2 chances for snow in NYC this week: Timing, forecast and impacts
The Brief
New York City has two chances at seeing some snow this week due to possible showers and squalls.
"Even a light coating of snow in a snow squall can result in hazardous driving conditions," the National Weather Service said.
At the end of the workweek, the Big Apple could see a warm-up.

Timeline
Here's when the Big Apple could see wintry weather this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The chance for a band of snow showers/squalls is 20%. No accumulation is expected, but "even a light coating of snow in a snow squall can result in hazardous driving conditions."
"Tomorrow morning, as the front approaches, we could also see a few flakes flying north and west of the city for the morning commute," FOX 5 NY's Audrey Puente said.
Tuesday night: A 20-30% chance of snow showers after 1 a.m.
"Then we'll do it again tomorrow night. We have another front coming through that will spark off more snow showers, especially north of the city late tomorrow night," Puente said.
Wednesday: A 20% chance of showers after 1 p.m.

"An incoming arctic cold front brings the potential for snow squalls this evening into Tuesday morning from the eastern Great Lakes, New England, and the northern Mid-Atlantic states," the NOAA NWS Weather Prediction Center said in a post on Facebook.
In addition, the agency said a "secondary arctic front" could bring another round of snow squalls to parts of the region.

"Snow squalls can be extremely dangerous," the agency said. "If you encounter a snow squall while driving, pull over and wait it out."
What's next
New York City will see a little bit of a warm-up, with temperatures Thursday and Friday in the high-30s and low-40s. The next chance for snow is Saturday.
