Two New FC Barcelona Stars Score On Debut Versus Vissel Kobe
Two new FC Barcelona first team stars scored on their debuts as the Catalans beat Vissel Kobe 3-1 in a preseason friendly match on Sunday.
There were doubts that Hansi Flick's men would even take the plane to the Far East after a promoter dispute came to the forefront ahead of the weekend.
On Friday, however, Barca did indeed head to Asia where it is scheduled to play three friendlies in total.
The first of those fixtures is against Blaugrana legend Andres Iniesta's first team after leaving Barca in 2016, Vissel Kobe, and his fellow former La Masia pupil opened the scoring on 33 minutes amid Japanese fans getting the chance to see Lamine Yamal with the number 10 on his back.
After a slip up at the back by Cubarsi, though, the hosts equalized past the only debutant in new goalkeeper Joan Garcia ahead of half time.
During the interval, Flick changed all 11 players which also meant that the likes of Marcus Rashford, Roony Bardghji and Dro Fernandez got their maiden minutes in the first team.
While Rashford came close and his shot saved, though, both Bardghji and Fernandez enjoyed dream debuts by getting on the scoresheet in the 77th and 88th minutes respectively to seal a 3-1 win.
While Bardghji cooly terminated a move involving Robert Lewandowski, Fernandez had to concentrate his best to volley a shot into the far bottom corner after a poor clearance and caused SPORT to say that a 'star is born'.
Unfortunately for them, two other Fernandez boys in Guillermo and Toni couldn't off the bench, but they are sure to feature at some other point of the tour.
While Wojciech Szczesny replaced Joan Garcia, Diego Kochen wasn't introduced at any part of the proceedings as the third shotstopper in the squad.
As we know, Marc-Andre ter Stegen isn't part of the team in Asia after once again falling to a back injury which will require surgery.
FC Barcelona will now head to Korea
After wrapping up its commitments in Japan, FC Barcelona will now head to South Korea. It will have a few days rest ahead of taking on FC Seoul on July 31 at 13.00 PM, and then meeting Daegu FC on August 4.

Lions reportedly make unexpected quarterback decision for NFL Hall of Fame game
The Detroit Lions are set to square off against the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL Hall of Fame game on Thursday, and the team is reportedly rolling with a different starting quarterback than expected. According to ESPN's Pat McAfee, the Lions are starting Kyle Allen at quarterback on Thursday versus the Chargers. However, McAfee also stated that Hendon Hooker will be seeing the field at some point. "According to sources, Kyle Allen will be getting the start. But we will be seeing Hendon Hooker," McAfee stated on his show. Many assumed that Hooker would receive the start for Thursday's preseason opener, as the Tennessee product is the heavy favorite to be the No.2 quarterback behind Jared Goff. But it looks like the coaching staff wants to see Allen first and give Hooker most of the action afterwards. Hooker, who was selected with the No.68 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, missed most of his rookie season as he rehabbed from a torn ACL. The 27-year-old didn't see much action in 2024 and was even replaced by Teddy Bridgewater as the backup quarterback later in the year. Though Hooker isn't starting on Thursday, he should play a good chunk of the game and will receive an opportunity to show that there shouldn't even be a QB2 competition. However, the experienced Allen, who has started 19 regular-season games in his seven-year career so far, also has a chance to put some pressure on Hooker and make the battle for No.2 quarterback a bit more interesting. Detroit and Los Angeles will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, and both teams will not play most of their starters and key reserves. Los Blancos forced to face Osasuna on August 19 despite Club World Cup fatigue La Liga Rejects Real Madrid's Request to Delay Season Opener Real Madrid's attempt to postpone their opening La Liga fixture against Osasuna has been officially denied by the league authorities. Why Did Real Madrid Make the Request? The Spanish giants sought an extension to their preseason recovery time after participating in the FIFA Club World cup held in the U.S this summer. With their 1st La Liga match scheduled for 19 Aug, the club argued that they needed more time for rest & preparation. According to Marca, the league's disciplinary judge rejected Madrid's plea citing adherence to player rest regulations. He confirmed that the squad received proper break under Article 10.1 of the Professional Football Activities Agreement. Rest Days Confirmed Real Madrid played the Club World cup semifinal on 9 Jul. Players returned to Spain on 10 Jul. Rest period began 11 Jul, giving them the full 21 consecutive days required by law What's Next? Despite the tight timeline, Xabi Alonso'll have just 15 day of preseason training before facing Osasuna in their 2025 /26 La Liga opener on Tuesday 19 August.
