Eid invite turns into horror: 3 minors raped by 2 men in Calangute hotel

Time of Indiaa day ago

Panaji: An invitation to celebrate Eid on Saturday turned into a nightmare for three minor girls aged between 11 and 15 — including two sisters — who were raped at a Calangute hotel by two friends.
Goa Police arrested both accused, aged 19 and 21.
The hotel owner — Rajat Chauhan, a native of Haryana — was also arrested later in the day for allegedly allowing the minor girls to stay without verification and consent from their parents, thereby facilitating the crime.
A few months ago, the 19-year-old accused befriended the 15-year-old girl on social media and began chatting with her. Last week, he invited her to celebrate Eid.
The 15-year-old girl — whom cops described as the 19-year-old accused's 'girlfriend' — left home with her 13-year-old sister and an 11-year-old friend on Saturday to meet the prime accused.
The prime accused (19) and his friend (21) booked a room at a Calangute hotel, where the duo checked in with the three minors to stay overnight and celebrate the 15-year-old girl's birthday by cutting a cake. Thereafter, the prime accused allegedly raped his 'girlfriend' while his friend raped the other two minors, repeatedly.

North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said cops received a complaint from the 15-year-old girl's family alleging that the minor sisters had left their residence on Saturday and did not return. Meanwhile, the 11-year-old girl's kin filed another complaint, alleging that their minor daughter was missing, and they suspected that she may have gone out with the daughters of the first complainant.
'After meticulous efforts and after developing the information through reliable human sources and technical sources, all three minor survivors were rescued from a hotel in Calangute.
Two men present with them were apprehended and brought to the police station. During the inquiry at the hotel, it was revealed that the accused checked into two different hotel rooms,' said SP Gupta.
Goa police filed two separate FIRs in the case. 'During the investigation, both accused were arrested,' SP Gupta said.
Calangute Police booked hotel owner Chauhan and hotel manager/receptionist Mansoor Shafi Peer, a native of J&K, for allegedly abetting the crime. 'We are sealing the hotel and moving for the cancellation of its licence,' SP Gupta said, adding that hotel management and owners will not be spared if they give a room to a child in the absence of any family or relatives accompanying him/her. 'This is in violation of Goa Children's Act.
If any such violation is noticed in the future too, strict action will be taken,' he said.

12 men accused of murder during 2020 riots acquitted

New Delhi: A court acquitted 12 people accused of killing a youth during the 2020 riots in northeast Delhi, citing a lack of evidence and contradictions in the statements of witnesses. The court of additional sessions judge Pulastya Pramachala said on June 5 that the investigating agency failed to prove the charges of murder, rioting, criminal conspiracy to murder and destruction of evidence against the accused. According to the prosecution, 12 men who were part of a rioting mob on Feb 25, 2020, killed Aas Mohammad and threw him in the drain at Bhagirathi Vihar/Johripur pulia. He was coming on foot from the Loni border side in Ghaziabad. The chargesheet was filed on the charges of murder along with rioting, arson, criminal conspiracy, promoting enmity between different religious groups and statements conducing to public mischief under Indian Penal Code. The prosecution also alleged that as per the chats of a WhatsApp group, the accused and their associates conspired to teach Muslims a lesson for attacking the Hindus. They equipped themselves with lathis, dandas, sticks, etc., by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? The court gave the benefit of doubt to all accused. "In the absence of some concrete evidence laying down the foundation, no presumption can be raised that some persons identified as part of some mob at some place at some other time period would also have been part of a mob, and such mob was involved in the incident of murder of Aas Mohammad," the judge noted in the 62-page judgment. The acquitted people are Lokesh Kumar Solanki, Pankaj Sharma, Sumit Chaudhary, Ankit Chaudhary, Prince, Rishabh Chaudhary, Jatin Sharma, Vivek Panchal, Himanshu Thakur, Tinku Arora, Sandeep Thakur and Sahil alias Babu. However, the court convicted Solanki of promoting enmity, doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony and statements conducing to public mischief for inciting communal violence during the riots. "Accused Lokesh was a member of this group since the beginning. Some of the messages posted by him in this group are already reproduced in this judgment. I have gone through the messages posted in this group by different members. As the name suggests, the central focus of messages in this group has been to unite the persons from the Hindu community. However, on that pretext, messages started pouring in to the effect of abusing the Muslims. Messages were posted to call upon the members to assemble together, so as to counter the Muslims," the judge said. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Nolta's murder: One arrested, mastermind still at large

1 2 Panchkula: In a chilling twist to a crime that has shaken the quiet town of Pinjore, police have arrested one of the key suspects in the brutal murder of national kabaddi player Sonu Nolta, even as the alleged mastermind, Piyush Piplani, remains on the run. The arrest came a week after Nolta was gunned down outside Amravati Mall on June 5, a night that turned deadly when four men allegedly ambushed him in a calculated act of violence. The motive? A sinister bid to assert dominance in the area, police claimed. The breakthrough came Wednesday evening when police nabbed Sameer Khan, a resident of Saini Mohalla, who had been living under the radar. His arrest followed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 10, led by ACP (crime) Arvind Kamboj. Investigators believe Sameer was drawn into a deadly alliance with Piplani and another local, Ankush Solanki. Together, they allegedly plotted Nolta's murder, conducting a recce in a car before executing their plan. On the fateful night, as Nolta arrived at the mall to watch a movie, the assailants struck. Gunfire erupted, leaving Nolta fatally wounded and his cousin, Nitin alias Prince Rana, injured. In a brazen move, the suspects uploaded a video of the attack on social media — an act that would become their undoing. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Indian Stewardess Makes Headlines Worldwide medalmerit Learn More Undo Police traced the video's IP address within hours. Ironically, during their escape, Piplani reportedly shot himself in the hand by accident. The group abandoned their vehicle at PGI Chandigarh the next day, where police later recovered a spent cartridge — vital forensic evidence. With Piplani still at large, police have launched an aggressive manhunt. Eight special teams are scouring hideouts across Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Mohali. Investigators are leaving no stone unturned — tracking digital footprints, analyzing call records, and interrogating friends and family. DCP (crime) Amit Dahiya confirmed that past criminal records of the suspects are under scrutiny, and forensic experts are working to build an airtight case. On Thursday, Sameer was remanded to five days in police custody. During the court hearing, Nitin Rana, still recovering from his injuries, identified Sameer as one of the shooters. Sumit's father Kamal Singh Meena filed a complaint at the Bilaspur police station, alleging that the crash was caused by Neeraj's rash and negligent driving. An FIR was registered under sections 106 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 125(a) (rash driving), and 281 (act endangering public safety) of BNS. "He (Sumit) told us he was heading home with an uncle. We had no idea he would be going out with friends or to Delhi," his younger brother Amit (18) said.
