Timeline
Here's when the Big Apple could see wintry weather this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The chance for a band of snow showers/squalls is 20%. No accumulation is expected, but "even a light coating of snow in a snow squall can result in hazardous driving conditions."
"Tomorrow morning, as the front approaches, we could also see a few flakes flying north and west of the city for the morning commute," FOX 5 NY's Audrey Puente said.
Tuesday night: A 20-30% chance of snow showers after 1 a.m.
"Then we'll do it again tomorrow night. We have another front coming through that will spark off more snow showers, especially north of the city late tomorrow night," Puente said.
Wednesday: A 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m.
What they're saying
"An incoming arctic cold front brings the potential for snow squalls this evening into Tuesday morning from the eastern Great Lakes, New England, and the northern Mid-Atlantic states," the NOAA NWS Weather Prediction Center said in a post on Facebook.
In addition, the agency said a "secondary arctic front" could bring another round of snow squalls to parts of the region.
What you can do
"Snow squalls can be extremely dangerous," the agency said. "If you encounter a snow squall while driving, pull over and wait it out."
What's next
New York City will see a little bit of a warm-up, with temperatures Thursday and Friday in the high-30s and low-40s. The next chance for snow is Saturday.

Tropical Depression 4-E forms in Eastern Pacific; expected to become Tropical Storm Dalila soon

Tropical Depression Four-E formed on Friday morning in the Eastern Pacific after the National Hurricane Center designated the area Potential Tropical Cyclone Four-E on Thursday. A tropical depression is a tropical cyclone that has maximum sustained winds below 39 mph. Once a tropical depression forms, the National Hurricane Center gives it a number based on its order of formation in the hurricane season. This is the fourth tropical depression in the Eastern Pacific this season. The E in the name designates its location. Tropical Depression Four-E is expected to continue to strengthen and become Tropical Storm Dalila later Friday. How Are Hurricanes Rated? The Saffir-simpson Hurricane Wind Scale Explained Four-E has developed in an area that has seen a lot of tropical activity early this Eastern Pacific hurricane season. "There continues to be a pocket of atmosphere off the coast of Mexico that's quite conducive to tropical development," FOX Weather Hurricane Specialist Bryan Norcross said Friday morning. The first hurricane already developed with Barbara. The cyclone briefly reached Category 1 strength before dissipating over colder waters. Tropical Depression Four-E is currently several hundred miles south of Southern Mexico. According to the NHC, regardless of any further development, Four-E will produce increasing winds and high seas. Maximum sustained winds are currently around 35 mph. Updated 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast Maintains Above-average Predictions Fueled By Warm Ocean Temps Tropical Storm Watches and Warnings have been issued for the southwestern coast of Mexico from just south of Puerto Vallarta to just west of Acapulco. Rainfall totals ranging from 2-4 inches, with localized amounts of up to 6 inches, are possible across portions of Mexican states such as Guerrero, Michoacan and Colima through this weekend. The system is also expected to generate life-threatening surf and rip current conditions for those same areas. The NHC is also watching a second area for potential tropical development in the Eastern Pacific due east of Four-E, off of southern Mexico and Central America. Norcross said this area to watch could possibly have implications for Acapulco. "Early projections show a potential storm track just offshore of Acapulco toward the end of next week, though the forecast is quite uncertain," Norcross noted. How Absence Of El Nino, La Nina Could Influence Active Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast Wind gusts are expected to increase in strength over the coming days. Warm water temperatures will help the chances of a tropical cyclone. If winds reach 40 mph, this system would be named Erick. Meanwhile, continued hostile conditions will prevent tropical development over the Gulf, Caribbean and Tropical Atlantic, according to article source: Tropical Depression 4-E forms in Eastern Pacific; expected to become Tropical Storm Dalila soon

Houston weather: Scattered storms for Father's Day weekend

The Brief Fox 26 Storm Alert this afternoon Flood watches South and East until 7 p.m. Muggy with scattered storms for Father's Day Weekend HOUSTON - Is the rain going to cooperate with weekend plans and Father's Day? Beginning around the afternoon, we could see some scattered, heavy storms as highs near 90. The National Weather Service has placed all coastal counties along with eastern Harris County under a flood watch until 7 p.m. Heavy downpours will probably hit areas outside the watch area, but counties south and east of Houston have received very heavy rain over the last 48 hours. Expect scattered strong storms beginning around noon and continuing through late afternoon with more than 3" possible. Saturday and Father's Day Sunday both look muggy, but still unsettled with afternoon storms likely again. A few could briefly become strong, so isolated flooding is still possible, especially in the afternoon. So far, we don't see any indication of a break in the pattern of daily scattered thunderstorms for at least the next week and probably beyond. High temperatures will remain near normal June levels with plenty of humidity as well. The Source Your Gulf Coast Weather Authority.

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Two major public events scheduled for Saturday—President Donald Trump's military parade in Washington, D.C., and a public mass honoring Pope Leo XIV in Chicago—are expected to unfold under very different weather conditions. Why It Matters In Chicago, tens of thousands are expected to attend a citywide mass at Guaranteed Rate Field celebrating Pope Leo, the first U.S.-born pontiff. The pope is not attending in person but will deliver a video message during the event. Forecasts from AccuWeather and the National Weather Service (NWS) indicate sunshine and partly cloudy skies, accompanied by mild temperatures, with a 6 percent chance of precipitation. On the same day, Washington, D.C., will host a major military parade celebrating the U.S. Army's 250th birthday. It is also Trump's 79th birthday. D.C. forecasts predict cloudy and humid weather, with a 78 percent chance of rain and possible thunderstorms, which could disrupt key segments, including the flyovers and parachute demonstrations. What To Know The Archdiocese of Chicago says on its website that the papal celebration "will feature a video message from Pope Leo XIV to the young people of the world, which will be broadcast first from our event, there will also be celebration prayer music. This celebration will be livestreamed." Leo will appear on big screens at Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox, at the event. Gates for the event open at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the program set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The day will conclude with a Holy Mass at 4 p.m., led by Cardinal Blase Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago. It will feature thousands of military personnel, hundreds of vehicles, and a flyover of 50 aircraft. The New York Times reports the parade will feature 28 M1A1 Abrams tanks (each weighing 70 tons), 28 Stryker armored personnel carriers, more than 100 other military vehicles, 6,700 soldiers, 50 helicopters, 34 horses, two mules, and one dog. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will shut down for several hours on June 14 to accommodate Washington's military parade, affecting more than 100 flights and thousands of passengers. What People Are Saying President Donald Trump said at the Congressional Picnic on Thursday: "I hope the weather's OK, but actually if it's not, that brings you good luck, and that's OK, too. It doesn't matter. It doesn't affect the tanks at all, it doesn't affect the soldiers. They're used to it. They're tough. Smart." The Vatican's news service, in a June 2 press release: "Although Pope Leo XIV will not be present in Chicago for the event, he has announced that he will be participating remotely from Rome, with a video message to be played at the gathering." What Happens Next Officials in both cities are preparing for large crowds and heightened security. In Washington, protest groups have announced plans to demonstrate, and contingency plans are being reviewed due to weather risks.
