
Mumbai waterlogged amid heavy rain, Andheri subway shut; IMD predicts more showers
As per the IMD, an orange alert has been issued for Raigad, Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar. Due to the heavy rains in the city, Mumbai Traffic Police has also announced the closure of Andheri Subway due to severe waterlogging.
IMD orange alert in Mumbai
For Raigad, Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar districts of Maharashtra, the IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday.
Reports have also stated that the Ghatkopar stretch and nearby areas will consistently get moderate to heavy rains till at least 10 AM.
Over the next week, IMD has predicted more showers across Maharashtra. Districts such as Pune, Satara, Raigad and more continue to stay on alert for possible heavy showers.
Rains delay trains, waterlogging reported
As per the mIndicator app, several delays on the Central and Habour line trains have been noted due to the rains. However, the Western line trains are on time as of now.
Due to waterlogging across the city, Mumbai Traffic Police have closed both lanes of the Andheri Subway.
"Due to 1-1.5 ft water logging, the Andheri Subway is closed for vehicular movement. Traffic is diverted via the Gokhale Bridge & Thackeray Bridge," read the notice issued by traffic police on X.
As per the IMD, heavy to heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan & Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada till July 28. Furthermore, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in other regions in Western India.

Heavy rain likely in north Bengal due to formation of low pressure area: IMD
Agency: PTI Kolkata, Aug 12 (PTI) A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday as a result of which, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in the northern districts of West Bengal till August 15, the IMD said. The low pressure system is likely to become more marked over the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain are likely to occur in several south Bengal districts till August 16, it said. The IMD said that the sub-Himalayan districts of Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Kalimpong are very likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall till August 15. It said that the north Bengal districts are likely to receive heavy downpour owing to the collective effects of the low pressure area, an active monsoon trough in the region and strong moisture incursion.
