Yash Raj Films' latest romantic drama Saiyaara is proving to be a juggernaut at the box office. In just four days, the film has netted an impressive ₹105.75 crore in India net, with early estimates placing day four's collection at ₹22.50 crore. The movie opened to ₹22 crore on day one, surged to ₹26.25 crore on day two, and delivered its best with ₹35.75 crore on day three. Internationally, Saiyaara has already added ₹17.25 crore to its tally. With these numbers, Saiyaara is expected to surpass the India net collections of Salman Khan's Sikandar (₹110.1 crore) and has already outperformed the lifetime domestic collections of Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2. It also eclipses the debut films of star kids like Alia Bhatt's Student of the Year (₹70 crore) and Janhvi Kapoor-Ishaan Khattar's Dhadak (₹73 crore).Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara has not only become his biggest box office opening but also holds the unique distinction of being the first romantic film to cross ₹100 crore in its opening weekend, according to Press Trust of India. In comparison, Suri's earlier hits like Ek Villain opened at ₹16 crore, Murder 2 at ₹7 crore, and Aashiqui 2 at just ₹6 crore on day one.The film now finds itself in elite company, standing alongside other top weekend earners like Vicky Kaushal's Chhava (₹122.43 crore), Salman Khan's Sikandar (₹90.25 crore), and Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 (₹91.83 crore). At the heart of Saiyaara is a touching narrative that follows Krish Kapoor (played by debutant Ahaan Pandey), an ambitious musician, and Vaani Batra (played by Aneet Padda), a reserved lyricist grappling with early-onset Alzheimer's. Their emotional and artistic connection forms the emotional core of the film. The storyline has resonated deeply with viewers, many of whom have taken to social media to express how the movie left them in tears or dancing to its music. The soundtrack, composed by a powerhouse lineup including Mithoon, Sachet–Parampara, Tanishk Bagchi, Vishal Mishra, Rishabh Kant, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami, has also played a major role in drawing audiences. Songs voiced by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal have quickly climbed the charts, adding fuel to the film's momentum.Interestingly, Saiyaara's success has come without the usual media blitz. Yash Raj Films took a bold route by keeping debutants Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda away from the pre-release promotions, focusing instead on the film's content and organic buzz. The production house has even requested theatres not to increase ticket prices, making the film more accessible to younger audiences—a move that has been widely appreciated and may have helped drive the impressive footfall over the weekend.Among the many celebrity admirers of the film is actress Shraddha Kapoor, who starred in Mohit Suri's Aashiqui 2. She recently attended a screening and couldn't hold back her emotions, calling Saiyaara 'pure cinema, pure drama, pure magic.' On Instagram, she shared a clip of herself clapping during a powerful scene and wrote that she hadn't 'felt so many emotions in a long time.'Beyond Pandey and Padda, the film features strong supporting performances from actors such as Geeta Agarwal, Rajesh Kumar, Varun Badola, and Shaad Randhawa. Their characters help ground the film in emotional realism while adding texture to the story.Ahaan Pandey, the nephew of Chunky Pandey, has received praise for his earnest portrayal of a struggling musician, while Aneet Padda's depiction of a character coping with memory loss has earned applause for its sensitivity and depth.

August 1 will witness major clash of 7 big films at box office, the films are Son of Sardar 2 and...., full list here
August is set to open with fireworks, not in the sky, but on the silver screen. On 1st August, a whopping seven films from Bollywood, South cinema, and Hollywood will hit theatres. It's not the first time the box office has witnessed a multi-film collision, but this one is making waves for its scale and timing. Coming off the unstoppable high of Saiyaara, audiences seem more than ready to flock back to theatres. The question now: Which of these seven stories will rise above the rest? What films are in the line-up? 1. Son of Sardar 2 Ajay Devgn returns with a sequel to his 2012 hit comedy. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, this one blends romance, family drama, and desi humour as it follows a man helping a couple gain parental approval. The film stars Mrunal Thakur and Ravi Kishan alongside Devgn. 2. Dhadak 2 A bold retelling of the Tamil hit Pariyerum Perumal, this Siddhant Chaturvedi, Triptii Dimri starrer dives into caste, love, and resistance. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, it's far more intense than its predecessor. 3. Holy Ghost A supernatural horror flick with a twist—a kidnapped girl claims she was saved by the ghost of a dead cop. With Jane Osborne in the lead, this Hollywood entry adds eerie vibes to the mix. 4. Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi This political biopic starring Anand Joshi tells the story of Yogi Adityanath, inspired by The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. Directed by Ravindra Gautam, it blends politics with personal transformation. 5. The Bad Guys 2 A laugh riot for kids and grown-ups alike, this animated sequel follows reformed villains trying to stay good—and failing hilariously. Expect chaos with Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, and more. 6. Kalamkaval Mammootty headlines this Malayalam crime drama about tradition, family honour, and moral dilemmas. Rich in emotion and grit, it's a heavy hitter in regional cinema. 7. Blackmail In this Tamil thriller, GV Prakash Kumar plays a man caught in the grip of a shadowy blackmailer. Tense, sharp, and full of twists. After the thunderous success of Saiyaara, the industry is testing whether audiences are truly back in theatres—or if that film was an exception. With multiple genres from romance and action to horror and animation, this clash could reshape release strategies for the rest of 2025. Who will come out on top? Will Devgn's star power carry Son of Sardar 2? Can Dhadak 2 spark a new conversation? Or will a dark horse like Blackmail or Holy Ghost surprise everyone? One thing's certain—August 1 will be a day to remember at the movies.
