravana respectively, sending the expectations through the roof.
Now, while the teaser continues to be a major talking point, renowned Kannada actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty has stepped forward to extend his best wishes to Yash, while also hyping him up massively. Stating that Yash's arrival as Ravana would prompt everyone to fight tooth and nail defending the antagonist, Raj also hinted that his fellow Kannadiga would give this all-powerful character the justice it deserves.
'A Kannada poet defends his antihero by stating that the great ocean crosses its limits because of time, bringing events like tsunamis. His antihero was Ravana. I think, for the first time, we vow to defend our Ravana,' Raj B Shetty wrote in the comments section of Yash's post announcing the teaser's arrival. In response, Yash noted, 'Thank you, Shetre! Ramayana, beyond the right and wrong.'
Known for playing the iconic Raja Krishnappa Bairya alias Rocky Bhai in director Prashanth Neel's epic period actioners KGF: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, Ramayana will mark Yash's Bollywood debut as well. He is also co-producing the franchise. Besides Ranbir and Yash, the film series features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
Penned by Shridhar Raghavan, the Ramayana movies are helmed by Nitesh Tiwari. Its music, meanwhile, has been crafted by globally acclaimed maestros Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. While Part 1 is slated to arrive during the Diwali festival season in 2026, the second instalment will hit screens at the same time the following year.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity revered as the remover of obstacles, the god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. During this joyous occasion, devotees bring Lord Ganesha idols to their homes, offer prayers and sweets, and seek his blessings. The festival concludes when the idol is carried in a public procession and immersed (visarjan) in a river or sea on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. Here is a guide to the festival's dates, timings, significance, rituals, and celebrations. When is Ganesh Chaturthi 2025? Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 27, during the Shukla Paksha Chaturthi of the Bhadrapada month, as per the Hindu lunar calendar. Devotees seek Ganesha's blessings for wisdom, prosperity, and success in new ventures. The festival fosters social cohesion, bringing families and communities together through shared rituals and celebrations. The Story of Ganesha's Birth According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from turmeric or sandalwood paste to guard her while she bathed. When Lord Shiva, unaware of Ganesha's identity, was denied entry, a battle ensued, and Shiva severed Ganesha's head. Heartbroken, Parvati pleaded for her son's revival. Shiva instructed his ganas to bring the head of the first living being they found--an elephant. He placed the elephant's head on Ganesha's body, reviving him and declaring him the first deity to be worshipped. Vivek Agnihotri Threatens Legal Action If West Bengal Government Stalls The Bengal Files Release: "Will Pray That..."

New Delhi: Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri on Monday said he would go the legal route if the release of his film The Bengal Files is stalled in West Bengal. The trailer launch of the film in Kolkata was disrupted on Saturday. Agnihotri claimed the event was first cancelled by a multiplex and then moved to a hotel where power supply was disrupted and police turned up asking if permission had been taken. "We will go by the Constitution. We will go legally. If they stop us, we will take the legal course. What can we do? We are common citizens like you… We will pray that sanity prevails and the state government does not do it (stop the release)," the filmmaker said at a press conference here while hitting out at the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government in West Bengal. The Bengal Files, which is slated for release on September 5, revolves around the Calcutta riots of August 16, 1946, which were triggered after the All-India Muslim League called for 'Direct Action Day' to demand a separate homeland. '...This is an Indian film. I am telling you the truth," Agnihotri said. Known for films such as The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, Agnihotri also addressed the many controversies surrounding his latest release, including an FIR by Gopal Chandra Mukherjee's grandson Santanu Mukherjee. Gopal Mukherjee is said to have played a pivotal role in the resistance against the Muslim mob violence in 1946. Santanu claims Agnihotri's film refers to his grandfather as a butcher. Agnihotri said Gopal Mukherjee in his film is an inspired character and not central to the plot. "I will not go into his history. Watch Santanu's interview. I can give you all the links. There is an interview of Gopal Mukherjee on BBC. In that interview, what he has said, we have only shown that much. I have nothing to do with Gopal Mukherjee's life, politics. He was a hero and I have shown him as a hero," he said. "I respect Gopal Mukherjee a lot. His grandsons work with TMC. There is a compulsion there… They have done it legally. We are giving a legal answer to that," he said. Agnihotri claimed the film is his attempt to reveal hidden truths. He said he aims at showing "the untold stories of India". 'Our purpose is very clear. I make films on Hindu civilisation. That is why I make films on Hindu history. I do not consider myself capable of making films on Islamic history or Christian history," he said, adding that filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Vishal Bhardwaj have already made movies on the Islamic history of Kashmir through Roja and Haider. Agnihotri said the censor board passed The Bengal Files without any cuts though it went through the examining committee and then the revising committee. "This film was made with a lot of responsibility and sincerity. No one can object to this. Bengalis will be proud of this film." The Bengal Files stars Mithun Chakraborty, Saswata Chatterjee, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Priyanshu Chatterjee and Darshan Kumar.

Directed by JP Thuminad, 'Su From So' blends comedy and the supernatural, telling the story of a man suddenly possessed by a female spirit, Sulochana from Someshwara. With its sharp take on misogyny, egotism and friendships in a rural setting, the film has struck a chord with audiences across regions. Made on an overall budget of approximately Rs 6 crore, 'Su From So' is a strong reminder that for a film to succeed in theatres it does not necessarily have to be an event film, but one that delivers a memorable experience. The low-budget Kannada film stood firm against star-led releases like 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu', 'Kingdom' and 'Ace', and is still performing well against 'War 2' and 'Coolie'.Directed by JP Thuminad, who has also acted in the film, 'Su From So' features Shaneel Gautham, Raj B Shetty, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash K Thuminadu, Deepak Rai Panaje and Mime Ramdas, among others. The music for the film has been composed by Sumedh K, and it has been produced by Shashidhar Shetty Baroda, Ravi Rai Kalasa and Raj B Shetty under the banner Lighter Buddha Films. 'Su From So' and 'Mahavtar Narasimha' are examples of how audiences are always willing to try something different.
