On Tuesday, August 12, USAA and the Ravens hosted 100 active duty military members from Fort Meade and Fort Detrick for the first-ever USAA Salute to Service Boot Camp at Ravens training camp.
Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti makes it a point to keep his gold standard franchise involved with the local community, and recent practice included more than just Ray Lewis and Michael Phelps.
On Tuesday, USAA and the Ravens hosted 100 active duty military members from Fort Meade and Fort Detrick for the first-ever USAA Salute to Service Boot Camp at Ravens training camp.
In what can only be described as an NFL fan's dream, the military members were split into teams to train like Ravens for a day at the spirited event. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, the service members competed in a mini-scouting combine, with events including the 40-yard dash, broad jump, three-cone shuttle, receiving gauntlet, and the QB arm challenge.
Each competitor was scored during each drill, and their cumulative scores were added to their overall team score. A live leaderboard was used to capture participants' scores, and each member from the winning team received tickets to the Ravens' Salute to Service game this season.
The USAA Salute to Service Boot Camp was the first event of many authentic military appreciation initiatives that USAA and the Ravens have created to foster an understanding and appreciation for the local military community, bringing them closer to a game they love.

Swimming legend Michael Phelps gives Baltimore Ravens swimming lessons

Last month, some members of the Baltimore Ravens requested assistance in learning to swim. Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey then posted a video to Instagram with teammates offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley, safety Kyle Hamilton and tight end Charlie Kolar asking the greatest swimmer of all-time, Baltimore native Michael Phelps, to lend a helping hand. "Mr. Phelps, we have a problem. Did you know that one in three Ravens cannot swim? We have a solution for you, sir. Come to Ravens training camp and this beautiful aquatic center and teach us how to swim," they said. The 23-time Olympic gold medalist was more than happy to oblige. "I got y'all!!! Let's do it!" he said. Phelps made a trip to the Ravens training camp Tuesday, and then the team hopped on buses and headed over to Loyola University's aquatic center for a swimming lesson. "I didn't know what I was getting into," Phelps said. "I had no idea what their comfort level was. When I see the guys in there and some of the guys who are literally working on floating and breathing, and they're focused on paying attention to those details, it shows their vulnerability, especially when they're uncomfortable. It was a special day. Racing some of the fellas in the 25 (meter). My son raced some of the guys. It was a great day. I truly hope they learned something, hopefully got some confidence, and hopefully can transition into something else." Members of the Michael Phelps Foundation helped in the lesson, and the Ravens gave back by making a $100,000 donation to the foundation. Recent theory details the Ravens expected outcome for coming regular season

The Baltimore Ravens flock shouldn't have any issues with a recent AFC North forecast. Those of you who follow this platform's work closely have seen this stated once before. It bears repeating for the sake of argument. HBO may have jumped the gun last season. It feels like this should have been the year that the Baltimore Ravens and their AFC North rivals were followed by the Hard Knocks cameras. There's so much to discuss. Aaron Rodgers recently joined the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cleveland Browns have seemingly nine quarterbacks, including two rookie that you may have heard of. Ladies and gentlemen, how wbaout a hand for Dillon Gabriel and the oft-discussed Shedeur Sabders? Don't forget about the Cincinnati Bengals. Like Baltimore, they're home tone of the NFL's eite quarterbacks, but the 'Bungles', outside of paying Joe Burrow and their star wide receivers haven't done anything that makes much sense. All of that would certainly make for great television, but Hard Knock's will instead dedicate its In Season brand to following the four members of the NFC East. That's okay. Though we won't be treated to the behind-the-scenes accesss delivered by HBO last season, most believe they know how this story will play out. Stop us if you have heard his before. Ravens are again predicted to win the AFC North's crown The Ravens are again the favorites to win their division. If they do, they will accomplish a feat not seen since the AFC Central transformed into a four-team division 23 years ago. No team has won the AFC North crown three consecutive seasons, and Baltimore is predicted to end the jinx. We have all heard that for a while now. Bleacher Repoort's Moe Moton has become the most recent voice to express that theory. "Two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson and two-time rushing champion Derrick Henry will lead the Ravens to back-to-back AFC North titles. They should have plenty of help from their defense. They may allow the fewest passing yards and touchdowns because of their elite secondary, which features All-Pros Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton, two-time Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander, budding second-year cornerback Nate Wiggins and rookie first-round safety Malaki Starks." As Moten mentions, "the stacked roster will compete for the No. 1 seed in the AFC." The biggest threats to accomlishing that are the usual suspects, the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite Pittsburgh's effforts to challenge, there is minimal reason to worry. Aaron Rodgers is now a shell of himself. Baltimore's much-improved defensive unit features seven former first-round draft choices. There is talebt all over this roster. The only team that can stop the Ravens is... well... the Baltimore Ravens, which is an unfortunate angle we have seen play out in consecutive postseasons. Still, if this team has learned from its mistakes and they don't beat themselves, few NFL franchsies have the firepower to compete with the mighty and defending AFC North champions.
