Study warns of common food substance that may impair male fertility

Saba Yemen25-05-2025

New York - (Saba):
A new study has raised serious concerns about sucralose, the popular artificial sweetener, as findings indicate it may negatively affect male fertility.
In the study, published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, researchers administered doses of sucralose to male mice over a period of two months and observed decreased sperm vitality, damage to testicular tissue, and hormonal disturbances.
These findings are particularly significant in light of the escalating global fertility crisis. The shocking irony is that recent studies show that men are responsible for nearly half of infertility cases, with sperm counts declining by more than 50% in Western countries since the 1970s.
However, experts caution against over-interpreting these results. Dr. Dan Nayot, a reproductive endocrinologist, points out that the research was conducted on rodents at high doses, which calls for caution when generalizing the results to humans. He also explains that the actual decline in testosterone levels over recent decades may be in the range of 20-25%, a worrying percentage, although lower than current estimates.
There are multiple factors behind this silent health crisis, with unhealthy lifestyles playing a major role. Smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, obesity, and lack of physical activity all contribute to the decline in male reproductive health. Experts emphasize that the sperm production process, which takes between two and three months, is highly sensitive to these external influences.
In the face of this health challenge, experts recommend a preventative approach based on improving overall lifestyle. Dr. Nayot emphasizes the importance of good sleep, regular physical activity, and a balanced diet, along with the possibility of using some fertility-boosting nutritional supplements such as coenzyme Q10, zinc, and vitamin E.
He also notes that sperm health largely reflects an individual's overall health, making sperm care an indicator of overall health.
Scientists are now seeking to conduct further research to confirm these findings in humans. In the meantime, it seems wise to follow the principle that prevention is better than cure and to search for safer natural alternatives to artificial sweeteners.

Gaza Health Ministry condemns Zionist Enemy's destruction of Noor Al-Kaabi Dialysis Center

The Ministry warned that destroying this facility creates an unprecedented health catastrophe for kidney patients, with unpredictable consequences. It revealed that 41% of kidney failure patients have died during the war due to being denied access to dialysis treatment after the systematic destruction of specialized medical facilities. The Ministry accused the enemy of implementing a dangerous policy to empty northern Gaza of hospitals and specialized healthcare centers through targeted destruction. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

Entisaf Organization Documents 600 Days of Zionist Genocide Crimes in Gaza

Sana'a – SABA: While the world lives in peace, the residents of the Gaza Strip have endured 600 days of suffering and hardship due to genocide crimes committed by the Zionist enemy, supported by the US and Europe. These crimes have resulted in catastrophic conditions and ongoing tragedies, accompanied by siege, starvation, and attempts at forced displacement amid disgraceful international silence and Arab abandonment. Continuing its aggression on Gaza, the Entisaf Organization for Women and Children's Rights has documented the crimes committed over these 600 days, reporting that the number of martyrs exceeded 54,000, with over 123,000 wounded, and more than 9,000 missing—either under the rubble or with an unknown fate. Over 60% of the martyrs are children and the elderly. According to a statement received by SABA News Agency, child martyrs alone numbered over 18,000, with 16,854 children reaching hospitals. The number of women martyrs exceeded 12,000, with 8,968 women reaching hospitals. The statement highlighted that 932 children under the age of one were killed, and 356 infants born during these 600 days were martyred. Additionally, there are over 42,000 orphaned children and 14,000 widows. It noted that over 2.4 million people in Gaza are being subjected to genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing. There are over 2 million displaced persons, with 242 deaths from lack of food, mostly children and elderly, and 58 malnutrition victims, including 53 children. 17 people died from cold exposure, 14 of whom were children. Entisaf also reported over 2,136 cases of infectious diseases due to forced displacement, 71,338 cases of hepatitis, and more than 300 miscarriages among pregnant women. Around 60,000 pregnant women are at risk, and 70,000 children are in danger of dying due to hunger and food shortages. The organization deemed the genocide in Gaza a serious violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits the targeting of civilians in any form. The civilian nature of the targeted areas clearly indicates the Zionist entity's intentional violation of humanitarian principles such as humanity, distinction, and proportionality—amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Entisaf held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for all crimes targeting civilians, hospitals, and ambulances, and also blamed the United Nations, the Security Council, and Muslim and Arab states for their shameful silence and failure to fulfill their obligations—encouraging further war crimes by the Zionist regime. The organization renewed its call on the international community, especially the International Court of Justice, to open investigations and hold those responsible accountable. It also called on human rights and humanitarian organizations, Arab and Islamic countries, and the free people of the world to assume their moral and humanitarian responsibility by supporting the Palestinian people, condemning these atrocities, and pressuring the UN, particularly the Security Council, to carry out their legal and moral duty to protect civilians and stop the Israeli aggression. The bleeding of Palestinian lives in Gaza and all of Palestine continues, enabled by international silence and disgraceful Arab inaction—emboldening the Zionist enemy to commit even more genocide, in total disregard of international laws and conventions.
