iOS 27 to be built for iPhone Fold
iPhone Fold buzz is gradually intensifying as Apple is reportedly moving to finalise key elements and crucial parts for manufacturing. Now, analyst Mark Gurman gives us more details about what Apple has been planning for its first folding iPhone. Reportedly, the tech giant will soon start working on the new-generation software, presumably called iOS 27. Gurman said, 'Apple will prioritise software features tailored specifically to this new form factor.' This new software will likely focus on the foldable iPhone, bringing features and a user interface that aligns with dual-screen requirements.

Since Apple already masters large-screen software with iPadOS, we can anticipate that iOS 27 for iPhone Fold could carry a few similar UI features as next-gen iPads. However, we can expect a few iterations due to the foldable screen. The most crucial part of foldable UI would be the transition between the cover and main foldable screen, as many company fails to offer smooth transitions. Therefore, tech enthusiasts and foldable buyers will have greater expectations from iPhone Fold, considering the company's commitment to high-quality devices and one of the most loved software.
Over the years, Chinese smartphone brands like Oppo, Vivo, Huawei, and others have already made a big impression in the foldable industry. Additionally, Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 is gaining popularity for its slimmest foldable phone, making it tough for Apple to meet user expectations in all aspects. Apart from competition, the iPhone Fold is expected to be priced above $2,000, which could put the foldable in a tough spot.

Google Pixel 10 series may drop SIM slot in favour of dual eSIMs: Report
Google is reportedly planning to phase out physical SIM card support with its upcoming Pixel 10 series smartphones. As per a report by 9To5Google, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL may feature dual eSIM support without a physical SIM slot. Meanwhile, the next-generation foldable, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, could adopt a hybrid setup with both physical SIM and eSIM compatibility. This claim contrasts with earlier leaked images that appeared to show a SIM tray on the Pixel 10's side frame. It is possible Google could follow Apple's regional strategy — in the US, newer iPhones only support eSIM, while other markets still get physical SIM slots. Google might adopt a similar approach, offering eSIM-only models in some regions and retaining physical SIM slots elsewhere. Google Pixel 10 series: Global launch Event: Made by Google Date: August 20, 2025 Time: 10:30 pm (IST) Livestream: YouTube Google Pixel 10 series: India launch Date: August 21, 2025 Google Pixel 10 series: What to expect The Pixel 10 lineup is expected to include four models — Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold — all reportedly powered by the Google Tensor G5 chipset. Built on TSMC's 3nm process, the chip is anticipated to deliver better performance and efficiency, along with a new custom image signal processor (ISP) aimed at enhancing photo and video quality. On the camera side, the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold may use the same main and ultra-wide sensors found in the Pixel 9a, which would be a step down from the Pixel 9. However, the base Pixel 10 may gain the 5x periscope telephoto lens from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Pro and Pro XL models are expected to retain last year's camera hardware. The upcoming devices are also likely to support the 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging standard. Google is also said to be working on a new 'Pixelsnap' accessory lineup, which could include magnetic wireless chargers and cases. The Pixel 10 series is expected to be available in fresh colour options. Google has already previewed the Pixel 10 Pro in a blue-grey tone, likely called 'Moonstone,' while the base variant may arrive in a new 'Indigo' shade. In terms of software, the Pixel 10 series is expected to launch with Android 16. Google is also likely to introduce new Gemini-powered AI features, such as 'Camera Coach,' which could use visual intelligence to provide real-time photography tips, and a conversational Photo Editing tool, allowing users to make changes to images simply by describing what they want adjusted — like removing background elements or modifying scenes — without manually selecting tools.

iPhone 17 Air Leak Reveals Screen Size and Key Details Ahead of Launch
Apple's next big smartphone lineup is almost here, and a fresh leak has given us a clearer picture of where the new iPhone 17 Air could fit. Expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, the Air model is reportedly set to replace the iPhone 16 Plus, while also taking the crown as Apple's thinnest iPhone to date. The latest tip comes from leaker Majin Bu on X, who posted images allegedly showing screen protectors for all four iPhone 17 models. If accurate, the leak reveals that the iPhone 17 Air will sport a 6.6-inch display. This places it right between the 6.3-inch iPhone 17 Pro and the 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max. This is a notable shift in Apple's usual sizing strategy. Traditionally, the standard and Pro models shared the same display dimensions, while the Plus and Pro Max carried the larger screens. However, the iPhone 16 series broke this pattern, with the Pro models getting slightly bigger screens thanks to slimmer bezels. If these leaked measurements are correct, the iPhone 17 Air will offer a new middle-ground option. It will be smaller than the previous 6.7-inch Plus models but still larger than the regular iPhone 17, which is expected to remain at 6.1 inches. For those who find the Pro Max too big but still want more real estate than the standard iPhone, this could be the sweet spot. However, the Air model won't be a full-fledged Pro competitor. Reports suggest it will feature a single rear camera, unlike the triple-lens system found on Pro models. This could influence buyers who place photography at the top of their priorities. Battery life may also see compromises. Slimmer designs often mean smaller batteries, and early speculation points to the Air potentially having less stamina than other models in the lineup. Interestingly, Apple may counter this by introducing an external battery accessory—a move that could appeal to power users. Beyond just another model in the lineup, industry chatter hints that the iPhone 17 Air could be part of Apple's broader hardware ambitions. Insiders believe Apple is working towards a foldable iPhone, and perfecting ultra-thin designs now could be an important stepping stone towards that future. Apple has yet to confirm any official launch details. But if past patterns hold, we can expect an event announcement later this month, with the official reveal following roughly four weeks later. Until then, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt. If the rumours prove true, the iPhone 17 Air could be a refreshing addition for Apple fans—offering a large but manageable display, a sleek lightweight build, and a glimpse into the company's design evolution, even if it comes with a few trade-offs.
