A wet South Florida Fourth of July with afternoon showers and thunderstorms
While the morning is mainly dry, late morning through the afternoon scattered storms will develop with the potential for heavy downpours. The heating of the day along with a very moist atmosphere will help fuel the thunderstorms. There is a marginal risk (Level 1) of flooding in spots.
Afternoon highs will rise to the upper 80s.
Heavy rainfall, combined with rain from the previous day, may lead to isolated flooding.
NEXT Weather
Some storms will be possible in the early evening but the chance of rain decreases later around fireworks display times, which should be mainly dry but cloudy.
It will not be a great beach day, with cloudy conditions and storms. There is a low risk of rip currents along the Atlantic beaches and the UV index is very high. There are no alerts or advisories for boaters along the Atlantic waters and Keys waters, but they're advised to keep their eyes on the sky as passing storms will be moving in throughout the afternoon.
Chance of rain decreases over the weekend and next week.
NEXT Weather
Saturday will have a soggy start with showers and storms in the morning. The wet weather will likely linger through the afternoon with some heavy rain at times. Highs will stay in the upper 80s.
The chance of rain is not quite as high on Sunday but spotty storms will still be possible in the afternoon.
By early next week, the chance of rain decreases to 30% with only a few showers and storms possible on Monday through Wednesday. With less rain around, afternoon temperatures will head back up to around 90 degrees.

South Florida sees soggy Fourth of July, but drier skies likely for weekend evening plans South Florida sees soggy Fourth of July, but drier skies likely for weekend evening plans South Florida sees soggy Fourth of July, but drier skies likely for weekend evening plans A weather system tracking the Southeast U.S. coastline has officially strengthened this Friday into Tropical Depression 3, according to the National Hurricane Center. While the system is not expected to impact South Florida, the NEXT Weather team is keeping a close eye on the tropics, especially with the potential for holiday travel disruptions as the storm system continues to develop. The depression is slowly gaining strength and could become Tropical Storm Chantal by Saturday afternoon. If named, this would be the third storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Forecast calls for possible landfall in South Carolina As of Friday, the depression was located just off the Carolina coastline and is expected to drift close to shore through the day Saturday. The National Hurricane Center's forecast cone showed the storm with a possibility to make landfall somewhere along the South Carolina coast this weekend or early next week. The system is expected to bring very heavy rainfall and gusty winds to parts of the Southeast, including coastal areas of North and South Carolina. Storm impact expected to be limited While the storm will likely cause localized flooding and travel issues, the overall impact will be relatively minor. The NEXT Weather Team will continue providing updates as the system evolves.
