AUS vs SA, H2H stats in ODIs
Surprisingly, the Porteas have dominated the Aussies in head-to-head matches in One-day internationals. N the 110 ODI games these two nations have played against each other, Australia won 51 times, while South Africa won 55 times. 3 matches ended in a tie, while one did not have any result due to weather conditions.
Weather and pitch report
The venue, Cazaly's Stadium, is known for being slower compared to other Australian grounds, making batting a bit challenging. Historically, teams winning the toss here prefer to bowl first as chasing tends to be slightly easier on this pitch. So, the toss decision will be crucial in setting the tone for the match.
Just like we saw in the T20I series, the pitch here helps the spinners and grips a bit as well.
Weather conditions in Cairns on match day are expected to be clear with mild winds and moderate humidity, making it near perfect for cricket.

Mohun Bagan's Jason Cummings shows middle finger after losing to East Bengal

Mohun Bagan's Jason Cummings sparked a controversy with his middle finger gesture after losing 1-2 to East Bengal in the quarterfinal of the Durand Cup. Only Way I See Him Getting Injured...: Brett Lees Cheeky Warning On Ravindra Jadejas Sword Celebration

Ravindra Jadeja's trademark sword-swinging celebration has been a common sight on the cricketing field. But former Australia pacer Brett Lee has cautioned the veteran all-rounder in pulling off the celebration, saying he is at the risk of injuring his rotator cuff muscle. Jadeja amassed 516 runs in the drawn 2-2 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series against England, including hitting five half-centuries and one hundred. 'The thing with Jadeja, the only way I see him getting injured is doing a rotator cuff with his, the way he does a sword celebration. So, I love it. Look after your body. Don't celebrate too hard,' said Lee on his YouTube channel on Sunday. Jadeja retired from T20Is after India's T20 World Cup win last year. But he continues to remain a force to reckon with in Tests and ODIs for India. Lee, the former Australian speedster went on to shower praise on Jadeja, and predicted he will go on to play 100 Test matches for India. 'Another sort of 15 Tests, it's about two years. I think he'll go past the 100 mark. I think he's one of the best all-rounders that we've seen. 36 years of age, he's still got a good couple of years left in him.' 'The term we like to use, factory-made cricketer. He has everything that a cricketer needs, and I think he ticks every single box. He does the basics right, he's got a simple technique, no fuss. He runs in and bowls accurately, he bowls the correct line and length when needed, and gets through his overs quickly.' '36 years of age, but the fittest. He's the fittest in the team, he covers a lot of ground, and he prides himself on being the fittest. That is probably the reason why he never shies away from those big moments. He likes to be in the game, he's an entertainer, and he's probably one of the factory cricketers that if you put everything into a mix, throw it into a bucket, mix all up, pick out your best cricketer, Jadeja will be at the top of the list,' he concluded.

He Hasnt Closed The Door, So...: Keshav Maharaj Opens Up On His Chances For 2026 Men's T20 World Cup

South Africa veteran left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj said he remains determined to stake for a spot in the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup after being overlooked for the recent T20I series against Australia. Maharaj is one of five changes to South Africa's ODI squad that will face Australia at the Cazalys Stadium from Tuesday, alongside skipper Temba Bavuma, Wiaan Mulder, Matthew Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi. He missed South Africa's recent Test series win against Zimbabwe with a groin strain, but confirmed the injury had no bearing on his omission from the T20I series, which the visitors' lost 2-1. "Yeah, I'm available. I think 'Shuks' (coach Shukri Conrad) wants to try some things. He hasn't closed the door, so I'm hoping that I will get an opportunity to show him what I can do," Maharaj told reporters in Cairns on Sunday. Maharaj was a key figure in South Africa's run to the Men's T20 World Cup final last year, where they were beaten by India in Barbados. He played all 10 matches in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India as well, taking 15 wickets at an economy rate of just 4.15 in another campaign that ended in semi-final defeat to eventual champions Australia. With 16 T20Is scheduled before the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup takes place in India and Sri Lanka, Maharaj said he had no plans to cut back his commitments. "Not at all. Not yet. The T20 World Cup in 2026 is a huge one for me. For now, I'm happy to play three formats. I still love bowling and until that passion falls away then I want to play all three formats for my country and be a match winner," he added.
