Charles Barkley Drops Retirement Plans After Final 'Inside the NBA' TNT Episode

Charles Barkley Drops Retirement Plans After Final 'Inside the NBA' TNT Episode originally appeared on Athlon Sports. "Inside the NBA" has been a staple for basketball fans for the past 36 years, and on Saturday night, TNT aired its final episode. Shaquille O'Neal, Kenny Smith, Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, and the rest of the crew aren't going away, though, with the show moving to ESPN starting next season. Advertisement It was a bittersweet moment for everyone at TNT. But despite the move, the crew will continue working with TNT and ESPN simultaneously. Barkley was a guest on the "Dan Patrick Show," and said, "If they're being honest, we're gonna probably work on ESPN one-third or half the time." Barkley has been outspoken about his concerns with the move because of his schedule. He has made it clear he doesn't want to take on more work as he is set to move between the two networks. "If they start trying to work me too much between ESPN and TNT, I'm just gonna walk on home," Barkley added. Advertisement Barkley went on to discuss his retirement plans, saying he has seven years left on his TNT deal, but he's only got two more years in him. "I actually have seven years left on my contract," Barkley stated. "I'm like, yeah, there's no way I'm working seven years. I said, I'm gonna be a good soldier for Kenny, Ernie, and Shaq, and the people I work with. Because I love the people I work with, especially behind the scenes. "I said, but the best I can do is two years. And them other five years, they got no chance of happening. So I said, you know what, I'll give y'all two years. They're like, can we get three? I said, I just told you, I ain't gonna give you two." 11-time NBA All-Star and "Inside the NBA" host Charles Terada-Imagn Images The 16-year NBA legend also spoke about what he's going to be doing at TNT now that the show is moving to ESPN. He said he and the rest of his crew filmed a "pilot" a month ago for TNT and called it the "stupidest (expletive) I've ever seen." Advertisement "TNT is trying to do something stupid behind the scenes," Barkley added. "We taped a pilot about a month ago. And it was the stupidest (expletive) I've ever seen in my life... Barkley said TNT wants to have a show with no "basketball highlights." "Number one, we won't have basketball highlights," Barkley said. "But also, we're probably going to be going up against the NBA game. And anybody who likes basketball ain't going to say, hey, you know what, let me turn off an NBA game that's on Amazon, ESPN, or NBC to go watch these four dudes sit around and talk about nothing." Michael Jordan News Emerges Amid $40 Million NBA Return Rumors

Michael Jordan News Emerges Amid $40 Million NBA Return Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Michael Jordan, widely considered the greatest basketball player of all time, is set to return to the NBA next season. While he won't be suiting up and stepping on the court, he'll be taking on a new role. With the league's broadcast moving from TNT to NBC for the 2025-26 season, Jordan will serve as a "special contributor" for NBC's coverage. Advertisement His exact role hasn't been announced, but getting the six-time NBA champion to come out of retirement and appear on television likely took a lot. On the "PBD Podcast," Patrick Bet-David mentioned that Jordan is reportedly receiving a $40 million annual deal. Michael Jordan is honored for being selected to the NBA 75th Anniversary Terada-Imagn Images On Monday, Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports (FOS) confirmed that the amount is inaccurate. "A source tells Front Office Sports that this number, which is about twice what Charles Barkley makes per year from TNT, is inaccurate. NBC declined to comment," Glasspiegel wrote. Despite the NBA's coverage moving on from TNT, Barkley is still under contract with the network as he prepares to work for both TNT and ESPN next season. He signed a 10-year, $210 million extension with TNT in 2022, according to FOS's Michael McCarthy. Advertisement ESPN's Stephen A. Smith was on that episode of the "PDBD Podcast" and shared he thinks Jordan will be "brutally honest" when he's on the air next season. "Let me tell you something about Michael Jordan: He's going to be brutally honest—oh, I can assure you that,' Smith said. "He's not going to be somebody who's going to be passive…The Michael Jordan I know, when talking basketball, he is as candid as it gets. He ain't trying to hurt nobody's feelings. He ain't trying to be insulting but he's going to tell you what's going on." Puma Unveils Tyrese Haliburton Signature Sneaker Ahead of NBA Finals

NBA star Tyrese Haliburton is one of the major reasons the Indiana Pacers will be representing the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, with Game 1 tipping off Thursday night on ABC. The 25-year-old Haliburton has not only played exceptionally well throughout this impressive Pacers' playoff run, he also happily embraced playing the role of the trolling villain to rabid Knicks fans under the bright lights at Madison Square Garden. Advertisement While the two-time NBA All-Star has always been a very good player, there probably hasn't been a time in Haliburton's five-year career where his name has been anywhere close to as hot as it's become over the last month. That's probably why Puma, who Haliburton signed a multi-year deal with before the season started, decided to strike while the iron's scorching hot and unveiled his signature sneaker literally hours before the start of the 2025 NBA Finals. This new line of signature Haliburton sneakers have been officially dubbed as The Puma Hali 1. What you're seeing in the above photos is The Puma Hali 1 "Hibiscus," which is reportedly set to release in September. Advertisement However, there won't be any kind of waiting game for Haliburton, who is expected to be debuting the signature shoe in the NBA Finals. "When I signed with Puma the first order of business was to sign a signature athlete," said respected designer Salehe Bembury, who also serves as VP of men's footwear at Versace. "They showed me a list of available and unavailable NBA athletes and told me to choose one to recruit. I chose Tyrese … He is him." Puma seems to have truly caught lightning in a bottle in choosing Haliburton, as he had just left Nike prior to this season. As of now, there has been no confirmed listed retail price for The Hali 1 "Hibiscus." Advertisement Haliburton and the Pacers are set to face the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
