Rangers officially pull St Mirren postponement request as Ibrox chiefs perform walk back
Under new rules, Scottish Premiership clubs can request the league fixture sandwiched between both legs of European play-off ties can be postponed to help with preparations.
Aberdeen and Hibs have both taken the SPFL up on their option to push back games against Dundee Utd and Falkirk respectively, although Celtic have chosen not to ahead of their Champions League playoff round encounter.

Rangers have all but joined them after a 3-0 first leg victory over Viktoria Plzen in the third qualifying round, and had asked for their trip to Paisley to be rescheduled ahead of their playoff clash against either Club Brugge or RB Salzburg.
However, boss Russell Martin has since claimed that nothing had been decided following a stuttering start in the league that has seen the Light Blues held away to Motherwell and at home to Dundee.
If Rangers had rescheduled their trip along the M8 then their next league game would have been the visit of Celtic on August 31 and defeat to their fierce rivals, assuming the Hoops beat Livingston the previous weekend, would have seen Gers fall TEN points behind.
And Nasser Djiga would also have been unavailable for the Old Firm game after he was sent off against Dundee at the weekend.
But now Rangers have confirmed that they will take on Stephen Robinson's men on the original date, meaning the on-loan Wolves man will miss that game instead.
A statement read: "Rangers can confirm our request to potentially postpone our Scottish Premiership match with St Mirren later this month has been withdrawn.
"The game will now take place at 12noon on Sunday, August 24 at the SMiSA Stadium and be broadcast live by Sky Sports."
The SPFL also said: "Following further discussions with Rangers, St Mirren, and relevant stakeholders, we can confirm that Rangers have withdrawn their request to postpone their William Hill Premiership Round 3 match against St Mirren if they reach the play-off round of the Champions League.
"The match will now take place as originally planned on Sunday August 24, kick-off 12 noon, with the game to be shown live on Sky Sports."

Russell Martin explains heavily rotated Rangers XI vs Alloa
Rangers boss Russell Martin has made 10 changes to his team to face Alloa Athletic. The League One team visit Ibrox in the Premier Sports Cup last 16. Rangers come into the match after a 4-2 aggregate win over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League qualifiers. Martin has made several alterations from Tuesday evening's second leg in the Czech Republic, bringing the likes of Emmanuel Fernandez, Max Aarons, Mikey Moore and Bailey Rice, among others, into the team tonight. Martin said [RangersTV]: "We have a lot of guys on the pitch who have trained outstandingly well over the past couple of weeks. Goodwin confident he can get United 'going'
Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin is confident he can "get them going" following Thursday's Conference League disappointment. United lost on penalties to Rapid Vienna in the third qualifying round and the Tangerines face a Sunday trip to Rugby Park to take on Kilmarnock in the Premier Sports Cup second round. "I don't think it will be difficult to get them going," said Goodwin. "I do obviously have a concern around about the energy levels within the group. "A number of the players have had to play every minute of every game this season so far, given the amount of players we have missing. "It was my first time as manager being involved in European football and I can respect what other managers and teams have had to go through in years gone by and I can see how difficult it is to get that balance right. "When you're missing seven or eight key players like we have been over the last three or four weeks, then it makes that all the more difficult, unfortunately."

'His ceiling is so high'
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers claimed the sky is the limit for Dane Murray after the centre-back celebrated his new contract with a maiden goal in first-team football. The 22-year-old headed home Celtic's third goal from an Arne Engels corner as the Rodgers' side beat Falkirk 4-1 at Parkhead to reach the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals. The central defender made his first appearances for Celtic in the Champions League play-offs against Midtjylland in 2021 but subsequently suffered two separate cruciate ligament injuries and did not play another first-team game for three years. He was recalled from a loan spell at Queen's Park midway through last season but injury ended his campaign prematurely after he returned to the Celtic team. However, he was one of six players drafted in by Rodgers on Friday and took his chance with a header from close range. Rodgers said: "It's great for him because he's a great boy. He's got a lot of potential. And I think over the next 12 to 18 months, he's going to really grow. "His ceiling is so high. There are areas of the game he needs to clearly work on. But he's 6ft 4in, he's quick, he can take the ball. "He has a comfort with the ball which aligns with top players. Just, concentration is something that's key for defenders. "But I really, really like him and that's the reason we've tied him down [to a new contract] - and I think he's got a great future."
